The new generation of steel grades that can be used in automotive construction is increasing day by day and the material selection becomes very important both in the design and manufacturing processes due to the development in the materials. In this study, data on tensile strength, formability, load that weld joints can bear, fatigue stress, corrosion resistance and price criteria of high strength low alloy (HSLA), dual phase (DP), three phase (TRIP) and complex phase (CP) steel sheet materials used in the automotive industry were determined and a study was conducted for the material selection using the MOORA (Multi Objective Optimization on the Basis of Ratio Analysis) ratio approach. It was concluded that the selection of DP grade steel sheet material according to the MOORA ratio approach among the materials used in the study would be the optimum choice.

The paper presents application of multi-criteria optimization to steel alloy composition determination aimed at obtaining improved properties material for crankshafts production. Neural network model of steel mechanical characteristics in dependence on amounts of its alloying elements were used for simulation purpose. Then several Pareto optimal solutions were found based on obtained by simulation numerous compositions in the investigated region of interest.

For the proper selection of Mg alloy a TOPSIS, COPRAS, MOORA, ELECTRE and SAW Method is applied and then finally ranked the best magnesium alloy. The paper presents information about the notations, the structure and the properties of steels applied in automotive industry. A modeling-based approach is recommended to design the composition and for a suitable processing improving the mechanical plasticity attributes of steels with martensite structures. Development of high strength steel sheet with improved strainhardenability for automotive application2019 •
Advance high strength steel with minimum UTS of 780 MPa is industrially developed utilizing continuous annealing line (CAL) and Gleeble thermo mechanical simulation. An outline of superior elongation, improved strain hardenability, enhanced strength of developed Fe – C – Mn – Si TRIP assisted steel is described. Correlation amid Simulated result and industrially annealed steel are stabilized for microstructure and mechanical property. Annealing condition is optimized for best combination of strength and formability accordingly. CCT diagram for the selected composition from JMatPro is utilized to optimize rapid cooling rate and over aging section temperature. Final microstructure of developed steel comprises tempered martensite, granular bainite with retained austenite distributed in polygonal ferrite matrix. Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS) are steels considered to be the major materials for future applications in automotive production and other sectors of the economy. In this article, assessment of advanced high strength steels (AHSS) used in automotive industry was discussed, including the steel compositions, microstructure and mechanical properties developed during thermal processing, advantages and disadvantages, their potential applications and performance in service. Various strengthening mechanisms are employed to achieve a range of strength, ductility, toughness, and fatigue properties of these materials. As opposed to the cold formable single phase deep-drawable grades, the mechanical properties of AHSS steels are controlled by many factors, including the following; phase composition and distribution in the overall microstructure, volume fraction, size and morphology of phase constituents, as well as stability of metastable constituents were discussed. Finally, a brief summary of these important steels was highlighted.

Multiple Performance Optimization of Carburized Steel Using Taguchi Based Moora Approach2022 •
Materials selection. The choice of materials is a sorted one is the process by which engineers remove one or a small number of items that can be found most suitable. Successful engineering design material selection is critical to the process. As much as possible your preparation must be strong and durable that's what you want. Security to consider there are also implications. You see, with poor material, there are many more dangerous failures arising from examination a very common occurrence in industries. The weighted product method is a multi-criteria decision-making process there are many alternatives, and based on several criteria we must determine the best alternative. Alternative: Specific strength (Mpa), Specific modulus (Gpa), Corrosion resistance, Cost category. Evaluation Preference: AISI 1020, AISI 1040, ASTM A242, AISI 4130, AISI 316. From the result, it is seen that AISI 4130 is got the first rank whereas is ASTM A242 is having the lowest rank. As a result, AISI 4130 is ranked first, while ASTM A242 is ranked lowest.
