Tabloid Tidbits: Woman stabs future father-in-law over misread marriage opposition 2008,4,20
Yukan Fuji 4/15 By Ryann Connell
A woman is now facing an attempted murder charge after she stabbed her fiance's father because she felt he opposed her marriage plans, only to learn the man was happy to see his son tie the knot, Yukan Fuji (4/15) reports.
Arrested was unemployed 27-year-old Yukie Kondo, who is accused of stabbing the 73-year-old father of her 37-year-old fiance.
Kondo admits to the allegations, saying she attacked the old man during a drunken fit because she thought he was going to speak out against her plans to marry his son.
"Both my fiance's parents had told me off before about how bad my housework was, so I figured they were opposed to our marriage," Kondo told the police.
Unfortunately for the suspect, though, she'd got it wrong.
"There was never anything like that," says Kondo's alleged victim, who sustained serious stab wounds but is expected to make a full recovery.
Yukan Fuji notes that Kondo visited her fiance's home in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, and started drinking by herself because her lover wasn't there.
After a while, she started screaming at her future in-laws, blasting them for opposing her marriage plans.
Despite the elderly couple's protestations, Kondo picked up a knife from the kitchen and drove it into the old man, Yukan Fuji quotes the police saying. (By Ryann Connell)
