Pakistan, the sixth most populous country (91.71 million)in the world, is battling to keep the balance between economic growth and environmental protection. At present the government is mainly focusing on meeting the energy and food needs of the country and environmental protection is lacking serious attention. Pollution (air, water, and soil), sanitation and loss of wildlife and biodiversity are growing environmental health issues in Pakistan. In order to deliver demand led solutions to these multifaceted challenges development of institutional and technical capacities in the countryis prerequisite. Transnational Education (TNE) provides institutional mobility in tertiary education and through British Council facilitated links we were successful in developing a much needed baseline courses work and underway the research for environmental health related issues. The Government of Pakistan will certainly use the data...
The present review paper highlights the situation of public health and environment in Pakistan. In country different environmental related problems are responsible for the unhealthy life. Major issues in the country are air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, climate changes, food insecurity and improper sanitation and waste management. Environmental problems are the reason for unsafe/unhealthy public health. For healthy life we need clean, safe, pure, healthy, supportive and better environments. The environment in which we live is a major determinant of our health and wellbeing. We all are dependent on the environment either directly or indirectly, for attaining the basic necessities of life. We needed materials to sustain our life, such as clean air, nutritious food, safe drinking water and safe places to live.

The study in hand investigates the determinants barriers of environmental education and remedies for alleviation of those barriers. This study briefly highlighted the importance of environmental education in Pakistan. Reason of barriers to environmental education is also discussed in paper. Major barriers are poverty, governmental posteriority, lack of social interaction and defective educational curriculum. Regulatory bodies, educational institutions, media and social interaction are main suggestions are discussed in this paper. Data is collected from 7 citizens from Islamabad the analysis. Sustainable growth is possible if people have awareness about environmental education. Through environmental education, environmental can control.
The paper was intended to appraise the relative preparedness of recipients of instructions in NCE Biology courses for the enviable role of national environmental protection in the country. Using a questionnaire designed on a Likert scale of four response variables to generate information from some Biology students from three Colleges of Education in Kano State, the study noted that the course programme provided by the syllabus as well as the practical drills does not give learners the needed competences for national environmental protection endeavours. It was however observed that the tcacher-trainces could develop the necessary skills for environmental matters if concrete environmental concepts are entrenched in their course programme and taught as a strategic curriculum course.

One Health Paradigm to Confront Zoonotic Health Threats: A Pakistan Prospective2022 •
The emergence and re-emergence of zoonotic diseases significantly impact human health, particularly those who live in impoverished areas and have close contact with domestic or wild animals. Nearly 75% of zoonotic diseases are transmitted directly from animals to humans or indirectly via vector/agent interactions between animals and humans. Growing populations, globalization, urbanization, and the interaction of the environment with humans and livestock all play roles in the emergence and spread of zoonotic diseases. “One Health” is a multidisciplinary concept aimed at improving human, animal, and environmental health, but this concept is not widely accepted in developing countries. In Pakistan, environmental, human, and animal health are severely affected due to a lack of sufficient resources. This review article provides an overview of the most common zoonotic diseases found in Pakistan and emphasizes the importance of the “One Health” concept in managing these diseases. Given the...
Major Environmental Issues of Pakistan
Major Environmental Issues of Pakistan2023 •
Pakistan encompasses a wide spectrum of climatic zones, giving rise to a diverse range of climate change impacts. The influence of human activities, coupled with evolving hydrology and land use patterns, exerts a profound influence on both food grain production and the resilience of ecosystems. Among the most imperiled regions are the grasslands and mountainous forest ecosystems of the Himalayas and the ecosystems found in the Sundarbans. The forests within Pakistan, which house some of the planet's most biologically diverse ecosystems, face an existential threat due to the rapid processes of deforestation and urban expansion. Furthermore, this region bears the unfortunate distinction of being the epicenter of some of the world's worst air pollution. The Thar Desert, expanding at a rate of 100 hectares annually, poses a substantial threat, potentially encroaching upon approximately 13,000 hectares of cultivated lands and pastures in both India and Pakistan. Access to freshwater in South Asia is notably seasonal, with water supplies becoming increasingly imperiled due to rising temperatures, shifts in river dynamics, and a higher frequency of coastal flooding. This article discusses major environmental issues faced by Pakistan and the resultant problems encountered by majority of people. Major environmental issues discussed here are climate change, water pollution, air pollution, deforestation, desertification, water resources and lack of potable water, biodiversity loss, food security risks, droughts, irregular weather patterns, heatwaves, exceptional rise in temperature, water scarcity, depletion of energy resources, and degradation of river and marine resources. Some recommendations have also been provided on the basis of major environmental issues identified and resultant problems.

Essential veterinary education in conservation medicine and ecosystem health: a global perspectiveWe should definitely like to see Pakistan without any environmental issue but currently there are lots of challenges. As in fact we are growing at the rate of more than 8 percent in GDP and creating lots of economic opportunities, this is also growing stress and implications on environment. The constant growth in population is another massive challenge. As we grow economically, we have to decide at this point in time that we ensure better quality of life. At the end of the day, when we have more money but our quality of life suffers and we can't breathe and drink pure water; then it is not worth it. Now the Government must show scores of commitment to guarantee that as we grow, we also ensure that the quality of life of our citizens is made better and we, as a country, might be called an environment friendly country. The government should announce the 'National Environment Policy' with considerably increase in the budget for environment. Let us have a look at some of our burning environmental issues. 1. Need for tree plantations in urban centres – There is no doubt that planting trees help in maintaining good environment. Trees in urban centres help clean environment and reduce pollution. Islamabad, for instance, is one of most protected cities of the world with lot of vegetation and clean healthy environment. So there is need to plant trees in other cities like Islamabad.
