DR. ASHWANI KUMAR DUBEY is the National President of Environment and Social Welfare Society, Khajuraho and Editor-in-Chief of "International Journal of Global Science Research, India". He is currently working as Guest Professor of Zoology in Department of Higher Education, Madhya Pradesh, India. He did M. Sc. in Zoology with specialization of Ichthyology in 1991 from Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. He obtained his Ph. D. Degree in 1995 entitled "Responses of Antioxidants, Lipid-protein Interactions and Lipid Peroxidation in Heteropneustes fossilis to oxidative damage exposure" from School of Studies in Zoology, Vikram University, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. His research field was Biochemistry, Free Radical Biology, Toxicology and Stress Monitoring. He has published several research papers in Foreign Journals including Pergamon press UK and several Books in reputed publisher including Germany.

It is beautifully coloured non-venomous constrictor snake, brownish with black cross bars lodged with white ocelli on anterior part, two longitudinal blackish stripes on sides of posterior part, two parallel black stripes on neck, a black streak each below and behind eye and whitish below.

Fish diversity increases the economic success of the aquatic ecosystem and implies that the area has become more efficient. Fish are not only useful as source of food, medicine and economic value but also plays a crucial role in the second tropic level of the aquatic ecosystem. Adverse effect of environment, climatic changes, increasing water temperature (Dubey & Parihar, 1992), declining water level (Dubey et al., 2011), tremendous use of pesticide and xenobiotic compound (Dubey, 1995), routines dumping of city garbage and garlanding in the aquatic bodies affected the fish productivity hence decreasing the number of aquatic organism specially fish species in the aquatic ecosystem. Dam conserve a rich variety of fish species which supports to local fishermen and the commercially fisheries. Therefore, in the present investigation preliminary observations of fish diversity were carried out in the Rangwan Dam of Chhatarpur District, Madhya Pradesh India. Twenty seven fish species under nine families were observed initially. It is concluded that the Dam has high Fish-diversity with good economic potential. To conserve and maintain the Fish-diversity, anthropogenic activities should be controlled and further need to assess the water quality of this Dam.

Thus, so many of areas of the India suffer from severe water shortage like Chhatarpur. Ichthyodiversity increases the economic success of the fisheries pond and implies that the area has become more efficient. A fish are not only useful as source of food, medicine, and economic value but also plays a crucial role in the second tropic level of the aquatic ecosystem. Therefore, in the present investigation preliminary observations of the Catfishes were carried out in the different water body of Chhatarpur city. Following species were found initially viz Wallago attu, Ompak bimaculatus (Bloch) Clupisoma garua, Mystus seenghala, Mystus aor, Mystis vittatus (Bloch), Heteropneustes fossilis (Bloch), and Clarias batrachus (Linneus), an unequal distributions were observed.
