The issue of sustainable competitiveness of local areas has sparked a growing interest among scholars and stakeholders in recent years. The aim of this work is to contribute to the elaboration of a simple destination management framework built on the concept of sustainable competitiveness. The paper is divided into three parts. In the first part, we try to define sustainable competitiveness of tourism destinations. In the second part, we present a system for measuring sustainable competitiveness. In the third and last part, we discuss how this system can be inserted into a destination management model.

In the last few years, the term "resilience" has entered powerfully in the policies and practices concerning the territorial development. Concept not new and born in the mechanical and engineering field, it has moved on to ecology and, subsequently, to social sciences, including geography. Precisely from a geographical point of view, that is to say, interpreting the territory through the paradigm of systemic complexity, it is possible to read this phenomenon in a dynamic and procedural sense: the response to change, due to different types of trauma, not simply in an adaptive way (passive), but through a reaction, that is by implementing a "regenerative" response from the territory and, therefore, from its communities. In other words, there is a community resilience that manifests itself through the ability of human groups to resist radical change, not only due to natural but also social upheavals. These are the assumptions to investigate the phenomenon of slow tr...

Problemi di sviluppo sostenibile: il caso del turismoThe tourism forms raise doubts about their capacity to be sustainable, especially compared against the landscape and the local society. Through a survey on the history of the tourism process in Sardinia and the analysis of some case studies we try to understand if instead is possible to imagine new forms of tourism. Sardinia itself is as an ideal place to study issues related to tourism, as along its coast, within fifty years, has developed a real tourist town, different in different places but with the characteristic of being always been guided by what is called a tourism ideology. The article questions whether it is possible, although within contexts compromised by tourism ideology , to find new forms of tourism capable of regenerating the relationship between them, the landscape and local societies.
