However, the idea that data centers are one of the major factors contributing to this energy demand is correct but needs to be considered under certain context. In the scenario that data centers will not integrate efficient usage of Software and Hardware into a single place, the energy consumed might be even higher. Therefore, we acknowledge the increase in energy consumed by data centers in a centralized location but we also advocate that having distributed and individual IT would increase even more the energy consumption.

However, addressing energy efficiency in data centers is a multidimensional problem that comprises optimization in cooling system, power distribution, networking, renewal energy, software and hardware. This paper describes the impact of proper design of software and better utilization of hardware to reduce energy consumption in data centers. In this paper, a pilot data center with off the shelf servers and video streaming components are used to demonstrate the effect of different hardware and software in energy consumption.

It clari.es and explores the requirements and solutions to realize the concept. The crucial issues elaborated with solutions are: de.nitions of target and its location, its naming requirements and mechanisms, its roaming among location servers, acquiring spatial location information over IP networks. Recently, issues of location-based applications

The cloud computing and the software defined networking (SDN) paradigms constitute suitable tools for mobile networks to efficiently handle the increasing video traffic. In this paper, we focus on content and, in particular, video delivery services on top of emerging and next generation cellular networks which employ SDN in their core, mainly from a business standpoint. We analyze the stakeholders and their business interests and relationships, also providing a value network and business model analysis for both existing and emerging use cases of interest.

Ad hoc networks have to compete with existing wireless technologies that already provide networking capabilities with low cost. The main driver for Ad hoc networks is to have a zero-cost and self-created IP network. We consider scalability as the main inconvenince for future deployment of Ad hoc networks. In this paper we analyse the scalability in a real testbed and we propose a simple and novel solution based on relay nodes. The relay nodes require consuming additional resources that users may not be willing to support. We use Game Theory to demostrate that users will cooperate if a rewarding mechanism is implemented. Therefore, the proposed solution for scalable Ad hoc networks requires a tight interaction between routing and MAC layer to enforce the rewarding mechanism. A new node architecture different from the OSI layering structure is required.
