Some researchers have applied the word splash strategy to help students learn vocabulary. The research showed that by using the word splash strategy, students could effectively motivate learning vocabulary. Students showed evidence of learning by using the word splash strategy. Word Splash is a learning strategy that stimulates thinking around a topic. The Word Splash Strategy allows students to learn new words and ideas before they start reading and helps them figure out how the word might relate. This strategy can help students improve their vocabulary by allowing them to predict words before they read the passage and connect new words or ideas to the passage's main idea.

The importance of listening strategies, The strategies in teaching listening, and listening processes, especially Bottom-up and top-down strategies. Another purpose of writing this paper is to show teachers how they can influence students' learning process—notably, using strategies to make it easier for students to learn listening.

The subject of this research is the ELTA MMU trainees, and the materials used were taken from the concept of Role Play. This research consists of two cycles, with five meetings for the first cycle and three meetings for the second cycle, based on the schedule designed by the researcher. The researcher used oral tests to collect the data, and a questionnaire was used to gain the trainees' responses to Role Play. The data collected from this research shows that ELTA trainees' speaking ability is improved through Role Play. The trainees give positive opinions and responses during the use of Role Play. Based on the data, the researcher concluded that the element of speaking that has more progress for trainees' speaking improvement is comprehensive. The purpose of this research is to explain the understanding of teachers about the method of teac... more The purpose of this research is to explain the understanding of teachers about the method of teaching reading comprehension, the techniques that are widely used, the challenges encountered by the teacher and the approaches that have been found to solve these problems. This used the template of the survey using a hybrid approach, where the results were gathered in quantitative and qualitative terms. The subjects of this research were 35 junior high school English teachers in Ambon city. The data collection method was questionnaire, survey and assessment checklist. The findings revealed that the technique plays a significant role in English reading practices; the techniques enable teachers to conduct their teaching tasks faster and well-arranged. Mostly, students use speaking aloud, summarization, vocabulary development, skimming, and testing. This paper aims at enriching students' vocabularies by implementing semantic mapping strategy at ... more This paper aims at enriching students' vocabularies by implementing semantic mapping strategy at the tenth grade of SMK Negeri 1 Ambon. The subjects of the research were 20 students consisting of 4 males and 16 females. The research used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) where collaborated with the English Classroom teacher. The result of the study showed that in the first and the second cycle of the criterias of success were achieved, 70% of the students were successful. Based on this research, there are several advantages that was gained by the students when they learn vocabulary using Semantic Mapping Strategy in the classroom such as: students are able to understand the content of the reading text, understand the part of speech of the main word, and they also can write simple sentences. In this study, the researchers found that there was positive perception of the students toward the implementation of Semantic Mapping Strategy. The students' responses showed that by using this strategy they can enjoy learning in the classroom and their vocabularies' knowledge were enriched. Based on the test result it can be stated that Semantic Mapping Strategy is effective in enriching vocabulary and understand the meaning of new words.
Nowadays, the lack of opportunity for students to practice speaking in English classroom makes th... more Nowadays, the lack of opportunity for students to practice speaking in English classroom makes them difficult to improve their speaking ability. Therefore, this study will address PMI, stands for Plus, Minus and Interesting strategy that can encourage students to speak by thinking the plus, minus and interesting points of the topic. This study used Quasi-Experimental research for the students at second grade of SMP-IT As-Salam Ambon. It is aimed to find out whether the students who are taught by using PMI strategy had better achievement in their speaking ability rather than those who are taught by using Question and Answer strategy. This study was conducted during 8 meetings. First meeting was the pre-test, 6 meetings were the treatment and the last meeting was the post-test. The result reveal that after PMI strategy had been applied, the students in experimental class was significantly had better achievement in speaking ability than the students in control class based on their pre-test and post-test result. Thus, PMI strategy could influence students' speaking ability because it can open the opportunity for the students to elaborate their ideas, to help them make a decision in a short time and to increase their participation in speaking activity.
