PREFACE Dreams fall into two categories those seen or visual and those heard or auditory. The former are symbolic and need interpretation and the later convey a clear message. The dreams that need interpretation highlight the ability and wisdom of the God given gift of interpretation of dreams. It is God who gives gifts (James 1:17) and you cannot afford to be ignorant about God's gifts (1st Corinthians 12:1) in this wicked world (1 John 5:19), the bible commands us to use our God given gifts to serve one another (1st Peter 4:10). One may argue that there is no biblical evidence of the gift of dream interpretation particularly in the New Testament; but Peter identifies the Holy Spirit as a gift (Acts 2:38). And therefore as a gift, He is the greatest reward given to mankind by God through Jesus Christ who promised that Holy Spirit would teach us all things (John 14:26) moreover Peter said that in the last days, the Holy Spirit would enable the dreaming of dreams. There is no doubt that God communicated to us through dreams and as such interpretations belong to God (Genesis 40:8). Despite the bible evidence for dream interpretation (Genesis 40:12, Daniel 2:36) there is still a controversy about whether biblical dream interpretation is valid or even allowable for Christians. Nevertheless, there is a strong Christian tradition and belief that God speaks to a person through dreams. Interpretation of symbols in one's dream must be put in proper context. Dream Interpretation is a divine gift which calls for wisdom, knowledge and understanding, insight, prayer, revelation, fasting and patience. The magicians in (Daniel 2) fell short of the above when theypresented themselves before king Nebuchadnezzar ready to interpret his dream only for the king to ask them to narrate and interpret it, they failed thus the king killed them out of anger and frustration. Perhaps they would gamble with interpreting the symbols in the king's dream after he had narrated his dream to them. Interpretation of dreams takes a unique grace with no shortcut. On the contrary, immediately Daniel a man in whom the spirit of God dwelt was requested to interpret and narrate the dream, he sought God for an answer and graciously revealed to him the King's dream and its interpretation. God has a unique way of exposing falsehood and an exceptional way of defending the truth. Everything that God has not planted will be uprooted (Matthew 15:13) and yet still I know that everything God does will endure forever, nothing will be taken from it. God does it so that people will fear and respect him (Ecclesiastes 3:14) Two of the Old Testament gifted dream interpreters that is to say;- Joseph (Genesis 37) and (Daniel 2) are a testimony that God endowed man with the ability to interpret dreams. In these last days the man of God Apostle Peter has announced in Acts 2:28 that God would pour out his spirit to enable the dreaming of dreams and their interpretations. Therefore, as “Ecclesiastes 1:9” says that, that which has been is what will be done and there is nothing new under the sun. In regard to dream interpretation, God's ways still apply today as in the past. I want to emphasize that I do not write about dreams as someone who has conquered this area with all knowledge but I believe my contribution is designed to stimulate one to seek God in further revelation about dreams and the relevancy of common biblical symbols that appear in dreams. Meantime, this book cannot be irrelevant but should be acknowledged as Holy Spirit inspired in order for one to exploit the opportunity, this book presents in the area of dream interpretation. It should be noted that Satan will use dreams, visions and miracles to deceive unsuspecting people (people who do not have discernment), be sure therefore to test all dreams with the word of God. Remember the bible teaches that God-given dreams are a result of the out pouring of Holy Spirit. This divinely inspired study on dreams cites every major dream and common symbols that may appear in the dreams mentioned in the entire bible. May God be pleased to use this work to help clear up confusion about this subject of dreams during this age where occult symbols are fast replacing Christian symbols in our culture hence influencing the area of dreams with cultic powers. If this book does not work immediately then I suggest one should examine their life, repent and seek further assistance. I pray that this book guides you in your deeper search for the truth of God's word on the subject of dreams. BACKGROUND OF DREAMS The first recorded dream in the Bible is in Genesis 20:3-7 where God warns Abimelech when he took Abraham’s wife Sarah. We must note that the Bible records many instances where God communicates through dreams. In the world today, the work of two notable psychologists Sigmund Freud and Carl Sung who revived western society’s interest in dream interpretation remain a key factor in the secular world’s response to the importance of dreams. Sigmund believed that by analyzing a person’s dreams, he could gain insight into their emotional life. Jung believed and taught that dreams were messages and if we want to live our most fulfilling lives, we better pay attention to them and act on the information being communicated to us from the sub-conscious minds. This was after he had travelled throughout the world collecting dreams from people of all walks of life in the ancient world. The Greek philosopher Aristotle believed that dreams were a result of physiological functions. During the Hellenistic period, the main focus on dreams was centered on its ability to heal; it was believed that dreams offered a vital mechanism for healers to find what was wrong with the dreamer. In Egypt, priests also acted on dream interpretations. In the Greek and Roman era, dreams were believed to be a direct message from the gods or from the dead. In some societies, they believe that the dream world is not only an extension of reality but it is a more powerful world. Dream interpretation dates back to 3000-4000 B.C where Dreams were documented on clay tablets for as long as we have been able to talk about our dreams we have been fascinated with them and have strived to understand them, it is the desire to understand dreams that has made dream interpretation a lucrative business in the first world countries like USA and attention has been given to false prophets, sorcerers, magicians and cults to parade themselves as the hope for dream interpretation. Tracing back to the ancient culture, people had always had an inclination to interpret dreams. This is a controversial topic in our days and should be carefully studied because many have been seriously deceived by dreams and dream interpreters. One of the most common means used in the bible to convey Cod’s will is through dreams. Numbers 12:6 “Then He said. Hear now my words If there is a prophet among you I the LORD Make Myself known to him in a vision I speak to him in a dream.” In the last days. God says he would pour out His spirit on all people for whom the spirit among other things will enable the dreaming of dreams. Acts 2:17 It is important to understand that just because one does not confirm the fact that God speaks through dreams, does not mean that he cannot or does not communicate with us through dreams, what is important is to refer the dreams we receive to the scriptures. Consequently, when we find ourselves with a need to make a decision about a dream that we have received, our first stop should always be ultimately the bible not the dream. It is important to understand and note that not all dreams are God given. Dreams can also be from processes of our soul or be from Satan who is a master of deception. Look at 1 Sam 28, Satan compelled King Saul to seek counsel from a medium. Some studies show that the average person has about 1,460 dreams a year; true or false? My point is to show the sentimental value people attach to dreams especially in the secular world. A Christian website states that if one total up all dreams and visions in the Bible and all the stories and actions which came out of these dreams and visions, you have about one third of the bible which is equal to the size of the New Testament. The bible therefore contains a lot of dreams and plenty of dream interpretation. Dreams and their interpretation should be regarded as gifts of grace and should not only be left to modern psychology which takes dreams seriously as an opportunity to study the unconscious part of human beings. Dreams are very symbolic in nature and we must be careful to know when to take an element in a dream literally and when to see it as representative of something else as helped by Holy Ghost. Many argue that there are no universal standard meanings for the symbols in your dreams, having taken note of that I defer and argue that one can arrive at a standard of what certain symbols represent in the scriptures and the meanings of biblical symbols in the scriptures are not about to change meaning if they appear in your dream. God has chosen to communicate with mankind through dreams and there is no doubt that God guides and counsels us through our dreams and this dates back to the time even before the bible was complied but even after then, the bible has about 121 mentions of dreams described with various symbols revealed about people, actions of people, Animals, Nature, Numbers, colors to mention but a few, there is no doubt that if these images appear in your dreams which is one of God’s mysteries and God’s medium of communication, Dreams require discernment by the Holy Ghost whom by the special grace of God has revealed to man; God’s mysteries. Dreams carry biblical meaning hidden in the scriptures. DREAMS CONTEXT INTERPRETATION Before being able to interprete the dream of someone else, one should know abit about the person as led by Holy Ghost (1John 4:1). If it calls for this then; Know how the characters in a person’s dreams are related to the person. (1Corinthians15:33) Know what the places, objects and Scenes means to the person. (Mathew 6:21) Know if the dreamer is born again by spirit and word. (John 3:3) Know in mind that interpretation of dreams or vision symbols also depend on the cul ture and up bringing of an individual for example Peter in Acts 10:13-15. By culture and tradition, Peter had not eaten anything unclean. “And a voice came to him saying, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat,’’But