Reactions of [Pt2(μ-S)2(PPh3)4] with activated aliphatic bromoacyl alkylating agents BrCH2C(O)C(C... more Reactions of [Pt2(μ-S)2(PPh3)4] with activated aliphatic bromoacyl alkylating agents BrCH2C(O)C(CH3)3, BrCH2C(O)CH2CH3 and BrCH2C(O)C(O)CH2Br, were investigated by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) in real time using pressurized sample infusion (PSI). The laboratory scale reactions gave the mono-, dicationic and bridged, μthiolate complexes [Pt2(μ-S){μ-SCH2C(O)C(CH3)3}(PPh3)4] , [Pt2{μ-SCH2C(O)CH2CH3}2 (PPh3)4] 2+ and [Pt2{μ-SCH2C(O)C(O)CH2S}(PPh3)4] . Sequential reactions of [Pt2(μ-S)2 (PPh3)4] with BrCH2C(O)C(CH3)3 and BrCH2C(O)CH2CH3 yielded the heterodialkylated complex [Pt2{μ-SCH2C(O)C(CH3)3}{μ-SCH2C(O)CH2CH3}(PPh3)4] . The products were isolated as the [BPh4] – or [PF6] – salts and characterized by ESI-MS, IR, H and P NMR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray crystallography.
A Schiff base, 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-3-[(1E)-1-(2-phenylhydrazinylidene)ethyl]-2H-pyran-2-one, is sy... more A Schiff base, 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-3-[(1E)-1-(2-phenylhydrazinylidene)ethyl]-2H-pyran-2-one, is synthesized and characterized by ¹H and ¹³C NMR, IR spectroscopy, ESI-mass spectrometry and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. There are three crystallographically independent molecules in the asymmetric unit, space group C2/c, a = 30.011(2) Å, b = 17.601(2) Å, c = 13.6878(13) Å, β = 92.532(4)°, and Z = 24. The final reliable index is 0.0406 for 5997 reflections. The molecules are linked through intermolecular N–H…O hydrogen bonds into three-linked molecules forming a supramolecular ring.
