Call for papers 6/2024 Sculpture and Photography StudidiScultura è lieta di annunciare la Call for papers per il suo sesto numero, previsto per l’autunno del 2024, che sarà dedicato al tema Scultura e Fotografia. L’invito è rivolto a studiosi di scultura antica, moderna e contemporanea, e a storici della fotografia. Partendo dal complesso rapporto tra scultura e fotografia dall’Ottocento ai tempi odierni, saranno benvenuti gli articoli dedicati ai seguenti temi: • la documentazione fotografica della scultura e dei suoi processi creativi dalle origini all’età contemporanea, in relazione agli enormi cambiamenti che hanno coinvolto sia le pratiche scultorie sia i processi tecnici e i materiali fotografici; • la scultura nelle campagne di documentazione fotografica; • dinamiche di circolazione delle fotografie di sculture antiche ed eventuali rapporti con gli scultori moderni (casi di fotografie come fonti visive per gli scultori); • la fotografia della scultura nell’editoria artistica (es. la divulgazione fotografica della scultura); • lo sguardo dei grandi fotografi sulla scultura (es. focus su singoli fotografi contemporanei e la scultura antica); • storia fotografica degli scultori antichi e moderni (fortuna fotografica degli artisti); • gli archivi fotografici degli scultori; • gli archivi fotografici degli studiosi di scultura; • gli usi della fotografia da parte degli scultori: la pratica fotografica degli scultori e il loro rapporto con le fotografie delle proprie opere; • la trasformazione della fotografia in pratica scultorea: gli artisti contemporanei e i linguaggi fotografici utilizzati per creare opere da leggere e comprendere in rapporto alla luce o alla plastica; • l’uso della fotografia come mezzo di divulgazione della scultura contemporanea attraverso i canali multimediali. Tutti i testi (in italiano, inglese, francese e spagnolo) saranno sottoposti inizialmente all’approvazione dei Comitati della rivista, e dopo la loro accettazione, saranno soggetti a una doppia peer review anonima. La data di consegna degli abstract (max 2000 battute) – insieme a un profilo biografico dell’autore – è fissata al 15 novembre 2023. Gli articoli completi dovranno essere consegnati entro il 30 marzo 2024. Per questo numero monografico gli articoli non dovranno superare le 40.000 battute, con un numero massimo di 20 fotografie; dovranno inoltre essere redatti secondo le norme redazionali scaricabili al link: https://www.studidisculturalarivista.it Fondata nel 2015, «Studi di Scultura» è una rivista scientifica dedicata alla storia della scultura dall’età moderna a quella contemporanea, e costituisce ancora oggi un unicum in Italia. The invitation is addressed to studies of ancient, modern and contemporary sculpture, and to historians of photography. Starting from the complicated relationship between sculpture and photography since the Nineteenth century to the present, articles dedicated to the following topics will be welcome: • the photographic documentation of sculpture and its creative processes from its origins to the contemporary age, in relation to the huge changes that have involved both sculptural practices and technical processes and photographic materials; • sculpture in photographic documentation campaigns; • dynamics of circulation of ancient sculptures photographs and possible relationships with modern sculptors (photographs as visual sources for sculptors); • the photography of sculpture in art publishing (e.g. the photographic dissemination of sculpture); • the gaze of great photographers on sculpture (e.g. focus on contemporary photographers and ancient sculpture); • photographic history of ancient and modern sculptors (photographic fortune of the artists); • the photographic archives of the sculptors; • the photographic archives of sculpture scholars; • the use of photography by sculptors: the photographic practice of sculptors and their relationship with the photographs of their own works; • the transformation of photography into sculptural practice: contemporary artists who use photographic languages to create works to be read and understood in relation to light; • the use of photography as dissemination of contemporary sculpture through multimedia channels. All texts (in Italian, English, French and Spanish) will submitted initially for approval to the journal’s Committees, and after their acceptance, will be subject to an anonymous double peer review. The delivery of the abstracts (max 2000 characters) – together with a biographical profile of the author – has been set the November 15, 2023. Complete items must be delivered by March 30, 2024.
