The considered filter is a stepped-transformer consisting of quarter-wave sections. The frequency variations of the reactive coupling have been used to modify the known response functions of quarter-wave transformers to predict the performance of the derived filters. It is concluded that band-pass filters using superconducting material (YBCO) have higher transmission coefficient S 21 and lower input reflection coefficient S 11 than those using conventional conductors, at the same temperature 77K approaching the perfect ones.

The expressions required for an order up to n=5 have been obtained. The recursive nature of the analysis enables the designer to get the expressions required for any order n. This work is intended for applications in microwave transistor amplifiers, but it may find applications in other fields of electronic engineering

In this paper, an orientation independent tag without the two antennas but with a high response is proposed. The tag design is based on etching circular slots on one layer of a substrate without ground. The symmetry of the tag is the reason behind the orientation independent response. The circular set of resonators are repeated in different space distribution to increase the back scattered signal of the tag in order to reach the response of the two antennas of the conventional chipless tags. The proposed tag reveals high frequency response, compact size and at the same time orientation independent compared to other chipless RFID tags. The proposed tags are suitable for banknotes, credit card applications and similar applications.

In the smart grid, individuals will be able to participate in distributed renewable energy generation, for instance by installing rooftop solar panels. In effect, many customers will become electricity ‘prosumers’. As a result, there will be a need for greater shared understanding of environmental and renewable energy concerns between utilities and their customers. Although the current use of social media by electric utilities is limited, it could represent an important media choice for creating engagement with their customers. In this research, we analyzed 7180 tweets of 31 U.S. utilities over a five-month month period. We found that utilities with more prosumers are more active and have higher follower engagement on renewable energy tweets. Practical implications and directions for future re...

Metaheuristic methods are followed to enhance the time and the quality of the initial solution produced by the scheduling engine of an industrial platform in order to obtain a rather acceptable initial schedule. Thereafter, several boosts have been achieved in order to accelerate the convergence towards an optimum solution besides the reduction of processing time and memory allocation. Further research work is required to improve resource assignation by making it more efficient and reasonable and to optimize memory allocation so that the current scheduling engine becomes more scalable and updatable.

Based on the RSS feed technology, the presented mobile application establishes an in-time communication channel between the instructor and his/her students to keep them up-to-date with all course important dates, instructions and information in addition to a download center to provide them a permanent and fast access to all course lectures and resources. Security issues are also taken into consideration, only students who are currently enrolled in the learning course are allowed to access the mobile application through a security control which is simple and adequate in the same time. The presented mobile learning application is currently available to be downloaded and installed through Google Play store (formerly called Android Market) on almost all Android devices starting from Android 2.1 and higher. Future work includes further enrichment of the application by adding additional modules and functionalities as well as increasing the application availability by developing other versions for Windows 8 and iOS smartphones and tablets in order reach a wider range of students.

which in turn is considered as a technological evolution of the
conventional learning. This paper represents a portion of a wide
research project that aims at developing a comprehensive model
of mobile learning. The paper focuses on studying and analyzing
the teaching tasks in mobile learning. Teaching in mobile
learning is broken down into five main tasks. These tasks are
originally derived from conventional learning basic teaching
tasks with proper modifications while adding new necessary
tasks. The paper explains briefly each task along with its data
flow diagram. Recommendations to maximize the anticipated
benefits of mobile learning and to reduce the undesired impacts
of its drawbacks and limitations are also presented.