Peter said Not so Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean……….” Being a Christian most symbols in the dream will come from the word of God and not being a Christian the only truth about the symbols in the dream will only rightly be interpreted for one by the word of God e.g Abimelech who was not a believer but the word of God had interpretation about the message received in a dream within the dream. Genesis 20:3 “But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night and said to him Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken for she is a man’s wife.” INTRODUCTION The English Cambridge dictionary defines a dream as a series of events or images that happen in your mind when you are sleeping. However, I will not necessarily concern myself with the scientific definitions which will therefore prompt me to focus on the Bible which is the inspired word of God for the definition of a dream. In order to be sure; that is not to say that the above definition cannot or is not true but I believe if we have a decision to make, our first stop should always be the bible. The Bible in (Job 33:15) hence defines a dream as a vision of the night where deep sleep falls upon men, in slumbering upon the bed. Dreams are very symbolic in nature and we must discern when to understand them literally and when to understand them as a representative of something else. A symbol is a thing that represents or stands for something else, especially a material object or occurrences representing something abstract, symbols could mean different things to different people. However, I greatly discourage the use of standards which are in violation of Bible standards in order to arrive at the meaning of symbols found in dreams. There are no universal standard meanings for the symbols in one’s dreams but then, dreams we receive from the Lord have deeper meaning hidden in biblically recorded symbols that Holy Ghost empowers us to discern. One may argue that if Holy Ghost will help us discern them let us dream first, then he helps us discern. The bible is the mind of God and Holy Ghost opens to us understanding about God’s thoughts hidden in the scripture about many subjects for example that of dreams. Now that the bible is complete, everything we know or have known or will need to know is found in the Bible. God declared that he would speak through dreams (Numbers 12:6). He declared that he did speak through dreams (Hosea 12:10). And he promised to counsel us through dreams. (Psalms 16:7) Some argue that it is true that God spoke through dreams to some people in the past, but now they say according to (Hebrews 1:1-2) he does not speak to anyone in dreams because he has spoken to us through Jesus. That however is not accurate given the fact that God would speak through dreams. If God speaks to us, he makes sure his message is clearly understood. I strongly believe dreams are the perfect way to hear from God. When you are dreaming, you are quiet, so you cannot ignore him. The bible indicates that God revealed his will to selected people through dreams even today but we need to carefully put our dreams under the authority of the scriptures although many argue that the New Testament gives no great significance to dreams. The fact that the legendary apostle Peter announces the promise of dreaming dreams inspired by Holy Ghost in (Acts 2:17) is a great testimony of the relevance of dreams today. Some scientific observations have proven that dreams can be considered guardians of our mental and emotional well-being. Dream interpretation is by grace; that said, it is important to consider vital features that one should know that can be a guide to accurate and meaningful dream interpretations as follows:- Record your dreams in order to benefit from their basic information necessary for accurate narrative. Direct your concern to those features in your dreams that are of the greatest importance in the spirit contrary to popular thinking. These features are not the same as those that we recognize as important in our earthly lives. Take note of the setting in which the dream takes place. Describe your surroundings, atmosphere, individual, Things that are living and none living. The overall context of the emotion you felt upon waking up from a dream is crucial in the interpretation of the dream. To interpret the dream of someone, it is important that you know or find out about that person if need be. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DREAMS AND VISIONS Dreams occur when a person sleeps while visions usually happen during hours when you are awake. However, the scriptures are sometimes not fully clear whether God is communicating with someone via a dream or vision. For example (Daniel 2:19) states that a secret has been revealed to the prophet in a night vision it is unknown whether Daniel was or was not sleeping when the event occurred. Sometimes the mention of dreams in scripture is independent of visions, Some times both visions and dreams appear in the same scripture. For an example refer to; Daniel 1:17 and Numbers 12:6 The separation confirms the difference and the appearance in the same scripture is not necessarily evidence of similarity but a categorization of both dreams and visions although different but belonging to the same family called mystery refer to; Daniel 2:28 or Colossians 1:26 I will confine myself to dreams and perhaps God willing I will in the near future produce by the special grace of God a study on visions. Meantime inside this book, among the unique features included is the prayer for and against dream symbols inorder for the book not to be just infromative but it also possess the power of delieverance through prayer written for you in this book and it should be made in faith for good results. NOTE; It must be noted that the symbols identified in this book should be interpreted in context of the fact that they could have both negative and positive meaning for example a dream about a “key” means “control” however, given the general context of the dream; it may symbolize either positive control or negative control. Accordingly, I bring it to your attention therefore, that interpretation of dream symbols in this book is biased towards mentioning their bibilical meaning but one must not lose sight of the fact that; Different dream symbolizes mean different things to different people. Satan manipulates dream symbols while disguising as an angel of light. Consequently, it must be emphasized that when faced with a conflict about interpreting a dream, the bible is the true source that sets the parameter for right interpretation of dreams in its over all context no matter how other non-bibilical sources may sound very convenient in their dream interpretation, the bible is over and above all. CHAPTER ONE TYPES OF DREAMS Dreams are one of the most fascinating and mysterious occurrences that humans experience. Dreams do not always tell a simple story and this becomes even more fascinating when people from different cultures, belief and background report of having got similar dreams. We will turn to explore the major types of dreams with a goal of exploring an argument of what dreams are all about which in essence will provide an opportunity of learning more about dreams which ultimately helps us to understand about God’s ways, oneself and the surrounding with a dynamic spiritual perspective. DREAMS FROM GOD ARE CATEGORIZED AS:- PROPHETIC DREAMS These are dreams of events or incidents before Dreams happen. Prophetic dreams occur many times in the bible and are experienced by all sorts of people. Daniel 7:1, Gen 31:24 etc A prophetic dream is a supernatural occurrance that contains foresight. Form the book of Genesis all the way through the Bible dreams are one of the ways that God speaks to his people, (Job 33:14-16) That having been said, every prophetic dream should be checked through 1st Thessalonians 5:20- 21 b) WARNING DREAMS These are dreams from God about life events or A state of something e.g. God gave Abimelech a warning (Genesis 20:1-8) c) IMPARTATION DREAMS God can impart a spiritual gift through a dream like he did to Solomon. E.g. 1 kings 3:5. “At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” d) DESTINY DREAMS God can give a call or direction of life through a dream like He did to Joseph. Genesis 37:5-10 “Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more. So he said to them, ‘please hear this dream, and which I have dreamed: “there we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood around and bowed down to my sheaf………” e) PROVISION DREAMS God can provide a plan to be blessed in a dream like He did for Jacob. Genesis 31:10 “And it happened, at the time when the flocks conceived, that I lifted my eyes and saw in a dream, and behold, the rams which leaped upon the flocks were streaked, speckled, and gray-spotted.” f) GUIDANCE DREAMS God can provide counsel through a dream like he did offer counsel to Paul in Acts 16:9 “And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” g) SPIRITUAL WARFARE DREAMS Dreams can be an alert to pray or give instruction on how to act during times of spiritual warfare like it happened in Joseph’s dream Mathew 2:13 “Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.” (2) SOUL DREAMS These are dreams which center around the activity of the human soul. These dreams are categorized as follows; The GIGO principle This principle is garbage in, garbage out and it applies to whatever we feed our senses and minds with, will invariably find expression in our sleep as explained in Ecclesiastes 5:7 “For in the multitude of dreams and many words there is also vanity. But fear God. Resurfacing memories The soul has capacity to store up memories which many times after time keep resurfacing in your dreams and mind. This may occupy the mind with constant periodic memories even during day time in small intervals e.g. Genesis 41:9 “Then the chief butler spoke to Pharaoh, saying: “I remember my faults this day.” This ‘remembarance’ may cause dreams of resurfacing memories. To much day time activity This simply means dreaming because of the busy day schedule or activity one encounters. Ecclesiastes 5:3 “For a dream comes through much activity, and a fool’s voice is known by his many words.” Own imagination Watching terrifying movies, over worrying or Over thinking about trouble, defeat or anxiety can result in having dreams at