Autour du contenu des vases et amphores antiques, Centre Vivant Denon, musée du Louvre, 18 avril 2024, 10h-12h30Depuis 2023, le département des Antiquités grecques, étrusques et romaines est partenaire du programme Erasmus+ « Digiamphorae », un consortium de six institutions françaises, roumaines et bulgares sur l'étude des amphores grecques découvertes dans l'ouest de la mer Noire. Ce séminaire de recherche présente le résultat des analyses de contenu réalisées sur plusieurs amphores découvertes en mer Noire et à Chypre, ainsi que plusieurs contextes rhodiens.

The Impact of Gamified Instruction on Students’ Learning Outcomes: Systematic Review of Experimental StudiesThis systematic review critically explores the intervention design and findings of the experimental studies that were published between January 2012-December 2020 in a number of digital libraries and databases and had the effect of a gamified instruction on students’ learning outcomes in their focus, with the aim of identifying what constitutes success or the lack thereof in the given context. The found effect(s) of gamified instruction on students’ learning engagement and achievement are discussed in relation to the a) intervention design, its flaws and their potential impact on reported outcomes and b) prevalent practice in gamification research. The discussion is structured around data collection sources, sample size, and intervention duration, but also the characteristics of learning technology, learning approach, course content, type of games and game elements. Development of a Devanāgarī Optical Character Recognition (OCR) System2022 •
This paper outlines the objectives of the research project titled “Development of a Devanāgarī Optical Character Recognition (OCR) System.” Devanāgarī is an abugida script, which has been adopted as the writing system of several languages such as Hindī, Marāṭhī, Nepālī, and Sanskrit. Recently, digitizing Sanskrit texts written in Devanāgarī has been one of the most pressing and important tasks in the field of Sanskrit philology. Prosopographical Database for Indic Texts (PANDiT), Sanskrit Knowledge-System Project, and Göttingen Register of Electronic Text in Indian Languages (GRETIL) are some of the leading research projects. However, owing to the costs associated with time and human labor, building a database based on manually input text data is challenging. We have seen this in some preceding projects led by scholars in Germany, India, and Japan. We expect that the existing Devanāgarī OCR systems, developed often based on the contemporary Indic languages such as Hindī , may not accurately recognize the more complicated Sanskrit consonant clusters. In light of this situation, a team comprising Sanskrit language experts from the University of Tokyo and AIOCR developers from Toppan Inc. have undertaken a cooperative research project. This project aims to develop a Devanāgarī OCR system and establish a Sanskrit text database automatically digitized by the OCR.
