Examining the power relationships at two levels is the aim of this kind of work. On the one hand the connection within a court environment guided by socially established customs. On the other hand, how power in the family setting is structured. The epis- tolary ensemble that has been studied enables the detection of linguistic and para- linguistic and extralinguistic mechanisms to any kind of power expression in both environments between men and women, highlighting the strategies formalised amidst social and family relations of such a unique character like Dantiscus who lived in Carlos V’s Court and who learned how to exert and deal with power along his broad diplomatic activity.

As... more Egodocuments are an excellent documentary type for the study of social and linguistic history. As they are not subject to mediation, correction, or interference by a secondary author, they are texts in which the author expresses his or her feelings just setting the pen to paper. On the other hand, as their execution is focused on immediate communication, their dissemination is not considered, so they lack the filters of social or formal conventions. The aim of this research is to show the importance of considering egodocuments as a valuable material for the reconstruction of identity and the role played by the popular classes in Cuba, concentrating on the decades before Independence, in those accurate moments when the social and linguistic identity of a new nation was being formed.

To this end, it ex- plains Cuba’s social changes and the types of documents (manuscripts and press) that demonstrate the configuration of the lan- guage and the cultural references at the birth of a new country. In this way, we aim to pro- mote knowledge of such an unknown period in the history of the Spanish language and, specifically, of the American variation.

immigration contexts, and the cultural distance that may exist, the teacher is sometimes

In this study we analyze the essential concepts of the cultural component in the Spanish as a foreign language classroom, with special attention to the perspective that the teacher should have about them to help in the decision making process.

Abstract: After the Caribbean Islands were conquered, there began a time of contact between the Spanish language and consolidated native languages, which would result in the linguistic settlement in the American continent. This paper focuses on the analysis of a selection of works dating between 1518 and 1559, and which have been selected on the basis of the following variables: the author’s level of experience in the Indies and the use of communicative strategies in each document. This study is centred on analyzing quantitatively the words included in the chronicles, the tendencies observed, and their interpretation. The resulting textual types show a direct relationship with both the addition of indigenous neologisms and the authors’ field of knowledge, through which they filter their personal experience and add the new words.

ABSTRACT
This paper focuses on the analysis of the linguistics contexts in which multiples identities of Latin American students integrated into the Spanish education system are created. This research discusses the process that develops an idiomatic conscience and linguistic factors that may harm school student success.
Finally, it has been developed proposals to encourage the integration of Hispanic students in the Spanish system, strengthen their language skills and managing change as an asset from the cognitive point of view.
