Considering the rhetorical elements in the Buddhist text “The True Aspect of All Phenomena” opens the possibility of teaching students a more mindful approach to writing.
Journal of Poetry Therapy, 2023
This article describes Mindful Writing (MW) as an approach that connects us to the here and now without judging the experiences of the body, feeling, mind, and understanding. From that vantage point, we write from a place of centeredness and equanimity. The author proposes that entering silence develops intimacy with the self, and that the four foundations of Mindfulness, along with the four Brahma viharas, are the perfect platforms for establishing a connection with writing that goes beyond the personal. MW nurtures itself from the Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) models. MW invites us to listen attentively to all that is, because we are part of a large web of interrelations. MW inscribes itself in the field of conscious embodiment and breathwork. MW is enhanced through the practice of RAIN (recognizing, allowing, investigating, and nurturing).

This article discusses contributions of Eastern philosophical traditions, in particular, Buddhism and its concept of mindfulness-to the field of psychology. Psychology has long dealt with the concept of mindfulness to understand the results of meditation in several contexts, such as psychotherapy and education. The works of Thich Nhat Hanh on meditation and mindfulness represent one of the theoretical pillars of this discussion. Recent research on mindfulness in the field of scientific psychology provides additional links for this collaborative effort between religious tradition and science. Research on this theme inevitably leads to considerations of the ethical, moral, environmental, ecological , emotional, and spiritual dimensions involved in Buddhist traditions and in different psychological theories. These traditions and theories converge to benefit persons undergoing situations of psychological and spiritual suffering. This article concludes by sharing new possibilities of comprehending the concept and practice of mindfulness, based on writings from the Buddhist tradition that focus on its phenomenon from a broader and deeper viewpoint.

Interest in the Buddhist concept of mindfulness has burgeoned over the last few decades as a result of its application as a therapeutic strategy in mind-body medicine, psychotherapy, psychiatry, education, leadership and management, and wide range of other theoretical and practical domains. Although many commentators welcome this extension of the range and application of mindfulness – drawing parallels between ancient contemplative traditions and modern secular interpretations – there has been very little analysis of either the philosophical underpinnings of this phenomenon or of its implications for education. This paper examines the new interpretations of mindfulness in the following areas – meaning and definition, ethical foundations and spiritual ethos – in an attempt to gain a clearer understanding of what is involved in the process of reconstructing the concept of mindfulness. In conclusion, some implications for learning and education are examined in the light of these recent re-interpretations of mindfulness principles and practices. A central thesis throughout is that – although there are many educational benefits of mindfulness in the areas of moral, affective and spiritual education – such potential gains require the maintenance of organic connections between contemporary practices and their foundations in secular Buddhism.

The relevance of histology slides in microscopy cannot be overemphasized. However, a major challenge to many scientists in the field stems from paucity of published data to nearly lack of access to a comprehensive technical guide to prepare tissue samples as needed for practical demonstrations, reviews or diagnostic purposes. The current research project was carried out to produce histology glass slides and photomicrographs, as well as to document the step-by-step procedures for model by concerned practitioners and scientists. The standard procedures for paraffin method of histological preparation were employed. This involves sample fixation, dehydration, clearing, impregnation, embedding, section-cutting, staining and mounting. Harris hematoxylin and eosin were used for section staining. Tissue specimens were sourced from laboratory rats (Rattus norvegicus). Other materials used included reagents- formalin, alcohol, xylene, distyrene plasticizer xylene (DPX) as well as instruments/...
