presenci... more Se ratifica como localidad típica el afloramiento Miembro La Virgen de Chorrillos por la
presencia en nuestras colecciones de los representantes de dos géneros nuevos:
Raimondiceras Spath, 1924 (Ammonidea) y Virgotrigonia Alleman, 1984 (Mollusca) y dos
especies nuevas: Raimondiceras pfluckeri (Lissón, 1904) y Virgotrigonia peterseni
Alleman, 1984. Además es localidad de cuatro especies de ammonoidea más:
Argentiniceras pardoi (Lissón, 1907), Favrella lorensis (Lissón, 1907), Lissonia riveroi
(Lisson, 1907) y Raimondiceras raimondii (Gabb, 1877). El vegetal Podozamites Braun
portadora de su semilla Cycadocarpidium swabii Nathorat fueron regristrados por primera
vez. Además, están en estudio nuevos taxones de vegetales, ammonites, bivalvia,
gasterópoda, braquiópoda y vertebrados por determinar. Como localidad de importancia
prioritaria mundial en paleontología necesita ser protegida por el Estado peruano y
declarada Patrimonio Cultural Paleontológico de la Nación

Es preciso escoger en reemplazo un ejemplar de la misma localidad, como tipo secundario para que sirva de norma de referencia y de consulta, lo que es el objeto de la descripción del presente topotipo.

Se revisa los especímenes de fósiles invertebrados que tienen la categoría de "tipos" en el Perú,... more Se revisa los especímenes de fósiles invertebrados que tienen la categoría de "tipos" en el Perú, cuyos depositarios son el Servio Nacional de Geología, la Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería y la Universidad Nacional de San Marcos. La revisión comprende la identificación de los especímenes con las publicaciones originales para comprobar su autenticidad, el cambio de nombres genéricos, las referencias bibliográficas posteriores, las edades, las localidades de donde proceden y los colectores. Dichas colecciones de "tipos" cuando están debidamente catalogadas, conservadas y son accesibles, constituyen la principal fuente de referencia para determinaciones ulteriores. La distribución estratigráfica de fósiles Plantae, Nautiloidea, Ammonoidea, Bivalvia y Pisces en ... more La distribución estratigráfica de fósiles Plantae, Nautiloidea, Ammonoidea, Bivalvia y Pisces en la localidad de Cerro Candela, Lima, (potencia 7.58m), muestra que los fósiles dominantes son los ammonites, seguidos por los bivalvos; ambos grupos tienden a disminuir en número desde la base hasta el tope del afloramiento. De otro lado, la densidad total de los fósiles se acentúan en los niveles inferiores (máximo 5.63x10-3 fósiles/cc, capa B9), mientras que en los niveles superiores este disminuye considerablemente (mínimo 0.08x10-3 fósiles/cc capa F2)

El trabajo ofrece una revisión histórica sobre la aparición y desarrollo de la enseñanza de la Pa... more El trabajo ofrece una revisión histórica sobre la aparición y desarrollo de la enseñanza de la Paleontología como formación de la carrera biológica en algunas universidades peruanas como la Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, la Nacional San Antonio Abad del Cuzco y la Universidad Ricardo Palma. A partir de 1878, en la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, se inició la enseñanza de la Paleontología como un curso compartido con la Geología y Mineralogía. Posteriormente, en 1935, la paleontología quedó como una asignatura independiente. En la Universidad Nacional San Antonio Abad del Cusco el curso de Paleontología formo parte del curriculo en la carrera de Biología a partir de 1949 y en 1970, en la Universidad Ricardo Palma, el curso de Paleontología fue incluido en los estudios biológicos. El nivel de enseñanza de la Paleontologia no superó la forma general, introductoria o elemental, en lugar de un desarrollo hacia la Paleontología Especializada complementaria, sobre lo que, al contrario, se observó una tendencia recesiva.

Se describe Virgotrigonia petersenensis sp.nov. Se ofrece la discusiones específicas y genéricas de la nueva especie del nuevo género.

Se presenta el registro de 29 muestras de rocas sedimentaria y de fósiles del Eoceno, Mioceno, Pl... more Se presenta el registro de 29 muestras de rocas sedimentaria y de fósiles del Eoceno, Mioceno, Plioceno y Pleistoceno provenientes de las Formaciones Paracas, Yumaque, Caballas, Pisco y de las Terrazas Marinas de la Costa Sur de las regiones de Paracas, Ica, Ocucaje y Nazca, en las cuales las locales citadas se extienden desde el Puente Huamani, la Reserva Nacional de Paracas hasta San Juan de Marcona.
Al lado de madera silificada, icnofosiles, diatomeas y radiolarios se reportan dentro de los fòsiles animales la presencia de gasterópodos, lamelibranquios, crustáceos y vertebrados. Las rocas cuentan con la presencia de muestras de areniscas petrolíferas y otras areniscas, limonitas, diatomitas, toba, porcelanita y diferentes morfotipos de fosfatos.