night. Isaiah 29:8 “It shall even be as when a hungry man dreams, and look-he eats; But he awakes, and his soul is still empty; Or as when a thirsty man dreams; and look- he drinks But he awakes, and indeed he is faint, And his soul still craves: So the multitude of all the nations shall be, Who fight against Mount Zion.” Falsehood A soul that is captured by the power of deception transforms into believing falsehood and as such spreading it and this in turn can contribute to having false dreams (Jeremiah 23:32) Dreams from Satan are categorized as follows; Nightmares These are dreams that produce a strong negative emotional response. well as the cause of nightmares are varied ranging from distress, active imagination of children, bad health condition, to mention but a few, there is no doubt that nightmares are to a large extent the result of a satanic attack. Take for instance Job who was under a satanic attack. He laments in; Job 7:14. “Then You scare me with dreams And terrify me with visions.” Job supposedly is complaining that perhaps God is responsible for his nightmares; we must remember that God had permitted Satan to attack Job in. Therefore, the nightmares are the making of Satan. Erotic dreams These dreams cause a person to be unattractive and can even make them to be sexually bound. A dream of sexual activity is a sign of an attack by the spirit of lust. Look at (Mathew 5:28) which talks about spiritual adultery resulting from lust which can be passed on through a dream. Ungodly lifestyle dreams This often opens up a door for dreams which gives Satan an opportunity to dismantle character, confidence and control through dreams. The Bible warns us in the book of; 1st timothy 5:14-15 Covenant dreams A covenant is an accepted decision between two parties or more people. A covenant is legally binding. It is irreversible it is the final irrevocable commitment. It is like a chain binding two parties together, certain things are important for forming a covenant, People Words Reason Place Blessings Punishment An evil covenant is like primitive trade by barter where by Satan gives their victim their desire which is falsified by Satan in exchange for their soul and one of the mediums used is occultic covenant dreams hence the warning in; 1st Peter 5:8 “Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” NOTE Occult symbols are fast replacing Christian symbols which are characterized by deception, deceit and demonic genealogies. Every occultic symbol must be brought under authority of the scriptures in order to acquire Godly counsel. This book, with the help of Holy Ghost seeks to bring common symbols that occur in frequent dreams people get under scrutiny of the scriptures in order to acquire Godly counsel. The naming of dreams into three categories is deliberately on purpose i.e. those from God, soul and Satan so all these categories help us to put dreams in their right perspective today; When dreams are one of the most overlooked forms of communication, there is need to rise up and know that dreams are relevant. (Acts 2:17). IMPORTANCE OF DREAMS It is not advisable to use means outside the bible to arrive at the meaning of symbols found in dreams. Caution must be taken that symbols could mean different things to different people but the bible gives particular exceptions that are pure to help in discerning the meaning of symbols in dreams. In the bible, the Lord used dreams for various reasons. However, no matter how real a dream is, one should above all fear God. Ecclesiastess 5:7 says; “For in the multitude of dreams there is vanity. But fear God.” The fear of the Lord is the begginning of wisdom, and wisdom is a supreme thing in helping one to gain understanding about the importance of dreams in the bible. That said; dreams should never be used as a guide for spiritual direction, in any way that would contradict the plain teaching of the scripture. However, notice should be given that dreams have been promised to God’s children. As found in; Joel 2:28 “And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh, your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.” In general, our focus should simply be on knowing the importane of symbols in dreams and relating them to the Lord through His word. Well as the argument that today people get dreams, because of inner and external activity, demonic attacks and psychological factors; we must not lose sight of the truth that God still speaks to us through dreams as now I turn to examine their importance to human kind. God uses dreams to protect His people and also safeguard his plans. (Genesis 20:1-7). Abraham's wife Sarah was beautiful, so beautiful that when Abraham came into a new area he extremly feared that the local ruler would kill him and take Sarah for himself. Abraham told Abimelech king of Gerar that Sarah was his sister (Although she was his half sister he used it wrongly). Abimelech took Sarah into his Harem but God sent a dream telling him not to touch Sarah because she was Abraham's wife. The king returned Sarah to her husband the next morning. The dream had protected Sarah and safeguarded God's plan for Sarah to be the mother of his chosen people. So when God speaks in dreams, man may not perceive it but we should not therefore treat dreams as trash by dismissing our dreams as unimportant, when indeed God may have sent us a message. God sends messeges to us in dreams in order to protect us from impending disaster, change a lifestyle we have been living in or perharps guide us in a direction to take. God uses dreams to confirm his promise. Jacob with his mother’s help stole Esau's first born inheritance, Jacob then fled Esau's anger and on his journey; he had his famous dream of a ladder reaching to heaven on which angels ascended and descended. In this dream, Jacob received God's promise that Abraham’s blessing would be carried on through him. God speaks to Jacob's fears and doubts through a dream in which he reminds him of the promise. God did this because He knows how much we need to be reminded. Genesis 28:10-17 “Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran. So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. Then he dreamed, and behold a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending………..” God uses dreams to offer encouragement to his people. The Medianite and Amalekites armies in Judges 7:12-15, are an example here. There were pegan enemies of Israel. God told Gideon to sneak into the enemy camp at night into the out posts of the camp, while there, Gideon overheard the enemy soldier narrate a dream he had just had. The interpreter, who was also an enemy soldier, mentioned Gideon by name and predicted that Israel would win the battle. Gideon was greatly encouraged by the revelation. It is important to note that God started with a dream in Gideon's life, to work within his life, inorder to build his faith and this in turn eradicated his fear and hence prepared him for an action of God’s will. Judges 7:12-15 beautifully displays this interesting story as follows; “Without number, as the sand by the shore in the multitude. And when Gideon had come there was a man telling a dream to his companion. He said, “I have had a dream: to my surprise a loaf of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Median; it came to a tent and struck it so that it fell and over turned, and the tent collapsed. Then his companion said, “This is nothing but the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Isreal! Into his hand God has delivered Midian and the whole camp…...” God also uses dreams inorder to offer gifts to his people. (1st kings 3:5); it was through a dream that God gave Solomon the famous offer of wisdom and riches as presented in; 1st kings 3:5 “At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” Solomon’s dream teaches us that if a dream comes from God, it will be so big in your life. It requires an action of faith; Faith is like a muscle, it can be strengthened, It can be weak or it can be strong depending on how much you use it. The first thing God does to build your faith is to give you a dream when He wants to work in your life He will always give you a dream, above yourself and about what he wants you to do about how he is going to use your life to impact the world. Dreams are used by God to raise his messengers/servants to power and influence. As he had done for Joseph, God placed Daniel in a position of power and influence by allowing him to inteprete a foreign ruler's dream. This is consistent with God's preparation to use miracles to identify his messengers. Daniel himself had many dreams and visions which were mostly related to future kingdoms of the world and the nations of Israel. Daniel 2:1, Nebuchadnezzar got a troubling dream which opened the gift of dream interpretation in Daniel. “Now in the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was so troubled that his sleep left him.” There, God uses dreams to reveal his plan through his people and also He puts his people in places of influence using dreams. God uses dreams to warn people that they will receive punishment for their sins (Daniel 4) it is not enough to supress your sinful thoughts as that is not how one is to be free from sin. If you merely suppress your thoughts Dreams will probably come out from your thoughts as in the book of; Daniel 4:5 there is a good reference to take note of. “I saw a dream which made me afraid and the thoughts on my bed and the vision of my head troubled me.” God is concernend about our life style. Genesis 20:3 “But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night and said to him indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.” Through this dream Abimelech repented. Further more, dreams inform people or a group to do something; Mathew 1:20 is a vital example to this effect. “But while he thought about these things behold an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream saying, Joseph son of David do not be afraid to take Mary your wife for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit”. As we read scriptures, we see God using dreams to guide His people not just giving special relevation but protecting and guiding them in life. Dreams are important because they convey spiritural truth. Take for instance in the book of; Genesis 28:12 “Then he dreamed, and behold a ladder was set up on earth and its top reached in heaven and there the angels of God