In the presence of recurrent lesions, invasive methods are necessary to treat lesions and pain. As a conservative adjuvant method, photobiomodulation (PBM) with low power laser is able to promote reduction of tissue pain and tissue inflammation besides increasing vascularization and healing, restoring the normal function of the irradiated organ in a shorter time. In veterinary medicine, there is no standardization of technique for its use in oral tissue for treating gingivostomatitis in dogs. In the present case, a dog was submitted to aPDT (7.2 J/point, 3 min/point, 180 J/cm²) and PBM (1.6 J/point, 40 sec/point, 25 J/cm²), using a semiconductor diode laser, with wavelength of 660 nm, spot size of 0.04 cm² and output power of 40 mW. The established protocol proved to be effective as coadjutant treatment for chronic gingivostomatitis, restoring the integrity of dog’s affected mucosa and gingiva.

ABSTRACT. The periodontal disease is the most common disorder of oral cavity of the dogs, being characterized by the inflammation of the gingiva (gingivitis) and periodontium (periodontitis), as a result of aerobic bacteria accumulation on the tooth surface, shaped as a biofilm, creating a microaerophilic environment that enhances the development of pathogenic anaerobic bacteria. The process of gingivitis can be reversed after proper treatment. If untreated, it progresses to periodontitis, an irreversible condition, because of the loss of epithelial adhesion. Animals with periodontitis have bone loss and consequently tooth mobility. This condition has the feeding as the main modifier factor. This means that the more solid is the food, the more friction with the tooth it will do, helping the removal of the biofilm. There are several predisposing factors of this disease, such as race, age, occlusion problems, immunodeficiency, among others. The clinical signs of periodontal disease may vary, being halitosis and gingivitis the most common findings. The diagnosis is made by direct inspection, where furcation exposure, inflammation and dental calculus can be seen. The best complementary tool to diagnose is the intra-oral radiography, which allows the visualization of bone structures that can not be seen during clinical inspection, helping to manage the treatment. The use of antibiotics is only complementary to treatment and only chosen in special cases. The treatment for this condition is surgical and requires sedation. It basically consists in the complete removal of dental calculus, followed by teeth polishing. The whole procedure is performed using specific techniques and instrumentation. There are various prophylactic methods, although daily brushing and the awareness of the owner about this condition are considered the ideal combination.

ABSTRACT: According to the literature, testicular tumors are considered uncommon in rabbits and found only in adult animals. However, it should be considered the growing population of this species as a pet and, consequently, the increase of life expectancy of these animals. In this species, the interstitial cell tumor is the most commonly described. However, seminoma is a testicular tumor rarely reported. Its first case was described less than a hundred years ago. The aim of this report is to present a case of a six-year-old spayed male rabbit, from the New Zealand breed, with 2.6 kg, attended at Queté Veterinary Center, diagnosed with diffuse seminoma and surgically treated by bilateral orchiectomy.