Durante el siglo XX ha existido una cantidad reducida de investigadores activos en Paleobotanica ... more Durante el siglo XX ha existido una cantidad reducida de investigadores activos en Paleobotanica peruana. Se ha podido registrar setecientas dos contribuciones, de las cuales cuatrocientos noventa son publicaciones y el resto son aportes inéditos. Seis autores han producido la cantidad más elevada de publicaciones y la mayoria de sus obras han sido realizadas en revistas peruanas. La mayor cantidad de publicaciones puede ser consultada en la biblioteca de la Sociedad Geológica del Perú. La Era Cenozoica ha sido la más estudiada y la Era Paleozoica la menos. Los departamentos donde se ha investigado más son Ica, Piura y Lima.

Se analiza los resultados de la compilación bibliográfica de los aportes en las disciplinas de P... more Se analiza los resultados de la compilación bibliográfica de los aportes en las disciplinas de Paleobotánica y Palinología del Perú. El número de obras compiladas hasta la fecha es de 702, de las cuales el 69.8% corresponden a publicaciones y el 30.2% a inéditas. A las publicaciones iniciales se le unen, a mitad del siglo, las inéditas, en las cuales alcanzan su mayor producción a mediados de los años 90.

Se presenta el primer ensayo de base de datos de Paleobotánica y Palinología del Perú. La base c... more Se presenta el primer ensayo de base de datos de Paleobotánica y Palinología del Perú. La base cuenta con tres secciones: bibliografía, instituciones y proyectos. El sistema operativo en el que se trabajó la base de datos es el CDS/ISIS v.1.31. Se han realizado 702 ingresos de obras relacionadas con el área, de las cuales han sido publicadas 490, y se consideran inéditas 212. Existe en el Perú una cantidad reducida de investigadores activos en estas disciplinas. Son 4 las instituciones nacionales reportadas como depositarias de colecciones. El análisis de los resultados de las contribuciones nos demuestra que si se realizan investigaciones en las disciplinas de Paleobotanica y Palinologia de material peruano, las cuales han ido en crecimiento desde inicios del siglo XX. Por el número de publicaciones destacan 6 profesionales especialmente en la Paleobotanica del Perú, siendo el Perú el país que más ha publicado al respecto y la Bibliografía de la Sociedad Geológica del Perú donde se halla la mayor cantidad de publicaciones. De las contribuciones analizadas son un 26% de Palinología y 74% de Paleobotánica; de éstas se han realizado más aportes en la Era Cenozoica. Los Departamentos donde más se ha investigado son Ica, Piura y Lima.

presencia en nuestras colecciones de los representantes de dos géneros nuevos:
Raimondiceras Spath, 1924 (Ammonidea) y Virgotrigonia Alleman, 1984 (Mollusca) y dos
especies nuevas: Raimondiceras pfluckeri (Lissón, 1904) y Virgotrigonia peterseni
Alleman, 1984. Además es localidad de cuatro especies de ammonoidea más:
Argentiniceras pardoi (Lissón, 1907), Favrella lorensis (Lissón, 1907), Lissonia riveroi
(Lisson, 1907) y Raimondiceras raimondii (Gabb, 1877). El vegetal Podozamites Braun
portadora de su semilla Cycadocarpidium swabii Nathorat fueron regristrados por primera
vez. Además, están en estudio nuevos taxones de vegetales, ammonites, bivalvia,
gasterópoda, braquiópoda y vertebrados por determinar. Como localidad de importancia
prioritaria mundial en paleontología necesita ser protegida por el Estado peruano y
declarada Patrimonio Cultural Paleontológico de la Nación

Al lado de madera silificada, icnofosiles, diatomeas y radiolarios se reportan dentro de los fòsiles animales la presencia de gasterópodos, lamelibranquios, crustáceos y vertebrados. Las rocas cuentan con la presencia de muestras de areniscas petrolíferas y otras areniscas, limonitas, diatomitas, toba, porcelanita y diferentes morfotipos de fosfatos.
