In this paper, I want to present, first, a syncretistic account of existence, which tries to show not only that two first-order properties and one second-order property of existence are compatible, but also why we need their cooperation in order to properly understand what existence overall amounts to. Second, I want to discuss up to what extent Marty’s account of existence, which inter alia mobilizes Brentano’s attitudinal approach to it, can be legitimately considered to be a syncretistic account as well. In theory, the answer to this question should altogether be negative. Marty may certainly be taken as a, admittedly nonstandard, pluralist about existence, yet pluralism is not syncretism. Yet one might still wonder whether the three notions Marty mobilizes in order to account for existence play the same role as the three aforementioned properties play in the above syncretistic account, so as to configure a specific form of syncretism. But also once so reformulated, the question is to be answered in the negative. First, if Marty’s account were an even specific syncretistic account, it would hardly be tenable. Second, if it were nonetheless a syncretistic account, it would just be the previous syncretism in disguise, so as to loose the specificity of an attitudinal approach.

The braconid larval parasitoid Cotesia flavipes Cameron was introduced from Asia into East and Southern African region starting in 1993 to control the invasive exotic maize stemborer Chilo partellus (Swinhoe) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae). A quasi-experiment was constructed using farmers that applied sublethal dosages of pesticide in assessing the counterfactual for the impact of the establishment of the introduced parasitoid in five countries in the region. Logistic regression method was used to estimate the probability that farmers' would inadvertently exclude parasitoids in their maize field. Thereafter the propensity score matching method was used to find corresponding farmers excluding parasitoids among those who did not for yield comparison. The geographical information system (GIS) application software with ecological, agricultural and land cover data bases was used to classify and select the ecological zones surveyed, to estimate the spread of the parasitoid. After the acceptance of Islam by Turkic people, the Arabic script was introduced and became prevalent in the region of Turkestan. From the time of the Karakhanid dynasty, the first Turkic-Islamic state, numerous works were composed and transcribed using the Arabic script. These works now serve as valuable historical texts for scholars and researchers. Arabic script remained in use in Kazakhstan until the 1920s. Despite sporadic research efforts to uncover and analyze Turkic texts transcribed in the Arabic script, these works received limited attention during the Soviet era. However, since Kazakhstan gained independence, there has been a surge in studies aimed at exploring these historical texts. In such studies, the transcription of the texts is typically conducted using Cyrillic or Latin script, and in some cases, both are employed. Following the initiation of Kazakhstan's transition to the Latin alphabet in 2017, there has been renewed interest in transcribing Turkic texts written in the Arabic script. This study aims to re-evaluate the transcription alphabet employed in previous research on historical texts in Kazakhstan and propose a new transcription system that is suitable for the new Latin script. The proposed alphabet will be applied to the Chagatai manuscripts of Divān-i Hikmet, Qıṣṣa-i Sulṭān Ḥubbı , Destūr'ül-'ilāj and Durruʾl-ʿacāyib, located in Kazakhstan. The last two works, which have significant historical and linguistic value, have not yet been extensively studied by scholars. Destūr'ül-'ilāj is a medical book on Central Asian herbalism and medicine, written in Chagatai, a language with Classical Period features. Durruʾl-ʿacāyib is a collection of 66 chapters that narrates hadiths and belongs to Chagatai's Post-Classical Period.

8th International Conference on New Approaches in Education, 2024
Facing increased competition and challenges, schools must rethink their functions and roles in fulfilling the needs and demands of different stakeholders. Community-friendly schools in Hong Kong, which integrate community resources to help students understand and contribute to social issues, not only facilitate students’ engagement in learning activities and their learning attitudes but also positively impact students’ willingness to serve the community and the school’s reputation. This research adopts both qualitative and quantitative methods, utilizing questionnaires and interviews as data-gathering instruments. The sample consists of 86 students, 19 teachers, and 30 community stakeholders for the questionnaires, while interviews were conducted with a total of 8 participants, including students, teachers, and community stakeholders. The performance of these schools is assessed in terms of their impact on students’ understanding of the community, willingness to serve the community, and school reputation. These aspects are evaluated through three tiers of community-friendly schools: community learning activities, activities in cooperation with community organizations, and community services organized by the school. The data analysis employs descriptive statistics, analyses of variance, and linear regression models to highlight the significant impacts of these institutions. It examines changes in students' behavior before and after admission, showing significant positive correlations between the level of student engagement in community activities and improvements in understanding of the community and willingness to serve the community. This evaluation framework aims to offer insights into the effectiveness of community-friendly schools in meeting educational and social objectives.
