Miranda K McCarvel
I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Utah and Steffensen Cannon Scholar. I am currently completing my dissertation, which focuses on the implementation of Lexical Selection within Harmonic Serialism. In general, my research focuses on allomorphic variation, specifically looking at phonologically conditioned allomorphy, and examines what information must be relegated to the lexicon in constraint based systems such as Optimality Theory and Harmonic Serialism. I am interested in phonology, morphophonology, prosody, sonority, Jèrriais (Jersey Norman French), minority Romance languages, endangered languages, and language documentation/revitalization. In addition to theoretical phonology, I am also interested in the pedagogy of linguistics and linguistics in higher education