were descending and acending on it”. However, we must note that dreams cannot be put into a place of authority over the scriptures. If God were to speak to a person in a dream, His message would be in total agreement with his word i.e spiritual truth. When God speaks to us, He makes sure His message is clearly understood. Lastly, dreams are important because Dreams convey what will happen either in the near or distant future. And a good example is; Genesis 37:5. “Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers, and they hated him even more.” One may think why God may need to use a dream to speak to you, when, in fact, He could have used another means to speak to you. However, when you are asleep, your conscious mind cannot fight God’s message. Immediately after we are awake our conscious minds get into the way of hearing from God. When you are asleep you are vulnerable and delicate to loose control of your life and God has the whole of you. CHAPTER TWO SEXUAL DREAM SYMBOLS Meaning of sexual dreams Many people have dreams with sexual perversion or release in such instances; one should know the Spirit of Lust is attacking them to take them into captivity. The enemy (Satan) also spreads sexual dreams by planting seeds of temption through your desires in the day. Many people have sexual dreams but very few people talk about them, the nature of these dreams may reveal hidden demonic attacks, personal hope or fears targeting the one whom the dream is all about. Generally, sexual dreams are attributed to the influence of Satan, impure thinking, witchcraft, spells, curses of lust, sexual addition, immorality, poor self-esteem and a history of sexual abuse. Satan has many strategies, schemes and devices to deceive people through sexual dreams. These dreams contain false doctrine, lust, pride, vanity, arrogance, lying, bitterness and Dreams fight against faith in God. Therefore your sex dreams try to communicate the following: - You are back in a former relationship in your dreams. An issue you are noticing in yourself that you were unaware of previously. Implies your current relationship is causing emotional flashbacks to a previous relationship. That there is a situation that you are enjoying passionately. A love memory that is ignited powerfully. What you are experiencing more of in your life patterns or behavior. Feelings about someone you desire. Lack of physical intimacy with someone but yet having feelings or desire for one not physically intimate with. Outside forces intruding on your private time, relationship or Godly enjoyment. Your career may be interfering with your love life. You are joining a covenant or cult. We cannot control the sexual dreams that we dream about or what happens with our bodies while we are asleep. However, if we fill our minds with lustful things during the day, it is likely to show up in our dreams. A sexual dream is not sinful in and of itself but it can be the result of: - Sinful thoughts, desires or input. Satanic strategy, scheme or device. Guilt, remorse or a hidden sexual secrets. Therefore, a sexual dream is not contained by praying against the sexual activity in the dream per say but by being led of Holy Ghost to demolish the source of the dream rather than the activity in the dream because: - Dream activity is controlled by the dream source. SOME SOURCES OF SEXUAL DREAMS 1) Emission of semen naturally An emission of semen is a common biological function of the male body and this can occur while a man is sleeping especially if the man does not have an outlet of intercourse or masturbation, the body naturally releases the excess semen through nocturnal emissions. This is never sinful because it is natural, involuntary and spontaneous, we can say, this is part of God's indigenous design allowing the male body to relieve itself naturally without breaking God's law as found in Roman 4:15. “Because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression.” 2) Rejection Sexual Spirit. Often an abandoned spouse in marriage struggles with feelings of depression because of being rejected sexually. The emotions of someone rejected sexually are turned inward and over time Dreams are invaded with dreams of rejection e.g. having sexual intercourse with an enemy or having dreams with someone you keep chasing. This is suggestive of the spirit of rejection leading to depression and anxiety. This spirit of rejection is confronted through counseling, prayer, repenting of self-pity, overcoming feelings of hopelessness or shame or embarrassment, pointing one to Christ and helping one not to seek love in a wrong place. God has promised never to abandon those who trust him in the book of; Isaiah 43:2. "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire you shall not burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.” 3) Sexual dreams with a celebrity Celebrities are also known as idols and they promote idolatry. The bible in Leviticus 19:4 says; “Do not turn to idols, nor make for yourselves molded gods; I am the LORD your God.” Therefore, a dream about having sexual intercourse with a celebrity is suggestive of the dreamer enjoying an activity that they associate with that celebrity. Celebrities are setting the stage of standard that so many try so hard to imitate. Many follow patterns that celebrities portray as normal. This in turn provides the devil with an opportunity to create a bond between the celebrity and their victims and among many ways using dreams hence initiating many into evil and wicked practices promoted through music, movies, games, to mention but a few. 1 John 3:8. "He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil.” 4) Lustful sexual activity in dreams Our desires are not the problem. It is what we do with them. Sexual lust is willfully allowing pleasurable gratification of wrongfully directed sexual desire that takes place deep inside. Jesus warned us in the book of; Matthew 5:28. “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” There is an evil spirit that can have sex with a person in their sleep. These are sexual spirits of perversion. One may be wondering how it is possible for demon spirits to have intercourse with humans in the book of; Genesis 6:1-2 “Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born of them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.” This is an example of how spirits can take on some type of physical forms and function sexually with humans. These spirits have effects on people causing overwhelming sexual urges in the body and mind. However, not all powerful sexual urge in the body is due to the demonic manifestation, some urges maybe due to; Purely hormonal reasons. Arousal at the thought of enjoying intercourse with your lover. But when sexual urge comes suddenly without warnings at times that seems inappropriate or without any external stimuli and you simply cannot control them without having an intense battle; that is a sign that Dreams are demonic. Once the sexual demons get you sexually aroused or subdue you through violence you let your conscious guards and defenses down. The purpose of demonic sexual spirits causing nightmares is to impregnate you with fear therefore perverting your faith. There is nothing sinful about our natural God-given sexual urges but to fulfill these urges through lust is sexual perversion and a sin. SOME OF THE DREAMS SOME PEOPLE GET AND THEIR MEANINGS GIVEN BY THE GRACE OF GOD APPEAR BELOW. One had dreams of having sex in a public place which is suggestive of their private life being made public as taught in the book of; Luke 8:17 “For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.” A person had dreams involving someone who they had intercourse with but he kept vanishing in the dream, this is suggestive of lack of commitment in the relationship; like Onan who was unwilling to be committed to his late brother's wife so he kept spilling semen on the ground in the book of; Genesis 38:9. “But Onan knew that the heir would not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in to his brother's wife, that he emitted on the ground, lest he should give an heir to his brother.” Another had sex in a dream with someone who's face they could not see in a dream which is suggestive of one feeling good with someone they are undecided about or committed to with sincerity like Jacob who felt good sexually with Leah who's face he did not see except in the morning yet he was undecided about Leah but he was for Rachael. Genesis 29:24-25. “And Laban gave his maid Zilpah to his daughter Leah as a maid. So it came to pass in the morning, that behold, it saw Leah. And he said to Laban. "What is this you have done to me? Was it not for Rachael that I served you? Why then have you decieved me?” Some had sex while people were watching in the dream which is suggestive of the spirit of judgement and difficulty for one to break through without a battle. The bible speaks of Absolom having sex with his father's concubines in public inorder to make a point to Israel. Refer to; 2 Samuel 16:22 “So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and Absolom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.” The spirit of jugdment for the father had controlled him hence fighting against his father. DEMONIC SEXUAL BEHAVIOR IN DREAMS AND THEIR DOORS. Since sexual sin is so prevalent, this is the reason sex demons are most common. Demons emphasize all varieties of sexual behavior. DOORS FOR SEXUAL DREAMS Fornication: is a general term for sexual perversion leading to sexual lustful dreams. 1 Corinthians 6:18 “Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins againsit his own body.” Masturbation: is willful sexual arousal of enticing pleasure through use of a sexual organ to drive sexual desire hence opening the door to demonic dreams. Pornography: is contaminating the mind with sexual fantasy by watching sexual activity which can show up in dreams. Refer to; Psalms 101:3 “I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away: It shall not cling to me.” Unforgiveness: is failure to let go of all bitterness which gives access to being invaded by demons in dreams due to absence of grace hence the bibilical warning in; Ephesians 4:26-27. “Be angry and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.” Bitterness is a door way for demons. Carnality: whatever does not edify the Holy Spirit even if it is not sinful opens a door for demonic dreams. Romans 8:6 “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spritually minded is life and peace.” Fear: This is the absence of faith and paralyzes belief in God hence leading to doubt, which opens the door to demonic dreams. 