A woman in our society is a non- person, a slave to the master man. An average Indian girl is brought up with typical mentality that a husband's home is a "Sheltering Tree",from where there is no escape and her relationship is the bond of seven birth.That Long Silence is about self doubt and fears which Jaya undergoes till she affirms herself . The Binding Vine deals with the personal tragedy of the protagonist Urmi to focus attention on victims like Kalpana and Meera; victims of man's lust and woman helplessness.The Dark Holds No Terrors is a story about women's dilemma, her insecurities and how she overcome her fear.My research shows that a better understanding and communication between two sexes can make a marriage a successful one. Now is the time to get rid of the conservative patriarchal society where women are treated as if they are born only to please their husband, take care of his family and to give birth (especially to male child) .Women are much more than this and that is why we need an equal society, where neither man is superior nor woman, they both are equally important and responsible.

The aim of the paper is to present the woman of today who have comprehended that their inferiority is not designed in heaven but it is the creation of male-dominated society.  Women are trying to unshackle themselves from subordination by defining their potentiality.They are aghast with the male notion of women's place and are redifining themselves as well as their proper place in male controlled society. They can put up with the exploitation and discrimination no more . They are trying to abolish gender discrimination prevailed in the society by revolting against sexual politics and gender requirements .

Outwαrdly, mαn-womαn relαtionship αppeαrs to be bαsed on mutuαl understαnding αnd fαith, but crush αnd dαmαge by the evils such αs mαle ego; mαle-dominαtion αnd gender discriminαtion. On exαminαtion, the doctor informs her thαt she hαs been rαped, in the process of which she is so bαdly injured thαt she is lying l ike α vegetαble neither deαd nor αlive. The mother' s reαction to this news is quite predictαble. She tells Vαnαα hystericαlly, " It' s not true, you people αre trying to blαckmαil my dαughter' s nαme." (Shαshi Deshpαnde, 1992 , p. 58 .) Lαter on, cαtching α hint of the conversαtion between Vαnαα αnd Dr. Bhαskαr, the doctor in chαrge, she recoils in feαr αgαinst the word, ' report.' She cries " No, no, no. Tell him, tαi, it' s not true, don' t tell αnyone. I' ll never be αble to hold up my heαd αgαin, who' ll mαrry the girl, we're decent people, doctor," she turns to him, " don' t tell the police." The nαrrαtor highlights her immediαte concern here which is thαt the rαpe should remαin α secret. In writing αbout rαpe, Deshpαnde hαs not αttempted αnything new but the wαy she hαs portrαyed this sordid drαmα is very reαlistic.

In this paper, the main aim is to describe the requisite issue of the migration to present the pain and the problems that are faced by the immigrants by understanding the term 'Diaspora' in Jhumpa Lahiri's, The Namesake. The novel, The Namesake, has so many diasporic expressions such as language as a barrier, alienation, culture identity, relationship between parents and children and nostalgia. The novel tells a story about the assimilation of an Indian Bengali family from Calcutta, the Ganguly into America, over thirty years (1968-2000). Methodology and Approach: The author has consulted the primary and secondary sources as part of her research. This research uses qualitative literary analysis of Jhumpa Lahiri's The Namesake, which focuses on the themes of the identity crisis and diasporic elements. The paper is based on textual analysis aided by secondary sources to explore the impact of migration on identity formation. Outcome: Through this paper, the researcher has found that "The Namesake" complexly portyrays the intense struggles of identity and belonging faced by migrant people. It outlines how cultural heritage and personal yearning shape as well as complicate the protagonist's and his surroundings journey. Conclusions and Suggestions: The study concludes that this novel profoundly captures the complexity of identity crisis. The researcher has tried to explore comparative analysis with other diaspora literature also to get to know more about how different cultural backgrounds shapes and influence identity formation to enrich the understanding of multiculturalism more effectively.

A writer presents in her/ his oeuvre what s/he sees and observes happening around the social atmosphere with a purpose and a prospect. The women writers too are the parts of the community putting their experience, their observation and their views regarding societal norms and practices which are mostly patriarchal.
