Background and Aim: Brucellosis is a highly contagious, neglected zoonotic disease of major importance worldwide. The disease is endemic in many countries, burdening healthcare systems and the livestock industry and representing a persistent public health concern in these countries. Brucellosis is considered an important occupational hazard for livestock workers. Limited studies have investigated human brucellosis in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, this study aimed to estimate the prevalence of brucellosis among employees of high-risk brucellosis professions, including veterinarians, animal herders, and abattoir workers in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, and to determine the associated risk factors. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, during the period of January–March 2023. Ninety blood samples were collected from individuals occupationally at risk of exposure to Brucella infections. Serum samples were examined for immunoglobulins (Ig)M and IgG antibodies against Brucella using an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Before sample collection, a predesigned online questionnaire was used to collect the participants’ sociodemographic characteristics and the probable risk factors for human brucellosis. A Chi-square test was used to compare the differences among groups; p < 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results: Among the 90 participants among the high-risk individuals, Brucella IgM and IgG seropositivity were found in 8 (8.8%) and 11 (12.12%) cases, respectively. IgM mono antibody positivity was observed in 4 (4.44%) and 7 (7.77%) of the study population who tested positive for IgG only. Dual positivity for IgM and IgG antibodies was observed in 4 (4.44%) participants. No significant association was determined between seropositivity and age, urbanicity, education, occupation, and duration of exposure (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Brucellosis is a high-risk occupational disease among workers with close contact with livestock. This study demonstrates that the seroprevalence of brucellosis among occupationally high-risk individuals in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, is relatively low compared to other countries in the region. Nevertheless, educational programs should be implemented to improve knowledge regarding brucellosis, particularly among high-risk individuals. La Arqueología se encuentra hoy plenamente inserta en la era informática y digital. Este proceso, común al conjunto de las Ciencias, está suponiendo una importante renovación metodológica de la disciplina, hecho que se materializa en el surgimiento de nuevas líneas de investigación con prometedor futuro. Los métodos de computación juegan en este panorama un papel clave. Estudios de teledetección a partir de imágenes satelitales, uso de drones, datos LiDAR, reconstrucciones virtuales o modernas técnicas de simulación estadística son, entre otros, campos de investigación que requieren el uso de la informática. Este trabajo tiene por objetivo describir aproximaciones analíticas para modelizar y estudiar paisajes culturales pretéritos, su evolución y relación con las sociedades humanas del pasado. Para ello, se propone el uso de Sistemas de Información Geográfica y la estadística espacial, utilizando como marco teórico la arqueología del territorio y del paisaje. Las investigaciones que siguen se articulan en torno al uso de software de código abierto y, en concreto, R Statistics, un lenguaje de programación que paulatinamente se está convirtiendo en una de las herramientas más importantes en la investigación arqueológica actual. Su uso permite realizar investigaciones transparentes, accesibles y reproducibles, al tiempo que promueve la interdisciplinariedad y una democratización real del conocimiento científico.

The Vinland Map carries with it the air of mystery and, some would say, the stench of deception. In the vaults of Yale University and insured for $25M, it is either a colossal fraud or an artifact of unparalleled value. The Vinland Map appeared on the scene in 1957 when a couple of shady characters tried to sell it to the British Museum. Because it was determined that the ink was not typical iron-gall, the map was declared a fake, and the museum decline the offer. The map is considered priceless, if authentic, because it is the first map that has unique information about North America. The major problem associated with the map is that there is no acknowledgement-maybe, no knowledge-that the "Vinland" associated with the map was a real place, a functioning society, on Newfoundland Island. Nobody seems to know the origin of the Vinland Map, except that there is near unanimity that it was made in Germany.

The paper reports a palaeoxylotomical study of petrified palm remains (stem, root, rachis) collected from some fossil sites of Greece (Evros, Lemnos, Lesbos and Kastoria) aged to the late Oligocene to early Miocene. Five species of Palmoxylon were identified: P. daemonoropsoides (Unger) Kirchheimer, corr., P. chamaeropsoides Iamandei et Iamandei, sp. nov., P. coryphoides Ambwani et Mehrotra, P. sabaloides Greguss, P. trachycarpoides Iamandei et Iamandei, sp. nov. and P. phoenicoides Hofmann. Also found were two species of Rhizopalmoxylon (R. daemonoropsoides Iamandei et Iamandei, sp. nov., R. phoenicoides Iamandei et Iamandei, sp. nov.) and Palmocaulon sp. aff. Phoenix L. These new identifications add new elements to the forest assemblages of the Oligocene–Miocene Greek flora, useful for understanding the evolution of the Cenozoic palaeoclimate in the Aegean area.