2nd Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Witchraft: is a demonic seed for rebellion and disobedience, manipulation and deception, control and confusion which opens up doors to demonic dreams. Leviticus 19:31 “Give no regard to mediums and farmiliar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord you God.” Molestation: is sexually abusing a vulnerable person through sexual langauge, manupilation and sexual use hence subjecting a victim to a mind set of victimization which opens doors to demonic dreams. Mathew 18:6 “Whoever causes one of these little ones who beleive in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” Soul ties: a connection to someone or something that has ties to demons or willful sin which is a door way to demonic dreams. An example of good soul ties; 1st Samuel 18:1 “Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.” Battling spirits of sexual perversion: engaging in spiritual warfare against sexual spirits creates revenge in dreams. DEMONIC SEXUAL BEHAVIOR IN DREAMS The bible warns that men exchanged natural sexual relations for the unnatural ones because of shameful lusts. Romans 1:26 “For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.” This opens up door ways to demonic dreams manifestated in wicked sexual beahvior which is so prevalent today because of the increase in sexual sins. Anal sex dreams Anal sex is the male's penis into a female's vagina. Anal sex is impure sex for it is penis to anus which is sodomy, this is what God did not intend and qualifies to be sexual imorality. Ephesians 5:5. "For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolator, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.” Demonic Anal Sex dream is a sign of a greater risk of STDs, Anal cancer and generally creation of problems or satanic negative experiences. Bestiality sex dreams Bestiality refers to sex between humans and animals. The bible teaches against bestiality in the book of; Exodus 22:19 “Whoever lies with an animal shall surely be put to death.” The bible further teaches in (Proverbs 12:10) to regard animals; so bestiality sex dreams are demonic manipulations to cause embarrassment and negative consequences. Homosexual activity sex dreams Homosexuality is the condition of sexual desire directed towards a person of the same sex. The bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin e.g. 1 Corinthians 6:9 or Leviticus 18:22 “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived neither fornicators nor idolators, nor adulterous, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites.” Demons defile people through homosexuality dreams in order to sow the seeds for a careless lifestyle, no concern for evil and enjoyment of what is wrong without remorse. Incest sexual dreams Incest is sex between relatives or related people or even closely linked persons. There are numerous exampels of incest in the bible like (Gen 19, Gen 4, Gen 20:12, Exodus 6:20, 2 Sam 13). However, it is important to note between incest prior to God commanding againsit it (Leviticus 18:6-18) and incest that occured after God's commands had been revealed. Until God commanded against it, it was not incest – (Leviticus 18:6). Therefore incest sexual dreams are deliberate demonic manipualtions designed to rob people of right choices and enable them to commit taboos in violation of God's word. Masturbation sexual dreams Masturbation is the sexual stimulation of one’s own genitals for sexual arousal or other sexual pleasure. The bible does not directly address the issue of masturbation or deliberate self stimulation of the sexual organ to the point of orgasm. It does warn againsit all form's of self-indulgence, adultery of the mind and fornication. Masturbation is an act of self gratification rather giving consequently; dreams about masturbation are demonic seeds that promote fantasizing, emotional deprivation, damaged sensibilty to detract normal sexual relations for married life and a life of selflessness. Oral sexual dream Oral sex is the act of two persons using their mouth to perform sexual intercourse. If oral sex is done within the confines of marraige and in the spirit of mutual consent, it may not be an offense. 1 Corinthians 7:5 “Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time that you may give yourself to fasting and prayer and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of self control.” There is not a biblical case for declaring it to be a sin. Oral sex before marriage is absolutely immoral. Oral sexual dreams are a medium through which demons pass on feelings of total submission to their victims and maximum obedience to any commandments given by evil fores. Oral sex is a symbol of submission to another's feelings. Pornography sexual dreams Pornography is the depiction of erotic behavior intended to cause sexual excitement. Pornography definitely causes us to lust after the flesh. Pornography is listed as one of the lust conditions described in the book of; 1 John 2:16 "For all that is in the world - the lust of the flesh, the lust of eyes, and the pride of life - is not of the Father but is of the world.” The bible may not specifically identify pornography as pornography but it gives us gudiance lines into the thinking of God about the subject. Pornography is channeled through erotic videos, pictures, writings, messages, converstions or images of sexual excitement which opens up doors for pornography dreams that sow seeds of lust, enslavement in desire, encourages a low level of respect for women and victimizes them, arouses a person's sexual appetite and supports organized crime like human trafficking and molestation which pornography arouses to a larger extent. Dreams about prostutites A prostitute is one who gives oneself to another for sexual intercourse. Demons know and work towards the activity described in the book of; 1 Corinthians 6:16 “Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For the two, He says, "Shall become one flesh”. Demons form a bond with humans through dreams of having intercourse with prostitutes because those prostitutes controlled by demons form oneness with the person who gets dreams. Through these dreams seeds of people selling out themselves to Satan are sowed and human value is mocked resulting into various consequences like what happened to Israel for engaging in harlotry with the women of Moab as found in the book of; Numbers 25:1 “Now Israel remained in Acacia Grove, and the people began to commit harlotry with the women of Moab.” Then the consequences of the above in are found in the book of; Numbers 25:4 “Then the LORD said to Moses take the leaders of the people and hang the offencers before the LORD, out in the sun, that the fierece anger of the LORD may turn away from Israel.” FAMILIAR SEXUAL SPIRITS Familiar sexual spirits are real and dangerous. A familair spirit is known for its characteristics of being in a familiarity with its victims e.g. the spirit Paul encountered in the book of; Acts 16:16-18. “Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune telling. This girl followed Paul and us and cried out, saying, "These men are the servants of the most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation. And this she did many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the Name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And he came out that very hour.” The intention of the familiar evil spirits in the dream is to form a close relationship with its victim. Therefore, sexual intercourse will take place between people who are farmilair with themselves in the dream. The familair spirit can use images, places or people who the victim is familiar with in order to create a bond so that Dreams can lead the victim into bondage. The person who gets a dream with a familiar spirit is under attack and those whose images are used in the dream are also under attack which is repulsed only through intense prayer. A familiar spirit sows seeds of false relationships, divorce, lust, adultery, accusation, rivalry and division through the channel of dreams among other channels. PRAYER AGAINST SEXUAL DREAMS Father in the Name of Jesus Christ, I repent of all my sexual sins, I denounce all secret sins I have been hiding and ask you Lord to wash me clean with your blood in accordance with your word in 1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light as He is the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” That promises to cleanse us from all sins. I aknowledge that every sin I have commited is againsit your word and therefore I opened the door for Satan into my life. I ask you to forgive all of my unrighteousness and sin against my body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit. This day I chose to forgive all those I have been holding over sexual offences commited against me. I plead the blood of Jesus over my life in accordance with Mathew 26:28 “For this is my blood of the new convenant, which I shed for many for the remission of sins.” And I by the same blood of Jesus receive entitlement to go on the offensive against any sexual dreams that have come my way. In the Name of Jesus Christ who has delivered us from the power of darkness accoding to Colossians 2:15 “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” I render powerless demonic spirits that appear in my dreams to make me notice a false sexual value in myself, I destroy a situation of a sexual sin I enjoy in my dreams in Jesus' Name. May the blood of Jesus sanctify all my feelings about all people I desire sexually. You sexual spirit that disarms my intimacy with my God given spouse by building a parallel intimacy of another relationship through sex in my dreams, I bind, break, and blot you to intrude on my sexual freedom and interfer with my love life; be destroyed by the fire of the Holy Spirit. In the Name of Jesus Christ who was manifested to destroy the works of the devil according to 1st John 3:8 “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested", that He might destroy the works of the devil.” I overcome every sexual demon attacking me in dreams to plant seeds of rejection, Association with evil celebtrities, public share, lack of commitment in relationships, being