From the ages of time immemorial, water has played a basic role in the development of man. Water has and is used in diverse ways; it has always been used in ways an individual thinks it can serve him best thus serves different purposes. The following are a few; domestic, industrial, agricultural, etc. Research has shown that most settlements were feasible because of the presence of water. Group three members of the Civil Engineering Department, Kumasi Polytechnic, were tasked, to undertake preliminary geotechnical investigation and further prepare a detailed report based on our findings for a proposed design of a water supply system for Pease community. The community is located in the Bosomtwe District in the Ashanti Region. The community has a population of about 2000 who are predominantly farmers. On this backdrop, the project is designed to have a drilled borehole, which will be mechanized using a submersible pump to lift water from the bore into the proposed overhead tank for subsequent distribution under gravity to the selected locations within the community. This report has been prepared in accordance with the requirements outlined by the Road and Highways regulatory bodies and highlights the summary of the whole study. This report covers field investigations, laboratory investigations, analysis of the design. The final chapter of this document covers observations and recommendations made by the group. Pictures and calculations relating to this design are found in the appendix of this document.
