Phytochemistry, Ethnopharmacology, Pharmacokinetics and Toxicology of Cnidium monnieri (L.) CussonCnidium monnieri (L.) Cusson (CMC) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine that has been widely grown and used in Asia. It is also known as “She chuang zi” in China (Chinese: 蛇床子), “Jashoshi” in Japan, “Sasangia” in Korea, and “Xa sang tu” in Vietnam. This study aimed to provide an up-to-date review of its phytochemistry, ethnopharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and toxicology. All available information on CMC was collected from the Encyclopedia of Traditional Chinese Medicines, PubMed, EMBASE, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Web of Science, and China Network Knowledge Infrastructure. The updated chemical structures of the compounds are those ones without chemical ID numbers or references from the previous review. A total of 429 chemical constituents have been elucidated and 56 chemical structures have been firstly identified in CMC with traceable evidence. They can be categorized as coumarins, volatile constituents, liposoluble compounds, chromones, monoterpenoid glucosides, terpenoids, glycos...
Background Natural medicines are being used for the treatment of various disorders due to pharmacological, therapeutical, and nutraceuticals characteristics. Objectives Current research was planned to explore In vitro pharmacological response of phytochemical constituents extracted from C. monnieri’ seeds using aqueous ethanol (70%). Methods Qualitative and quantitative measurements for phytochemical constituents were performed following reference protocols. Then In vitro antioxidant potential, cytotoxic studies, antimicrobial, and spermicidal pharmacological response of C. monnieri extract were investigated. Results The results of High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) spectroscopy, and Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) explored the presence of wide range of bioactive compounds with significant (p<.05) antioxidant activities. Cytotoxic studies revealed significant (p<.05) protective behavior of C. monnieri evaluated using CtD...

New coumarins and anti-inflammatory constituents from the fruits of Cnidium monnieri2014 •
The fruit of Cnidium monnieri is commercially used as healthcare products for the improvement of impotence and skin diseases. Three new coumarins, 3'-O-methylmurraol (1), rel-(1'S,2'S)-1'-O-methylphlojodicarpin (2), and (1'S,2'S)-1'-O-methylvaginol (3), have been isolated from the fruits of C. monnieri, together with 14 known compounds (4-17). The structures of these new compounds were determined through spectroscopic and MS analyses. Compounds 1, 4-12, and 14-17 exhibited inhibition (IC50 ≤ 7.31 µg/mL) of superoxide anion generation by human neutrophils in response to formyl-l-methionyl-l-leucyl-l-phenylalanine/cytochalasin B (fMLP/CB). Compounds 7, 9-11, 15, and 17 inhibited fMLP/CB-induced elastase release with IC50 values ≤7.83 µg/mL. This investigation reveals that bioactive isolates (especially 6, 7, 14, and 17) could be further developed as potential candidates for the treatment or prevention of various inflammatory diseases.

Nutritive and Anti-nutritive Evaluation of Cnidoscolus aurifolia LeavesThe leaves of Cnidoscolus aurifolia were analysed for their chemical, antinutrients, proximate and mineral element compositions using standard procedures. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, terpenes and tannins while anthraquinones, glycosides and phlobatannins were absent. Proximate analysis indicated high protein content (59.45 ± 0.07%) with crude fibre and fat also present in appreciable quantities. Mineral elements determination showed the presence of calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and zinc. Antinutrient analysis of the leaf extract of C. aurifolia indicated low levels of phytic acid and hydrocyanide well below the lethal doses. An unusually high oxalate level of 404.80 ± 0.11 mg/100 g (dry weight) was also obtained although still below toxic level. These results support the ethnomedicinal and nutritional uses of this plant and suggest that the consumption of leaves of C. aurifolia is not harmful nutritively.

PHARMACOGNOSTICAL STUDIES OF ON Cnicus wallichi DC LEAF2006 •
Cnicus wallichi DC belonging to the family Asteraceae, was studied to fix the parameters for pharmacognostical standards in order to ensure the use of only genuine and uniform materials of such herbal remedies, work on standardization assumes vital significance. Pharmacognostical study has therefore, been carried out, covering detailed morphological and anatomical characters, features of the powdered drug including leaf constants like Vein islet number, Vein termination number, Stomatal number, Stomatal index, Palisade ratio, Powder microscopy of the leaf and stem. Physical constants like ash values and extractive values.

Objective: In the present study we describe in-vitro ef cacy of L. Arecaceae husk ber extract Cocos nucifera (family ) ointment for growth inhibition of four microbes (Candida albicans, Aspergillus fumigatus, Staphylococcus aureus and Trichosporon asahii) that may cause severe infection in eczema patient. : The stability Materials and methods parameters of extract ointment such as physical stability, spreadibility, centrifugation etc. would be performed and found applicable results. The therapeutic effect Tacrolimus 0.1%w/w ointment was compared with marketed product . Results: The shells of L. has rich in polyphenolic compounds and has been reported for arthritis, Cocos nucifera diarrhoea, antibacterial, antiviral and also has inhibitory lymphocyte production. Catechins are avonoids that were present in L shells, already have antioxidant, powerful cellular growth inhibitor and anti-in ammatory Cocos nucifera activity which might be correlated with this study. : The aqueous extract ...