undecided, pride, unseriousenss, settling for wrong love and judgement. By the Authority given to me in Luke10:19 as follows “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” I trample over the power of demonic sexual spirits that hurt people through: Dreams of anal sex designed to promote choices that never lead to anything productive. Dreams of having STDs that reflect choices that fill one with powerful regrets. Dreams of bestiality in order to spread embarrassement. Dreams of Bi-sexual that promote a negative thinking pattern. Dreams of homosexuality to spread lack of concern for something wrong. Dreams of importance to promote powerlessness in life situations. Dreams of incest to attack the mind with lack of discernment. Dreams of masturbation to spread a personality which is more focused on enjoying than acheiving. Dreams of molestation to spread abuse. Dreams of oral sex to spread total submission to Satan. Dreams of pornography to spread delusions and unrealistic fantacies. Dreams of sleeping with prostitutes in order to cheapen the choices of God's people. In Jesus Name, loose, let go! I pledge my loyalty to Jesus Son of God and believe it as written in; 2 Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro througout the whole earth to show himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to him.....” CHAPTER THREE SPIRITUAL DREAMS Dreams are one of the most overlooked forms of communication used by God. The word of God consistently reveals God as speaking to people through this universally experienced and mysterious way of warning, revealing and counsel hence spiritual dreams come from God. WARNING DREAMS FROM GOD (GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS) These dreams have the following features Dreams of warning leaders of future global events. The future global events refer to those things/activities which will happen after the present. Gen 41:1-8 “Then it came to pass, at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh had a dream; and behold, he stood by the river suddenly there came up out of the river seven cows, fine looking and fat: and they fed in the meadow. Then behold seven other cows came up after them out of the river, urgly and gaunt and stood by the other cows on the bank of the river and the ugly and gaunt ate up the seven fine looking and fat cows. So Pharaoh awoke.....” This dream revealed to pharaoh about a future event that would shake the world and require his attention. Dreams of warning about decision making. Decision making refers to the action or process of choosing between alternatives especially important ones. Mathew 27:19 “While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, "Have nothing to do with that just man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him.” Dreams of warning about personal desires and their consequences. Personal desires refer to feelings of wanting to have something or wishing that something will happen. Therefore, God warns of impending consequences of such desires Genesis 20:3 “But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, "Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man's wife.” Dream of warning about a specific direction to take. A direction refers to a course along which someone or something moves. End time signs can mean the signs which are mentioned in the book of Mathew which will happen in the last days as follows. Mathew 24:6-7 “And you will here of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, And there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places.” These signs have a very significant relevancy requiring attention which God so lovingly deals with in dreams. Dreams of warning about an ambush. An ambush is a surprise attack for people lying in waiting in a concealed position. God fore warns us of an impending attack like he did for paul. Act 23:16-21 "So when Paul's sister's son heard of their ambush, he went and entered the barracks and told Paul. Then Paul called one of the centurions to him and said, ‘Take this young man to the commander, for he has something to tell him.’ So he took him and brought him to the commander and said, ‘Paul the prisoner called me to him and asked me to bring this young man to you he has something to say to you...." Dreams or warning against backsliding Backsliding means to relapse into bad habits, sinful behavior or undesirable activities. God loves us enough to keep us away from falling out with Him. He among other things uses dreams. 2nd Peter 3:17 is a warning about a backsliding spirit "You therefore, beloved, since you know this before hand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked". Dreams of warning of a wicked heart A wicked heart is one which thinks and does immoral things which are contrary to what God wants. The best example is found in; Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he, ‘Eat and drink!’ he says to you, but his heart is not with you." This warning may be designed to free us or someone else from consequences of a wicked heart. Dreams of warning of false preachers/prophets. A false prophet/teacher is one who falsely claims the gift of prophesy or divine inspiration who uses that gift for evil ends. The end time is too invaded by the above hence God intervenes on behalf of his people by making them aware through dreams. One of the best example is found in; Mathew 7:15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves." Dreams of warning about hypocrisy Hypocrisy literally means pretence in the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform to. Mathew 16:6 describes in detail a warning about this. “Then Jesus said to them "Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.” The hypocrisy spirit is deadly and makes its victims suffer great loss. God in the dream warns us about it inorder to save us. Dreaming of warning about suffering in body The body refers to the physical structure of a person or an animal. Mathew 10:28 describes about the body as follows; “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul, But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both Saul and body in hell.” Therefore God can use a dream to encourage us about the need to hold unto our faith despite our suffering. Dreaming of warning about tampering with what belongs to God. Genesis 31:24 is surely relevant with the above. “But God had come to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night and said to him, 'Be careful that you do Jacob neither good nor bad.” Laban was warned not to tamper with Jacob. DREAMS THAT REVEAL GOD'S PLAN Dreams about injustice and those who oppress others. Injustice simply means lack of fairness or justice. Genesis 31:11-12 is a perfect example of God using a dream to reveal his plan to deal with injustice. “Then the Angel of God spoke to me in a dream, saying, 'Jacob' And I said here I am. And he said, lift your eyes now and see, all the rams which leap on the flocks are streaked, speckled and gray spotted, for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you.” Dreams about what is the purpose of the Holy Spirit in what is happening to one’s life. And she will bring forth a son, and You shall call His name JESUS....” Dreams of overcoming a war or persecution waged against God's people. A war is a state of armed conflict between different group’s individuals. GOD'S RESPONSE OF FALSE DREAMS The wrath of God comes upon deceiving spirits or people using empty dreams. As a source of convincing their victims. Ephesians 5:6 is a great warning. "Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.” Dreams of warning against induced dreams. Induced dreams are those which are influenced by the dreamer through their mind. Such induced dreams are very dangerous in creating falsehood which has terrible consequences. Jeremiah 29:8-9 is a great caution to this effect. "For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel. For they, prophesy falsely to you in my Name: I have not sent them says the LORD". Mocking dreams from God have consequences. Mocking refers to making fun of someone or something in a cruel way. Galatians 6:7 is a relevant warning. "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked: for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” Warning against taking care that no one holds you captive through dreams that promote false philosophy or dogma. The word captive refers to a prison. Colossians 2:8 is a clear testimony about the warning to free from captivity. “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” Dreams of warning about apostasy which among other things uses false dreams. Apostasy refers to renouncing or disassociating oneself from a particular religion or certain religious beliefs. Such is promoted through occultic dreams which are a feature of the end time. EFFECTS OF DREAMING GOD'S DREAMS. It has God's plan in it to follow. Requires that one be willing to die for the dream God has put in your heart. The dream is greater than you that after one is gone, it will leave this world a better place. God's dream unlike Satan’s dream does not make you return to your past but go past your past. God's dreams require consultation or counsel Proverbs 15:22 is a testimony of the merit of counsel. “Without counsel, plans go aw’ry, but in the multitude of counselors they are established.” Proverbs 16:1 emphasizes God’s ability to reveal answers. “The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.” God's dream requires to press towards its goal Philippians 3:14 is evidence of the above. “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” God's dream requires that God directs its steps. When there is no direction there is a lot of misunderstanding. Proverbs 16:9 "A man's heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps" God’s dream unveils the truth. God's dream brings glory to him. One cannot let God's dream out of their heart. PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL DREAMS Lord, in accordance with 2nd Chronicles 7:14 "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will forgive their sin and heal their land". I pray for strength to turn away from all my wicked ways and I sincerely repent of all sin committed, disobedience of all the dreams you have given me that I willfully rejected. According to Genesis 46:2 "Then God spoke to Israel in the vision of the night, and said, "Jacob Jacob!" You spoke to Israel through dreams and today, I