Sith

The Sith is an organization in the fictional Star Wars universe. It is an ancient interstellar kratocratic government led by those who seize power through force or cunning. Sith characters are frequently depicted as amoral, sadistic and violent. The Sith Order established several Sith Empires and have undergone numerous incarnations throughout their existence. The Banite Sith Order, as depicted in the Original trilogy and Prequel trilogy, was founded by Darth Bane; this sith dynasty lasted between circa "1,000 BBY-4 ABY"; (Before Battle of Yavin/After Battle of Yavin; "0 ABY" being the destruction of the first Death Star) ending with the death of Palpatine and Darth Vader. During this "Banite dynasty" there existed only two sith members at a time: a master and an apprentice.

Overview

The Sith are dedicated to sith philosophy and to mastering the dark side of the Force. The Sith members, known as Sith Lords or Dark Lords of the Sith, traditionally use the title Darth-prefix before their Sith name. The Sith are the archenemies of the quasi-religious Jedi and, like them, their main weapon is the lightsaber. While Jedi are subservient to the Force and aid the Galactic Republic by utilizing the Force for peace, knowledge and defense, the Sith prefer to exploit the Force for power, aggression or personal gain; desires that inevitably led to both imperial conquest and their own self-destruction.

List of Star Wars species (F–J)

This is a list of Star Wars species, containing the names of fictional sentient species from the Star Wars franchise beginning with the letters F through J. Star Wars is an American epic space opera film series created by George Lucas. The first film in the series, Star Wars, was released on May 25, 1977 and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon, followed by five sequels and three prequels. Many species of alien creatures (often humanoid) are depicted.

Falleen

The Falleen, a Star Wars species, are a race of human-like reptilian people who come from a world called 'Falleen' in the Midrim region of the galaxy. They can change the color and hue of their skin to convey their emotional states and can also affect the emotional state of others. Males of the race have strong pheromones which can attract women of most species easily. The females have the same talent. The Falleen seldom leave their world due to the belief that their species is superior to all others. Notable minor (villain) character from this race is Prince Xizor. Another major villain was Darth Karrid of the Old Republic.

Sith (game engine)

The Sith engine is a game engine developed by LucasArts. The game Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II is based on this engine, and its expansion, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith, is based on a slightly updated version.

The engine was used in Grim Fandango as a basis for the GrimE engine, and in Star Wars: Droid Works. A modified third-person view version of the code with dramatically rewritten lighting, collision, rendering and tools was renamed to Jones engine and used in Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine.

Technical features

The Sith engine is an early example of a scripted game engine. Most object behaviors are implemented with the integrated COG scripting language or defined parametrically using a template system which allows simple inheritance.

The engine is also an example of a portal engine. Level geometry is rendered as a series of negative-space convex polyhedrons connected by adjoining polygons. Levels require no preprocessing and hidden surface determination is computed at run-time.
