A windmill is a machine that is powered by the energy of the wind. It is designed to convert the energy of the wind into more useful forms using rotating blades or sails. The paper refers to a machine able to convert the solar energy in movement. The constructive solution comes out from a "perpetuum mobile". There are a lot of pseudo "perpetuum mobile" that are in fact thermal engines. The paper tries to use ancient ideas in order to develop a true thermal engine that is able to use solar energy. A good idea is to develop a kind of wheel with the blades in a dynamic mass unbalance. This unbalance is able to generate an active torque. The blades or wings of the wheel receive thermal energy from the Sun and give the residual one to the cold source.

The low efficiency of an α-Stirling Engine drives us to improve on its work characteristics in order to rise-up its efficiency [2]. The main way to achieve this is to improve the engine characteristics. There are a lot of mechanisms species that could be used to obtain a dwell movement function that is necessary to the compression cylinder. A bar mechanism could be more reliable than cam mechanism despite that the cam mechanism is more precise. The bar mechanism presented in this paper has seven bars but seems to be reliable enough for this application. There are other ways to improve the efficiency, to change the working gas from the cylinders. A good efficiency is obtained using a gas that has a high specific heat, like hydrogen or helium.

It could be useful a mechanism able to perform a dwell during the whole period of expansion. This stop of the compression piston has to enlarge the active area of the PV diagram. As consequence it is expected an efficiency improvement. This request could be very well accomplish by a cam mechanism. But this one is too large, too complicate, expansive and unreliable for solar systems as shown in [1]. Hence, the paper tries to find out a linkage able to perform an equivalent dwell as a cam mechanism. The purpose of the analysis is to find out the movement functions yC(t) and yE(t) to reveal if there are in a proper phase relation between them or not. The proper phase relation demonstrates that the mechanism is good for the application. Second, it must show that yE(t) has a large enough dwell, in accordance with the expansion stroke time of the expansion cylinder. The known technical solution for self-balancing with counterweight, springs and actuators can be substituted through a band mechanism. The paper proposed a new self-balancing solution for the conco-balancer manipulator with band mechanism and presents its synthesis approach. The non-circular profile of the band mechanism permits the variation of the compensated moment in order to be easy manipulated the load by the operator.

DMG-Lib is intended to display the development in the field, from its very beginning up to now days. There is a large range of significant objects available, physically very heterogeneous and needing all to be digitized. The paper presents the workflow, the equipments and specific techniques used in digitization of documents featuring very different characteristics (size, texture, color, degree of preservation, resolution and so on). Once the workflow established on very detailed steps, the development of the workstation is treated. Special equipments designed and assembled at Universitatea "Politehnica" Timisoara are presented. A large series of software applications, including original programs, work for digitization itself, processing of images, management of files, automatic optoelectronic control of capture, storage of information in different stages of processing. An illustrating example is explained, showing the steps followed in order to obtain a clear, high-resolution image from an old original document (very valuable as a historical proof but very poor in quality regarding clarity, contrast and resolution).

Animal abilities of space detection are strictly oriented to help them to survive. Dog use, first, the smell receptivity, but snake uses the infrared sensors. The matrix pressure sensor for human gait detection needs such a structure in order to be able to acquire a set of data to describe the human footprint as a spatial-temporal function p(x,y,t). Any element of the transducer takes a position that is defined by the matrix coordinate. All the elements are pressure sensors. A difficulty of this transducer design is the achievement of the signal. A simple grid connection is not adequate to obtain p(x,y,t) versus s(t) signal. The analogical signal has to be converted to digital one. Finally the matrix must be analyzed with an image strategy: segmentation, ROI establishing, Fast Fourier Analyze etc.
