Now-a-days preparation and study of nano particles has gain significant consideration. The common theme here is always "size matters" and over the last decades, researchers have developed exciting new materials with unique and tuneable properties. Among wide spread fields in this area, we focused on the synthesis and study of ferromagnetic iron oxides (acicular goethite) which has different application in various magnetic tapes and medical monitoring. We report synthesis of acicular goethite by using ionic liquid as a solvent and as an oxidant. With the help of [BMIM]ClO3 the reaction time was decreased from 6 h to 2 h and oxidation reaction was took place at the lower temperature (changing from 60 ºC to 40 ºC).

Introduction: Bifunctional radiosensitizer agents in which nitroaromatic moieties are attached through a linker to antineoplastic moieties have demonstrated higher cytotoxicity and radiosensitizer effects than the corresponding counterparts. This study was conducted to investigate the cytotoxicity and radiosensitizer activities of 2, 4-dinitrobenzene as a radiosensitizer moiety which connected to α, β unsaturated aryl ketones against the radioresistant human HT29 colon cancer cells. Methods: A series of bifunctional radiosensitizer derivatives that are composed of electron-affinic 2, 4-dinitrophenyl moiety and thiol reactive unsaturated conjugated ketones were prepared. The study focuses on the preparation and characterisation (physicochemical and mechanical) of hydroxyapatite [Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2] (HA) from sea urchin, Echinometra mathaei. Therefore, nano-sized HA prepared from sea urchin shells were collected from beaches of the Persian Gulf in Iran. Sea urchin shells were found a source of calcium carbonate in the form of aragonite (calcite) that crystallised in an organic matrix. HA is one of the polymers used in coating the nanoparticles extracted from various sources. The calcined aragonite converted to nanosized hydroxyapatite powder by chemical reaction with orthophosphoric acid while maintaining stoichiometry, Ca/P = 1.667 at 80°C.
