Khajod Solid Waste Processing Plant

Solid Waste Processing Plant

KHAJOD SOLID WASTE PROCESSING PLANT October 29, 2012 VISIT REPORT DOCUMENT KHAJOD SOLID WASTE PROCESSING PLANT TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING MASTER OF ENGINEERING SARVAJANIK COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY, SURAT Prepared by: Manoj L. Patel This is a report on SOLID WASTE PROCESSING PLANT at Khajod, Surat which we visited on 29th October 2012 timings: 12:15 pm to 01:00 pm. The person who attended us was Mr. Navshadbhai Chauhan (Company Appointed Person) Subject: Infrastructure and Transportation Planning KHAJOD SOLID WASTE PROCESSING PLANT October 29, 2012 Introduction: This plant is handle by Hanjer biotech energies PVT. LTD. Hanjer accustomed for the integrated multi product municipal solid waste processing technology. an also ISO 9001:2000 & ISO 14001 certified company. Due to some reason there is a blast (fire) in the plant on 23 October and that reason should also prevent us to inside plant visit. so whole process carried out here explain by verbally, by flow charts and on model. Step by step each procedure explains and in same way here we describe briefly. We discuss only related to this visit process which will take you to procedure carried out generally at solid waste processing plant. The solid waste collected at this site come from different area or zone of solid waste transfer station, Surat Purpose of this report is the study related to the infrastructure and transportation planning subject M.E. (Town and Country planning) SOLID WASTE PROCESSING PLANT: Implication brief details of technology involving processing of MSW & various benefits derived by operating plant will describe here. Accrues as a format of output: 1. BIO ORGANIC FERTILIZER(COMPOST) 2. GREEN FUEL (RDF) 3. SAND (ECO BUILD) 4. PLASTIC GRANULES Hanjer biotech energies PVT. LTD. has a proven track record of a solid waste processing plant using multi product integrated technology since April 2005 with a capacity of 300 MT/day, at Rajkot on 30 acres of land on lease of years. the company has adopted a unique combination of INTEGRATED MULTI PRODUCT PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY FOR MSW PROCESSING, ideally suited for mixed Indian MSW. The technology involves 3 key efforts of RECYCLE, REUSE AND REDUCE the MSW to such an extent that the residue inert for landfill is drastically reduced to 20% of the input quantity thereby saving precious land and tipping fees for the ULB. Subject: Infrastructure and Transportation Planning KHAJOD SOLID WASTE PROCESSING PLANT October 29, 2012 Various benefits derived by operating plant: • • Reduces the consumption of land for scientifically landfill of residue inert. • Reduces health problem around the MSW dumping ground. • Reduces financial burden for MSW disposal on the ULB. • Reduces air pollution caused by unscientific dumping and burning of MSW. • Avoids underground water contamination. • All products extracted and processed are eco friendly. Minimum content of biodegradable matter in residue inert material reduces methane emission. Highlights of the processing plant: • • • • Technology capable of handling mixed MSW. Completely covered processing plant. Odourless plant. No Leached formation. BIO ORGANIC FERTILIZER (COMPOST): Manufacturing process: Bio-organic fertilizer is made by accelerated bio conversion process under controlled condition using remains of fruits, vegetables, food and by products of agro process industry. Under this process the organic materials are transformed into highly stable hums like amorphous substances, Which serves as lifetime for soil health. Bio-organic fertilizer is dark brown to blackish, free flowing, coarse powder. it is free from viable weed seeds, germs and insect larvae. SPECIAL PROPERTIES: The physical properties: • • • • • Ensure improvement of soil structure. Better root aeration. Higher water retention. Improvement of soil health. Conditioning of clay and sandy soils. The chemical properties: • • Higher nutrient retention and slow release feeding to the crop. Balanced crop nutrition results in forceful appearance of flowering & fruiting cycle. Uses: Bio-organic fertilizer is used alone or in combination with chemical fertilizers at the time of sowing/ transplantation as drilling or broadcast. it can also be applied as side dressing along the rows or encircling around the plants. since this is a fully digested material it can be applied at any time of the crop feeding stage without the fear of nitrogen robbing effect or creation of heat in root zone as against normal cattle manures. Subject: Infrastructure and Transportation Planning KHAJOD SOLID WASTE PROCESSING PLANT October 29, 2012 2. GREEN FUEL (RDF): Dry municipal solid waste is dried, crushed, screened and packed into cake form to be sold in the market as a replacement against conventional fuel like imported coal, Indian coal etc. Uses: Looking to the high quality parameters, green fuel can be used for generation of heat & energy by end users. As green fuel is a direct replacement of coal it can be use by any conventional coal consumer without any modification being carried out to their existing boilers. As per the analysis report and emission report it is evident that green fuel is an eco friendly product. 3. SAND (ECO BUILD): Manufacturing process: The inert material is further processed into sand thereby reducing the quantity of remain inert going to landfill. The material is purified by reducing the organic content already present. Uses: It can be used against conventional sand required for construction purpose. This also reduces the requirement for dredging in the water bodies which leads to ecological imbalance. 4. PLASTIC GRANULES: Manufacturing process: The plastic after being segregated from mixed MSW is sorted into various grades and is converted in to granules. As there is no usage of water in the process, there is no pollution being caused. Uses: Recycled granules reduce the requirement of fresh plastic and are used in manufacturing of waste plastic bags, agricultural pipes, moulding, ropes etc. We are thanking to our respected madam (Prof. Sejal Bhagat) and sir (Prof. Jignesh Patel who arranged the visit and increased one more experience in our lifes. Thanking to Mr. Navshadbhai Chauhan who give precious time to make our visit successful. Subject: Infrastructure and Transportation Planning
