Wireless Sensor network is a steadfast growing and an emerging subject in the engineering world. ... more Wireless Sensor network is a steadfast growing and an emerging subject in the engineering world. It is an ad-hoc network which consists of small Sensor Nodes that possess definite quantity of sensing, computing and transmitting power. These nodes sense the obligatory information from the surrounding, do essential calculations and transmit the finished information to the Base Station (BS). One of the key factors that affect the transmission of the data is the routing protocol. Depending on various prerequisites the routing protocols are classified as Flat, Hierarchical and Location Based routing protocols. Power Efficient Gathering in Sensor Information Systems (PEGASIS) is a near optimal, chain based, hierarchical routing protocol that outperforms Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) protocol and has its major applications in sensing the environmental factors. Energy Efficient PEGASIS Based (EEPB) protocol and Improved Energy Efficient PEGASIS Based (IEEPB) are two adaptations of PEGASIS protocol. In this research deficiencies of EEPB protocol are worn down by IEEPB protocol. The simulation results compares EEPB protocol with IEEPB protocol and shows that IEEPB protocol has enhanced performance than EEPB protocol in terms of number of packets loss, delay, energy consumption and throughput.
