Human’s defensive instincts are to turn away from situations that could be potentially hazardous. The importance of the influence of gender in a crisis situation is important to fully understand; in addition, would the gender of a person hinder human’s overestimation of good-natured people (Eisenberg & Miller, 1987). The purpose of the current study was to examine the difference of altruistic behavior when it is manipulated by the gender of the person in need of aid. There were 20 undergraduate female participants from the ages of 18 to 25. Participants were asked to rate on a Likert-scale of how likely they were to help someone in distress (man/woman). The results were nonsignificant (p = ns). The gender of the person in distress did not influence the likelihood of receiving aid.