acknwoledge that you have spoken to me through dreams. Lord Jesus, pour out your spirit on me to understand dreams because it is written in Genesis 40:8 that inerpretations belong to you. “And they said to him, we each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.” Reveal to me mysteries as your servant and make known to me your will through dreams you have given me as written Numbers 12:6 "Then he said, hear now My words: if there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream". So that I may not slumber upon my bed at night and Lord make plain the advice you have given me through my dreams, so that I may run with it in fulfillment of your will in Jesus Name. May I receive renewal in my dreams in order to overcome lack of knowledge which leads to destruction in Jesus’ Name; Amen! CHAPTER FOUR PROPHETIC SYMBOLS God uses different sets of symbols to describe things in different ways. Prophetic dreams are predictive in nature. The Bible devotes a large portion of its pages to the future, it is literally filled with prophesy. And they is no doubt that yesterday’s prophesy is forming today’s headlines. Which is Evidence that prophesy is true. Studying the difference between false and true prophesy is very vital because it lays down a foundation that helps an individual to interpret a dream . Shall I fall down Before a block of wood?” Symbols of Holy Angels in Dreams Holy Angels may appear in human form but are heavenly beings who serve God. Holy Angels symbolize a message from God. A prophetic utterance such as what you gave Prophet Joel in Acts 2:16-21 “But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy. I block every door of evil entering my dreams in Jesus’ Name. You demonic record of messages given to me in my dreams, I cancel you right now in Jesus’ Name. Every prison where I am captured, I decree my release right now in accordance with Matthew 18:18 from captivity in my dreams in Jesus’ Name. You evil bows, bread, sword, wine; I bind, tear and break you from attacking me in my dreams in Jesus’ Name. Every evil symbol falsifying prophesies in my dream I dismantle you by Holy Spirit fire and thunder in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen! CHAPTER FIVE ANIMAL SYMBOLS Animal symbols in dreams could mean different things to different people but there are exceptions which are common and with the help of the Lord the following animal symbols are common features in dreams. Animals in dreams symbolize behaviors, attitudes and thinking patterns (Luke 8:10) says God created Animals (Genesis 1:21) with a purpose (Job 35:11) and he created them male and female (Genesis 6:19) Therefore, with the help of God, below are the animal symbols and their meaning in case they appear in dreams. Ant An ant is a small insect that lives under the ground in large organized groups called colonies An Ant in the dream symbolizes diligence, industry, wisdom in preparation. Refer to; Proverbs 6:6 “Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise.” Antelope An antelope is a brown animal with horns and long thin legs that can run very fast. It also symbolizes sacrifice and offering. Refer to; Genesis 22:13 “Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.” Rabbits Rabbits are small animals with soft fur, long ears and a short tail. Rabbits in the dream symbolizes worrying and timidness. Let us walk properly as in the day not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy, But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the Flesh, to fulfill its lusts.” Our weapons of warfare are not of the flesh but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. I bind the symbols in Jesus’ name of:- Alligators: in dreams which increase fear and danger in my life I render powerless the images of Apes in my dreams that promote childish, irresponsible and primitive character in my life in Jesus name. I dismantle every baboon image in my dreams that represent the spirit of inconsiderate behaviors in Jesus’ name. I demolish the Bats spirit invading my life through dreams in order to promote confusion. I dismiss the images of Bears in my dreams that bring forth the spirit of selfishness in Jesus name. The bible in Hebrews 4:12-13 confirms that the word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword- By the word of God, I reject Birds in my dreams trying to limit my boundaries and cause limitation to my life’s progress. The bible says that the battle is the Lord’s in 1st Sam 17:47, therefore, I surrender the war waged against me by faith, I decree and declare victory over delusions and disconnection from reality, as advanced by black, white, grey or spotted cats appearing in my dreams in Jesus name. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7 that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power. Therefore by the power of God, I crush bear spirits in my dreams that symbolize cruelty. By the power given to me by the lord Jesus Christ in; Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the powers of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” I trend on serpents and scorpions; I trend over beasts, Bees, Bulls and caterpillars appearing in my dreams to cause evil and failure to me in Jesus’ name. I break the power of Dog dreams over me in my life and command you spirit of hypocrisy and sexual urge to lose my life for I belong to Jesus in accordance with acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and “Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” The Bible says in (Ephesians 3:20) that now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to his power that is at work within us. Lord Jesus, rescue me from all demonic powers sowing satanic seeds of evil into my life through use of animal symbolism, images of reptiles, Amphibians, mammals and birds in order to advance their behaviors, attitudes and thinking patterns on me or mine. Lord rescue me in accordance with Colossians 1:13 which says “He has delivered us from the power Of darkness and conveyed us into the Kingdom of the son of His love,” Lord Jesus, establish my understanding through every message you give me through dreams in order to fulfill 2nd Peter 1:3 which says that; “As his divine power has given us everything we need for a Godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and Goodness.” God I pray that through dreams:- Protect your people. Confirm your promises to your people. Offer encouragement to your people. Offer gifts to your people Raise your servants to power and influence. Warn your people over their sins. Inform them what dreams do not know. CHAPTER SIX NIGHTMARES A nightmare is a dream that is very frightening or unpleasant. Demons can affect dreams; normally nightmares come as a result of several activities such as watching horrifying movies before bed, a guilt conscience and generally demonic attacks. In order to end nightmares, the first thing is not to be afraid because demons become stronger immediately they learn that we are afraid. Here is an encouragement: Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Analysis of nightmares The word nightmare comes from the Old English word “mare” which meant evil spirit or demon haunting people in their sleep. Nightmares produce a strong negative emotional response such as fear of horror but God influences you positively. Isaiah 41:10 says; “Fear not, for Iam with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God I will strengthen you, Yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” CHARACTERISTICS AND EFFECTS OF NIGHTMARES Nightmares trouble the spirit Daniel 2:1 says; “Now in the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams, and his spirit was so troubled that his sleep left him.” The dreams troubled Nabuchsdnezzar Nightmares sometimes announce an impending death. Refer to; Genesis 40:16-19 “When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, I also was in my dream; and there were three white baskets on my head. In the uppermost basket were all kinds of baked goods for pharaoh, and to birds ate them out of the basket on my head. “So Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation of it; The three baskets are three days. Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head from you and hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from you.” Nightmares produce panic attacks. Look at; Genesis 20:3-8 “But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him. Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.” Nightmares also come from too much activity and also a lot of effort rendered to something especially with no success. Ecclesiastes 5:3 “For a dream comes through much activity, And a fool’s voice is known by his many words.” Further still, nightmares come from unquenched thirst as described in; Isaiah 29:8 as follows. “It shall even be as when a hungry man dreams, And look he eats; But he awakes, and his soul is still empty Or as when a thirsty man dreams, And look he drinks; But he awakes, and indeed he is faint, And his soul still craves; So the multitude of all the entire nation shall be, Who fight against Mount Zion.” Nightmares also come from emptiness in further analysis refer to; Ecclesiastes 5:7 “For in the multitude of dreams and many words there is also vanity but fear God.” It must also be noted that nightmares comes from evil spirits 1st John 4:1 helps us to understand the spirirts. “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” More so, nightmares come from satanic attacks to challenge one’s faith. Job 7:13-14 is one in which we discover Job suffering from nightmares because of Satan trying to fight his faith. “When I say, My bed will comfort me, My couch will ease my complaint. Then You scare me with dreams And terrify me with visions.” Nightmares come from tormenting an innocent person which then backfires in the dream e.g. Mathew 27:19-20 “While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him….” Nightmares can also come from the Lord for a purpose of fulfilling his will in a given circumstance. Refer to; Isaiah 21:4 “My heart wavered, fearfulness frightened me; The night for which I longed He turned into fear for me.” Another reason is that nightmares come from battling in spiritual warfare and so one can receive revenge spirits or negative memories of remembering warfare. Ephesians 6:12 describes our warfare “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” In a nutshell, nightmares come from frustrations for example refer to; Job 7:13-15 INTENTS OF NIGHTMARES To kill faith in the Lord. To spread fear to God’s people. To impose guilt on people. To torment the children of God. To deceive the children of God. To intimidate the people of God. To change individual’s perception. To create hindrances for someone. To accuse the innocent people of God. SOME OF THE DOORS THAT OPEN UP NIGHTMARES A defiled conscience is one of the doors that open up nightmares. Acts 24:16 teaches about the need to have a clear conscience. “This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.” Giving any opportunity to Satan also opens up a door to nightmares. 