David & Carr

David & Carr is a duo consisting of trance musicians Peter "Petrograd" Carr and David "Wes" Johnson. Born and raised in Minnesota, Peter "Petrogad" Carr began listening to electronic music at the age of 16. Soon after, he decided to delve deeper into the world of trance, quickly becoming familiar with mainstream DJs. He attended his first event later that same year, and he was hooked. Before long, Carr was the proud owner of two new CDJ's and a beat-up mixer, playing non-stop until finally he made the plunge to vinyl. Beginning with house parties, Carr's skill quickly spread, both on his college campus and on the airwaves as a regular on internet radio stations such as ETN.fm, progressing from his campus to gigs around the town of Duluth. Petrogad teamed up with David "Wes" Johnson in the Fall of 2006 to start what would be known as David & Carr.

David "Wes" Johnson came onto the dance scene just as epic trance swept the world at the beginning of a new millennium, with his style of hard trance becoming noticed. David's early work was quickly signed to many early-known trance labels, including Moonshine Records and Flashtraxx. As his music progressed, he refined his production talent, becoming known as an anthem trance producer. Despite his production skill and musical talent, David was very familiar with DJing. Starting at the age of ten, he always had a passion for the music, and quickly becoming one with the turntables. David has hosted hundreds of radio shows across the country and around the world.

Third Day

Third Day is a Christian rock band formed in Marietta, Georgia during the 1990s. The band was founded by lead singer Mac Powell, guitarist Mark Lee and former member Billy Wilkins. The other band members are bassist Tai Anderson and drummer David Carr. The band's name is a reference to the biblical accounts of Jesus' rising from the dead on the third day following his crucifixion. The band was inducted in the Georgia Music Hall of Fame on September 19, 2009. They have sold over 7 million albums in the United States and had 28 number one radio hits. Their fans are known as "Gomers" after a song on their second album about Gomer.

History

Forming years and independent recordings (1991–1994)

In 1991, high-schoolers Mac Powell and Mark Lee formed Third Day as a Christian music group with pianist Billy Wilkins and guitarist August McCoy. McCoy left the following year to pursue tertiary education. At a 1992 event at Lee's Church, Third Day performed alongside a band called the Bullard Family Singers, which featured David Carr and Tai Anderson. Third Day invited Carr and Anderson to join them shortly after.

David Carr (American football)

David Duke Carr (born July 21, 1979) is a former American football quarterback. He was drafted by the Houston Texans first overall in the 2002 NFL Draft. He played college football at Fresno State. Carr has also played professionally for the Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers. He is the older brother of Oakland Raiders starting quarterback Derek Carr.

Early years

David Carr attended Valley Oak Elementary School in Fresno, California. He continued on to Fresno's Kastner Intermediate School, where he proceeded to break a number of California D-I middle school records as Quarterback for the Thunderbirds. After moving to Bakersfield, California, Carr attended Stockdale High School.

College career

Carr began as the starting quarterback at Fresno State during the 2000 and 2001 seasons after redshirting in 1999. While he was quarterback, the Bulldogs went 7-5 and 11-3. In his senior season the team beat Colorado, Oregon State, and Wisconsin, all members of BCS conferences. There was speculation about whether the Bulldogs would qualify for a BCS bid, something then unheard of for a BCS non-automatic qualifying conference team. They climbed to as high as number 8 in the polls, and Carr was on the cover of Sports Illustrated. During his collegiate career Carr completed 587 of 934 passes for 7,849 yards. Carr threw 70 touchdowns versus 23 interceptions, and he won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award during his senior year.

David Carr (journalist)

David Michael Carr (September 8, 1956– February 12, 2015) was an American writer, columnist, and author. He wrote the Media Equation column and covered culture for The New York Times.

Early life

Carr was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Joan Laura Carr (née O'Neill), a local community leader, and John Lawrence Carr. He had three brothers and three sisters and grew up in the suburb of Minnetonka. He attended the University of Wisconsin–River Falls and the University of Minnesota, majoring in psychology and journalism.

Career

In the early 1980s, Carr got his first job at the alternative weekly Twin Cities Reader where he became its editor. He also edited the Washington City Paper. He wrote extensively about the media for The Atlantic Monthly and New York.

He joined The New York Times in 2002, where he was a cultural reporter and wrote The New York Times Carpetbagger blog. He remained at The New York Times until his death.

In his 2008 memoir, The Night of the Gun, Carr detailed his experiences with cocaine addiction and included interviews with people from his past, tackling his memoir as if he were reporting on himself. The memoir was excerpted in The New York Times Magazine.

David of Bulgaria

David (Bulgarian: Давид) (died 976) was a Bulgarian noble, brother of Emperor Samuel and eldest son of komes Nicholas. After the disastrous invasion of Rus' armies and the fall of North-eastern Bulgaria under Byzantine occupation in 971, he and his three younger brothers took the lead of the defence of the country. They executed their power together and each of them governed and defended a separate region. He ruled the southern-most parts of the realm from Prespa and Kastoria and was responsible for the defence the dangerous borders with Thessalonica and Thessaly. In 976 he participated in the major assault against the Byzantine Empire but was killed by vagrant Vlachs between Prespa and Kostur.

However, there's also another version about David’s origin. David gains the title "comes" during his service in the Byzantine army which recruited many Armenians from the Eastern region of the empire. The 11th-century historian Stepanos Asoghik wrote that Samuel had one brother, and they were Armenians from the district Derjan. This version is supported by the historians Nicholas Adontz, Jordan Ivanov, and Samuil's Inscription where it’s said that Samuel’s brother is David. Also, the historians Yahya and Al Makin clearly distinguish the race of Samuel and David (the Comitopouli) from the one of Moses and Aaron (the royal race):

David, Chiriquí

David (Spanish pronunciation: [daˈβið]) officially San José de David is a city and corregimiento located in the west of Panama. It is the capital of the province of Chiriquí and has an estimated population of 144,858 inhabitants as confirmed in 2013. It is a relatively affluent city with a firmly established, dominant middle class and a very low unemployment and poverty index. The Pan-American Highway is a popular route to David.
