Abstract
Gender change policies are heavily criticized by trans (transsexual, transgender, etc.) activists, who not only denounce them, but have also devised a number of resistance strategies to improve their access to transition processes. Based on qualitative research conducted with 12 trans activists in Quebec, this paper provides an account of their perception of Quebec gender change policies. It highlights the transphobic, cisnormative framework within which these policies have been developed, and helps to understand how the devised resistance strategies have adapted to or contested this framework.
