It has been suggested that prenatal exposure to n-3 long-chain fatty acids protects against asthma and other allergy-related diseases later in childhood. The extent to which fish intake in pregnancy protects against child asthma and rhinitis symptoms remains unclear. We aimed to assess whether fish and seafood consumption in pregnancy is associated with childhood wheeze, asthma and allergic rhinitis. We pooled individual data from 60 774 mother-child pairs participating in 18 European and US birth cohort studies. Information on wheeze, asthma and allergic rhinitis prevalence was collected using validated questionnaires. The time periods of interest were: infancy (0-2 years), preschool age (3-4 years), and school age (5-8 years). Abstrak. Tanaman kelor mempunyai khasiat sebagai antibakteri. Penambahan ekstrak daun kelor (Moringa oleifera Lamk.) di dalam sediaan gel diperkirakan dapat mempengaruhi stabilitas fisik sediaan tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji stabilitas fisik sediaan gel yang mengandung ekstrak daun kelor (Moringa oleifera Lamk.) pada berbagai konsentrasi (1%, 3% dan 5%). Uji stabilitas fisik sedian gel dilakukan setelah penyimpanan selama 14 hari pada suhu ruangan dan uji cycling test (2o±40o C). Parameter stabilitas adalah organoleptis, uji daya sebar, uji daya lekat, pH, viskositas dan cycling test. Hasil ketiga formulasi menunjukkan stabilitas yang sesuai persyaratan sediaan gel diuji pada pengamatan organoleptis, daya sebar, daya lekat, pH, viskositas dan hasil uji cycling test. Around 2 billion people worldwide engage in video games and a similar number of English language learners are anticipated by the year 2020. It can be assumed that many language learners are also ‘gamers’, and that a language learner may play a video game to learn English. This article focuses on the language learning affordances in offline video games. General game-based learning principles identified by Gee are used as the method to identify and classify the learning affordances in a selection of video games. These learning principles are explained and then used to detail general learning opportunities inherent in a variety of video games. It suggests that language learning opportunities on video-games are too varied and that the scaffolding guidance of a teacher might be needed. It concludes by proposing that contextualized live video-game-like immersive experiences could also be conducive to language learning.

This book proposes a new historical framework for the analysis of the relationship between communist Poland and neutral Austria during the final decade of the Cold War. The tragic Polish crisis of 1980–1982 is examined within the context of Poland’s relationship with the wealthy, neutral country of Austria. By exploring the political meetings and negotiations that took place around the introduction of martial law in Poland, this book sheds light on Polish-Austrian bilaterial relations as seen from the perspective of Polish diplomatic documents. Divided into three parts, the book begins by illustrating Austria’s attitude to reforms in Poland in the early 1980s. The second part focuses specifically on the imposition of martial law in Poland, and the third part explores the cooperation between the two countries through the form of investments and environment protection. Particular emphasis is placed on Polish attempts to recruit Austrian politicians in order to overcome the political isolation in which Warsaw found itself after December 13, 1981. The author analyses the political boundaries that Austria could, and wanted to, cross, in order to help the Polish regime, offering insights into Austria’s fears of financial loss as a result of the collapse of the regime.

The article presents the concept of race developed in 1913–1938 by the so-called Lviv typological school, constituting one of the factions of the then actively developed Polish anthropology. The author discusses the concepts of this school in the broad context of the era, stating that the concepts of the school, including the concepts of its founder – Jan Czekanowski, built on the grounds of the Mendelian inheritance theory and fascination with quantitative methods, despite seeking objectivity were determined by the then spreading idea of human racial diversity.

International Pilgrimage Conference "The transformation of pilgrimage in today's Europe. Spirituality - Practice - Infrastructure" , 2025

Pilgrimage has experienced an unexpected boom in Europe since the 1970s. In the meantime, there have been a number of striking changes in terms of quality, even breaks. In order to explore these phenomena, which are highly revealing for the religious-spiritual and ideological field in Europe, we invite you to a three-day conference in Donauwörth, a centuries-old pilgrimage centre. The aim is to explore questions of the sociology of religion and their interfaces to psychological, theological and touristic perspectives. The conference will take place as part of the 5th Donauwörth Pilgrimage Days. The event is organized by the Sociology of Religion Section of the German Sociological Association in cooperation with the Municipal Tourist Information Donauwörth/VHS and other supporters from the pilgrim scene. Through responses, the contributions are embedded in further research and their significance for practice is revealed. This enables researchers to expand their contacts with the field.
