Este monográfico es fruto de una serie de causalidades surgidas durante un proceso de investiga... more Este monográfico es fruto de una serie de causalidades surgidas durante un proceso de investigación largo y minucioso que tiene tanto de pieza policial como de relato mágico. Los cuentos maravillosos de Edith Nesbit (1858-1924) han inspirado nuestra investigación creando una red creciente de datos, noticias e informaciones varias que confluyen en un empeño común: rescatar la figura de esta escritora británica para el público español, reeditar sus narraciones en distintos formatos y descifrar la historia secreta de su recepción en España, primero de la mano de la Editorial Calleja y ahora auspiciada por la Editorial Renacimiento y la Biblioteca Nacional. El grupo de investigación La Otra Edad de Plata dedica este volumen a María Jesús Fraga, quien, gracias al recuerdo de sus lecturas infantiles, descubrió que la verdadera autora de los anónimos cuentos publicados por la Editorial Calleja con el título de Plaga de dragones era precisamente Edith Nesbit.

O livro tem textos em português, em castelhano e em inglês.Com o presente volume, a Asociación Na... more O livro tem textos em português, em castelhano e em inglês.Com o presente volume, a Asociación Nacional de Investigación en Literatura Infantil y Juvenil (ANILIJ), através da sua secção ELOS – Asociación Galego-Portuguesa de Investigación en Literatura Infantil e X/Juvenil e o Centro de Investigação em Estudos da Criança do Instituto de Educação da Universidade do Minho dão continuidade à série “Estudos” de livros-CD inaugurada com Crítica e Investigación en Literatura Infantil y Juvenil / Crítica e Investigação em Literatura Infantil e Juvenil, editado por Ana Margarida Ramos e Isabel Mociño González e coordenado por Lourdes Lorenzo García, Blanca-Ana Roig Rechou y Veljka Ruzicka Kenfel (2011, ISBN 978-972-8952-17-4). Para esta edição, reúnem-se textos que abordam diversas temáticas, a partir de diferentes paradigmas teóricos dos Estudos Literários. A génese destes textos teve o seu primeiro ensaio nas reflexões e nos debates levados a cabo no 19º Congresso Bienal da International Research Society for Children´s Literature (IRSCL), sob o lema Literatura para a Infância e Diversidade Cultural, que decorreu na Universidade Johann Wolfgang Goethe (Frankfurt-Alemanha), no mês de agosto de 2009. Esta reunião foi propiciada pelo professor Hans Heino Ewers, da IRSCL, que desafiou a ANILIJ a assumir a responsabilidade de coordenar uma secção com conferências e comunicações em língua castelhana, a fim de dar visibilidade à investigação nesta língua, até ao momento ausente dos eventos organizados pela IRSLC. A ANILIJ, juntamente com a sua secção ELOS, conseguiu a participação de quarenta especialistas em Literatura para a Infância e Juventude, que apresentaram as suas reflexões e propostas em castelhano. Fruto das reflexões levadas a cabo durante o congresso e em reuniões posteriores realizadas por diferentes grupos de investigação, apresenta-se esta monografia, intitulada Literatura Infantil y Juvenil y Diversidad Cultural/Literatura para a Infância e Juventude e Diversidade Cultural, que acolhe trinta e cinco estudos, provenientes dos vários espaços linguísticos ibéricos, do espaço ibero-americano, do alemão e do inglês. Entre eles, há a destacar as reflexões realizadas em torno da influência dos mediadores no sistema literário, da tradução, dos editores, assim como estudos comparados, de modalidades literárias e temáticas relacionadas com a migração/emigração, o multiculturalismo, a mitologia, a guerra civil espanhola, o género, as identidades, os valores e os estudos de autores clássicos, sem esquecer a educação literária como metodologia para levar a cabo a formação leitora. Esta tesis ofrece un panorama extenso del genero family novel, desarrollado en Inglaterra en el s... more Esta tesis ofrece un panorama extenso del genero family novel, desarrollado en Inglaterra en el siglo XIX, asi como el acercamiento a la escritora inglesa Charlotte Yonge, una autora de family novels ya olvidada, desconocida en Espana, no canonica, doblemente marginalizada en su condicion de mujer escritora para mujeres jovenes en edad de formacion y considerada antifeminista por la mayoria de los estudios criticos. En la ultima mitad del siglo XIX se instauro en Inglaterra una practica de lectura diferenciada de acuerdo con el genero del lector, con la finalidad de instruir a los miembros mas jovenes de la sociedad victoriana sobre las principales ideologias, costumbres y reparto de roles. A lo largo del siglo XIX innumerables mujeres escriben para mujeres jovenes en un afan de proporcionarles lecturas adecuadas. Tanto la educación de Yonge como sus profundas creencias religiosas ligadas al movimiento tractariano han influido en esta consideración. A través del análisis de The Daisy Chain (1856) y otras family novels de la época no solo intento explorar un panorama cultural y social complejo, sino también poner de relieve aspectos menos conservadores en la obra de Yonge. La mayoría de los críticos defienden la tesis de que las ideas religiosas de Yonge son incompatibles con el estudio de sus family novels desde el punto de vista feminista y, sin embargo, considero que Yonge claramente se incluye en una tradición que culminará con la aparición de un nuevo concepto de novela para mujeres jóvenes a finales del siglo XIX en Inglaterra.

En la última mitad del siglo XIX se instauró en Inglaterra una práctica de lectura diferenciada de acuerdo con el género del lector, con la finalidad de instruir a los miembros más jóvenes de la sociedad victoriana sobre las principales ideologías, costumbres y reparto de roles. A lo largo del siglo XIX innumerables mujeres escriben para mujeres jóvenes en un afán de proporcionarles lecturas adecuadas. A pesar de que la obra de Yonge influyó de manera decisiva en autoras posteriores, como es el caso de Louise May Alcott, sus novelas han sido, en términos generales, poco atractivas para la crítica, muy probablemente debido a lo que muchos consideran su carácter antifeminista.
