Gunkel’s Deconstruction (MIT Press 2021). I focus on the relationship between deconstruction and truth. I hold that the concept of truth is indispensable for deconstruction since truth introduces correctness conditions for the deconstructive method. However, I claim that truth, being essential and primitive for deconstruction, is fundamentally inaccessible for being analyzed by the latter. ------------------------- Received: 19/10/2022. The argument has a form of the so-called Diagram Puzzle, according to which the same features make diagrams cognitively reliable (and desirable) and unreliable (and non-desirable). I argue that to solve the Puzzle we have to accept the instrumental interpretation of diagrams, according to which diagrams are instruments of reasoning comparable to calculators. Instrumental view on the nature of diagrams leads to the problem of content determination: the claim that instruments can determine thoughts’ content, entails that, for example, a calculation carried out with fingers has a different content that the same calculation carried out with abacus. If instruments do not determine content, they can be seen as instruments that reveal the content of thoughts, but they do not change the thoughts content. I argue that diagrams are epiphenomenal which means that they cannot in...

The author claim that an essence of the avant-garde movement was the desire to form the world in accordance with an artistic project, which should have give a harmony and a beauty of the reality, but in fact was only a reflection of the will of power of soviets. In this perspective the Soviets and Soviet art, i.e. social realism were true successors of avant-garde and ones who continued its project instead of making it dead. The main thesis here is that social realism took over the avant-garde dream of a new world and made its own, what made avant-garde itself useless. The first part of the paper explores historical and personal connections between avant-garde artist and Soviet authorities, but also – basing mostly on reflections of Boris Groys – an ideological nexus between them. The second part is dedicated to social realism and its most perfect form of artwork – Stalin. The aut...

Po pierwsze, w skrócie przedstawię wyniki badań we współczesnych naukach o poznaniu dotyczące mechanizmów wyjaśniających naturę doświadczenia estetycznego w kontekście szerszego doświadczenia zmysłowego.

Abstract: On the basis of Kazimierz Świrydowicz's view on the thoery of iconic signs, I critically discuss semantical theories of iconic signs that are based on resemblance and anti-conventionalism. I present main desiderata, that should be covered by an adequate semantic theory for iconic signs, as well.

The aim of the paper is to discuss the issue of content and cognitive function of epistemic emotions such as feelings of correctness and incorrectness. I claim that a proper explanation of such should take into consideration the non-metarepresentational, non-criterial, and non-discursive character of epistemic emotions. In comparison with the issue of primitive normativity and rule-following, I argue that we can connect epistemic emotions to the problem of meaning and claim that a class of epistemic emotions, i.e. a feeling of correctness and incorrectness is a necessary condition of meaning.
