The Roman necropolis of Rovello Porro (CO), part of which was explored between 1977 and 1978, is made up of burials almost entirely attributable to the 1st century AD and relevant to an unidentified settlement located along one of the minor routes that connected the large settlements of Mediolanum (Milan) and Novum Comum (Como). The materials from burials and other discoveries attributable to burials disturbed by agricultural work or of other unidentified provenance are presented here divided into classes and allow us to identify local productions and materials introduced by trade or movements of individuals who circulated in the area. An additional index, not part of original publication, has been added, for easy reference, to summarise the attribution of the contributions to the various authors as per signatures shown at the beginning of each chapter.
The Consolation defends many claims about human nature and personhood, and depicts an exemplary human person, Boethius the character. This chapter synthesizes the book’s often puzzling and apparently divergent claims, while illustrating them with the depiction of the character of Boethius. It begins by outlining Boethius’ account of human powers and human nature, and then considers the Consolation’s account of human personhood. While Boethius’ account of personhood in the Consolation lacks the technical precision found in his Trinitarian works, he does give an account of some fundamental characteristics of persons, consonant with his more explicit treatment in other texts. Finally, the chapter considers three distinctive themes in the Consolation’s account of human persons. First, this text controversially depicts human nature as able to change into that of a god or of a beast. Second, the Consolation depicts all human persons as microcosms, including within ourselves all aspects of the cosmos. Third, Boethius, like many classical writers, depicts human persons as most understandable in relation to beauty. Since this theme sums up earlier ones, the chapter closes there.
Design and Construction of Bipolar Junction Transistor to Field Effect Transistor Characteristics Trainer
DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF BIPOLAR JUNCTION TRANSISTOR TO FIELD EFFECT TRANSISTOR CHARACTERISTIC TRAINER2021 •
This paper focuses on the development of a BJT/FET characteristic trainer, designed to facilitate practical understanding and application of Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs) and Field Effect Transistors (FETs) in amplifying electrical signals. Unlike vacuum tubes, BJTs operate as current amplifying devices, while FETs rely on voltage changes. The paper explores the semiconductor materials crucial for transistor operations, particularly in generating, controlling, and amplifying analog or digital signals. It provides a detailed study of how NPN transistors, in particular, use a small current to control a larger current. Additionally, it outlines the fundamental concepts of FETs, with a specific focus on Junction Field Effect Transistors (JFETs). To establish the project's foundation, relevant literature was reviewed to understand prior work in this field. Design models and calculations were employed to analyze the transistor characteristic unit. The paper employs MATLAB/SIMULINK for theoretical modeling and simulation to assess the circuit's functionality, including key parameters such as voltages, resistance, current, transistor characteristics (hFEor β), and continuity. The results obtained from this study align with the design models, confirming the trainer's effectiveness in facilitating the practical understanding of BJTs and FETs.
