Indomethacin hydrazide is a very important compound in the medical field prepared recently to reduce the side effects of indomethacin. The role of the drug is as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. Therefore, the methods for estimating this important compound are very few. In this study, an easy, inexpensive and fast spectrophotometric method has been proposed for the determination of this compound in various samples. The method is based on two steps, the first step is the oxidising of indomethacin hydrazide with the oxidizing agent N-bromosuxinamide in an acidic medium, where a compound is formed, and gradually shortens the reddish-orange colour of the xylenol orange dye with the steady increase of indomethacin hydrazide in the second step. The orange xylenol dye is of great importance as it is used in removing a lot of pollution damage, especially contamination with metals, where these minerals are complexes with the xylenol dye and are separated and removed. Besides the important use of this dye in the removal of oxidation products of drugs, as in the case of the indomethacin derivative, after it had been converted to the oxidised formula with the aid of oxidising agents. This method obeyed Beer’s law at the concentration range from 2-28 μg/mL, Sandall’s value was 0.1547 μg-2 cm-1, while the molar absorptivity value was 5.77×104 L mol-1 cm-1. The method was successfully applied to determine the amount of indomethacin hydrazide in different samples.

Chromate ions CrO4−2have been used in three simples, rapid, an accurate spectrophotometric method. These methods were suggested to estimate mefenamic acid in its pure form and pharmaceutical preparations. These methods were different from each other with reactants components, and they are similar as, indirect methods and depends on oxidation – reduction reaction. So that, Method 1, based on oxidation reduction reaction between mefenamic acid and chromate ion in presence of acidic medium and sodium oxalate to form a water soluble, and stable pinkish-violet colored complex with 1,5-diphenylcarbazide as a reagent which was measured at λmax545 nm. Method 2 depends on oxidizing mefenamic acid with chromate ions in presence of sodium oxalate as a catalyst agent and acidic medium to form with indigo carmine λmaxat 610 nm. water soluble and stable blue complex. Finally, method 3 based on the reaction between mefenamic acid and chromate ion in presence of sodium oxalate and acidic medium to form with chrome azurol S a red complex measured λmaxat 512 nm. These three methods have been followed Beer’s law at (2-40,1.2-40 and 2-36) μg/mL methods 1,2 and 3 respectively, while molar absorptivity and Sandall’s sensitivity 0.84×104, 0.54×104and 1.08×1041.mol−1.cm−1and 0.0287, 0.0446 and 0.0223 μg.cm−2for methods 1,2 and 3 respectively. The suggested methods were applied successfully to determination of mefenamic acid in pharmaceutical formulation with good recoveries.

Due to the medical importance of Pepcid, a spectrophotometric method had been suggested for the determination of Pepcid in its pure form as well as in some of its pharmaceutical preparations. The proposed method relies on two important steps; the first one, is the oxidation-reduction reaction between Pepcid and an amount of cerium IV (oxidizing agent) in presence of acidic medium, followed by the second step that occurs between cerium (III) with safranin, at the selected wavelength 514 nm. The proposed method obeyed Beer's law within the range (2-40) µg.mL-1, with good sensitivity relative to the molar absorption coefficient value 3.21×104 l.mol-1.cm-1 and the Sandal value equal to 0.00105μg.cm-2. The proposed method has been successfully applied to quantify Pepcid in pure form and its pharmaceutical preparations

A spectrophotometric method is proposed for the determination of some drugs containing amino group such as mesalazine, metoclopramide and dopamine in pharmaceutical formulations. It was simple, precise, accurate, rapid, and based on the oxidation of each drug with chromate as an oxidizing agent in the presence of 1N hydrochloric acid. Then indigo carmine is reacted with residual chromate in the presence of a catalysis factor (sodium oxalate). Increasing in absorbance's value of the color system is proportional to the amount of the three drugs which is measured at the selected wavelength of 610 nm. The proposed method is obeying Beer's law in the ranges of (1-40, 2-44 and 2-52) ppm for the concentration of mesalazine, metoclopramide and dopamine respectively. Molar absorptivity was 0.191×104, 0.449×104 and 0.191×104 L.mol-1.cm-1 mesalazine, metoclopramide and dopamine respectively. While, Sandell's sensitivity index of 0.0806, 0.0667 and 0.0806 μg.cm-2 mesalazine...

Molar absorptivity was 1.95×104 and 2.16×104 mol−1 cm−1 for the red and blue colored complex respectively. Finally, the values of Sandal’s sensitivity were 0.00626 and 0.00565 μg−2 cm−1 for the first and second methods respectively. These two methods have been applied to quantify the amount of nicotinamide in pharmaceuticals with g...

The second method was based on the oxidation reduction reaction between hydrazine sulphate and chromate then the subsequent reaction of chromate IIII produced with chromazurol S, in acidic medium of 1 N hydrochloric acid (pH 2.0), to produce a burgundy red colored complex measured at 573 nm. Beer's law was obeyed at the range of concentration from (0.4–50)µg, molar absorptivity was (0.29 × 104) l.mol−1.cm−1, and Sandal sensitivity was (0.0448) µg−2.cm−1. The limits of detection (LOD) and limits of quantification (LOQ) for the first method were 0.1976 and 0.6584 μg ml−1 .While 0.3257 and 1.0663 μg ml−1 for the second method. These two methods were applied for estimation of hydrazine sulphate in various water samples with good recoveries.

A simple and rapid spectrophotometric method for the determination of sulphite SO3-2 is described. The method is based on the rapid reduction of known amount of chromate CrO4-2 in the presence of sulphite in acidic medium of 2N H2SO4. The amount of excess of chromate was measured after it reactions with 1,5-diphenylcarbazide which finally gives a pink-violet, water soluble and stable complex, which exhibit a maximum absorption at 542 nm. Beer's law was obeyed in the concentration range from 0.004-6.0 µg of sulphite in a final volume of 25 ml with a molar absorbtivity of 4.64×104 l.mol-1.cm-1, Sandal's sensitivity index of 0.001724 ?g .cm-2 and relative standard deviation of ±0.55 - ±0.83 depending on the concentration level. The present method has been developed for the determination of sulphite in the presence of thiosulphate. Good recoveries of sulphite from various water samples are achieved using the proposed method.
