Pinocchio
Pinocchio (/pɪˈnoʊkioʊ/;Italian: [piˈnɔkkjo]), the name a variant of common "pinolo" (pine seed), is a fictional character and the protagonist of the children's novel The Adventures of Pinocchio (1883) by Italian writer Carlo Collodi. Carved by a woodcarver named Geppetto in a small Italian village near Florence, he was created as a wooden puppet but dreamed of becoming a real boy. He has also been used as a character who is prone to telling lies and fabricating stories for various reasons. The story has appeared in many adaptations in other media. Pinocchio has been called an icon of modern culture and one of the most re-imagined characters in the pantheon of children's literature.
Fictional character biography
Aspects of Pinocchio's character vary depending on the interpretation, although basic aspects such as his creation as a puppet by Geppetto and the size of his nose changing due to his lies or stress remain present across the various formats.
Pinocchio is known for having a short nose that becomes longer when he is under stress (chapter 3), especially while lying. His clothes are made of flowered paper, his shoes are made of wood and his hat is made of bread (page 16 of Collodi's Le Avventure di Pinocchio). In this, the original tale, Collodi describes him as a “rascal,” “imp,” “scapegrace,” “disgrace,” “ragamuffin,” and “confirmed rogue,” with even his father, carpenter Geppetto, referring to him as a “wretched boy.” Upon being born, Pinocchio immediately laughs derisively in his creator’s face, whereupon he steals the old man’s wig.
Pinocchio (1957 TV-musical)
Pinocchio, a 1957 television production of Pinocchio, was a live (and live-action) musical version starring Mickey Rooney in the title role of the puppet who wishes to become a real boy. Based on the novel by Carlo Collodi which also inspired the classic Walt Disney animated film, this version featured a now-forgotten new score by Alec Wilder and William Engvick. It was telecast once on NBC as a television special, and, as far as is known, never repeated again, or even restaged with a different cast as was Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. Nor has it ever been issued on VHS or DVD. Other notable actors who appeared in the special included Walter Slezak (as Geppetto), Fran Allison (as the Blue Fairy), Martyn Green (as the Fox), Jerry Colonna (as a Ringmaster), and Stubby Kaye as a Town Crier, a role he repeated in Wilder and Engvick's 1958 television musical, Hansel and Gretel. Pinocchio was directed by noted Broadway choreographer Hanya Holm.
This was the second of many versions of Pinocchio that have been written especially for television, the most recent being in 2008. The first television Pinocchio was a satirical version featured as an episode of The Spike Jones Show in 1954. Jones himself played the title role.
Pinocchio (Pin-Occhio song)
"Pinocchio" is a 1993 electronic song recorded by Italian music group Pin-Occhio. This instrumental used the music created by Italian composer Fiorenzo Carpi and which was the main soundtrack of Luigi Comencini's film, Le avventure di Pinocchio. The song was notably cover by Pepeto at the same time as the original one and peaked at #21 in France. A massive hit was recorded in 2005 by Pinocchio, an animated character, under the title "T'es pas cap Pinocchio".
Pin-Occhio version
It was the debut single of the band off the album Pinocchio Vai!! on which it appears in two versions : 'Colladi rave remix' and 'original version'. The song achieved success, particularly in France where it hit number ten on 29 May 1993 and remained in the top 50 for 25 weeks, and in Belgium (Wallonia) where it reached number four.

Pinocchio version
Pinocchio, an animated character, recorded a cover of this song under the title "T'es pas cap Pinocchio", but added lyrics devoted to children. It was the lead single off the album Mon Alboum! and was a huge hit in France and Belgium (Wallonia), where it reached number two. In France, it remained for 39 weeks in the top 100 and earned a Diamond disc. The German version of "T'es pas cap Pinochio" was called "Klick Klack".
