WellSpan Health often experienced both surpluses and deficits of platelets over time. They wanted to create a more steady and reliable supply of platelets for their patients and did so by employing a test "Verax PGD" within their transfusion services laboratory that allowed them to rule out bacterial contamination, and thereby extend the life of their platelets.
According to Dr. DiComo, “We now have a best practice for ensuring patient safety and extending platelets to days six and seven, which provides better resource management, saves money and most importantly supports us in delivering exceptional patient care.”
This course will provide insights about the diagnoses of ASD/ID, underlying functions of behaviors, environmental factors that influence behaviors, and the use of various behavioral support strategies that can assist the patient and caregiver to manage their level of stress. These skills will increase the confidence of medical staff to effectively initiate and safely complete a medical procedure with patient populations with ASD/ID.
In the future, we will expand this education to the other ancillary areas as well as to our physician groups, parents and support groups.
