Paul Klee, a German artist, highlighted the eternal struggle of human beings to synthesize the "inner vision" with "outside experience." "I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free."-Michelangelo "Beauty is the illumination of the soul!"-Poet-Theologian O'Donohue, Art & the Unconscious Psyche-Psychic Life Carl Jung Art-Creativity, Imagination, and [divine] beauty The Italian Renaissance was the epicenter of the Renaissance movement-which was indeed a movement and served as a social consciousness the same as the Enlightenment was-and besides the immortal artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael, there were a number of other important artists as Masaccio, Fra Angelico, Piero Della Francesca, and Sandro Botticelli who made significant achievements leading to the High Renaissance. Leonard Da Vinci observed that "The noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding." That is something I personally can relate to since what I write about is "understanding" versus enlightenment-partly because I believe true enlightenment isn't truly possible without understanding consciousness-spirituality-which mainstream psychology with its materialist bias represses (severely)!