1st Timothy 5:14-15 warns against the above. “Therefore I desire that the younger widows marry, bear children manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully for some have already turned aside after Satan.” The lack of faith in actions equally opens up a door to nightmares. Romans 14:23 reveals how it is important to keep faith. “But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith for whatever is not from faith is sin.” When we do not guard our eyes we invite nightmares. Refer to; Mathew 6:22-23 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore Your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light, But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is ‘darkness, how great is that darkness!” Desires of our sinful nature open up a door to nightmares. These are also refered to as works of the flesh. As found in; Galatians 5:19-21 “Now the works of the flesh are evident which are adultery, fornication, uncleanness lewdness, idolatey, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions,heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness revelries, and the like, of which I tell you beforesshand; just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” When we search for or get in contact with an evil source, we open up doors for nightmares. Proverbs 11:27 describes the consequences of seeking evil. “He who earnestly seeks good finds favor, But trouble will come to him who seeks evil.” When we do not forgive others. We play in satan’s hands who can cause nightmares as to help him destroy one refer to the story in; Mathew 18:34-35 “And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him So My heavenly Father also will do to you Of each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses……….” JUSTIFICATION FOR FIGHTING AGAINST NIGHTMARES. Resist the devil because the devil keeps looking for whom to torment, torture and humiliate. James 4:7-8 encourages us as follows; “Therefore submit to God, Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you Cleanse your hands, you sinners and purity your hearts, you double minded.” Use the power of God because the power of God provides humanity with freedom. Luke 10:19 greatly motivates us as follows. “Behold I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Use the opportunity to live in the secret place of God. [If you are not born again, consider getting born again; if you are born again consider getting under mentorship]. Psalms 91:1 teaches that; “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Use God’s way of Escape. (God should not be an option but your only choice). God has a way out for those who trust and depend on Him. 1st Corinthians 10:13 advises that; “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” Overcome fear. [Fear is a master spirit from hell]. Fear is a popular door for demonic entry. Isaiah 41:10 reveals that; “Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” God has promised to rescue you. Therefore, look out for God’s promises. 2nd Timothy 4:18 gives the above assurance. “And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen!” God is a guard against evil. We have to trust him inorder to overcome trouble caused by the evil one. Look at; 2nd Thessalonians 3:3 “But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.” PRAYER It is written in Proverbs 3:34 that if I lie down, I will not be afraid and when I lie down, my sleep will be sweet. Lord, I will not fear because Psalms 4:8 says that my sleep will be in safety. I confess of all my sin that opened up doors to nightmares in my life. Lord I seek you to deliver me from nightmares in accordance with, Psalms 34:4 “I sought the LORD, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.” Lord turn away my eyes from nightmares according to Psalm 119:37 “Turn away my eyes from looking at Worthless things, And revive me in Your way.” My bible says in Psalms 23 that, even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. This day I cancel and flash out the effects of nightmares in which there are forces abusing me through using vulgar language and accusing me. In Jesus’ Name, I bind them. I bind by fire, every power behind cannibalism appearing in nightmares in Jesus name. You personality that is manipulating evil in nightmares through actions of danger, death and deceptions in order to control my life, in the name of Jesus Christ, I reject evil programmed into my life through nightmares of falling and fighting. Oh! You nightmares meant to cause genocide into my life, family, community or country and bring disorganization, in the name of Jesus Christ backfire by fire! Arrows of hatred, murder, wars, persecution through nightmares into my life, in the name of Jesus Christ be uprooted and scattered by fire. I neutralize and reverse every demonic action in nightmares of causing me to be publically or privately ignored, kicked, kidnapped, fought, stubbed, slapped, and slaughtered in Jesus’ name. By Holy Ghost fire, I take total control over demons in my nightmares that are designing my obituary, planning to possess me, be the cause of panic failure in my life, hatch suicide plans for my life and threatening me through warnings hence forth, I defeat you!!! In Jesus’ name. Amen! CHAPTER SEVEN NATURE SYMBOLS PLANTS Genesis makes it clear that there is a creation order established by God. Plants bear fruit accroding to their kind. Genesis 1:11-12 "Then God said, "Let the earth "bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth, and it was so,...." It is clear therefore that various plants have inherent characteristics that make them distinct from one another. In scripture, plants often serve as illustrations for spiritual teaching. Hosea comapares plant growth to spiritual growth Hosea 14:5-7 “I will be like the dew of Israel; He shall grow like the lily, And lengthen his roots like Lebanon. His branches shall spread; His beauty shall be like an olive tree, And his fragrance like Lebanon. Those who dwell under his shadow shall return; They shall be revived like grain and grow like a vine. Their scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon.’’ THE SYMBOLIC MEANING OF PLANTS Withered plants that lack adequate water. Withered plants in a dream symbolize the result of wayward behaviour as in James 1:11 "For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful apperance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits". In Isaiah 40:6-7, our mortality is compared to grass (it emphasizes that all flesh is grass that withers and fades, withering and fading grass in a dream symbolize God uprooting something or someone. "The voice said, Cry out! And he said, "What shall I cry"? All flesh is grass; And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field………” In Mathew 15:13, we are warned that every plant which the father has not planted will be rooted up. Uprooted plants in the dream symbolize God uprooting something or someone. “But He answered and said, every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.” In Mathew 13:25 weeds are associted with the enemy of God when they appear in the dream. They look like wheat but they are really weeds. “But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.” There are varieties of plants with thorns, they are easily grown and seen to love the worthless plot of ground like ditches, some of these, their fruits can be eaten naturally. Once established they are hard to eliminate from a garden which if dreamt about therefore, they symbolize a warning from God. Trees decode symbolism in dreams. God's righteous saints are refered to as trees. Refer to; Psalms 1:1-3 “Blessed is the man Who walks not in the councel of the ungoldly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, not sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the river of water, that brings forth it’s fruit in season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.” Psalms 92:12-14 says; “The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree; He shall grow like a Cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the lord shall flourish in courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing,” Those who trust in the lord may be symbolically seen in a dream as written in Jeremiah 17:7-8 i.e. a tree planted by the waters "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river....." A dream of a fig tree symbolizes life, proseprity, peace and righterousness througout the bible. Refer to; Micah 4:4 “But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid; For the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken.” A dream of a tree of life is a symbol of communion with God. Refer to; Revelation 2:7 “He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.” A dream of the tree of knowledge of good and evil can therefore symbolize all things and all things pertain to God alone. Refer to; Genesis 3:22 “Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat and live forever.” Every fruit bearing tree in the dream symbolizes God’s goodness or fruition. Genesis 1:12 “And the earth brought forth the grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.” Oak An Oak is a tree that bears corns as fruits, and typically has lobed deciduous leaves. An Oak tree in the dream symbolizes guidance. Refer to; Genesis 12:6 “Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, as far as the terebinth (Oak) tree of Moreh. And canaanites were then in the land.” Palm A palm tree is an unbranched ever green tree with a crown of long feathered leaves. A palm tree in the dream symbolizes judgement as taught by; Judges 4:4-6 “Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, was judging Israel at that time and she would sit under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the moutains of Ephraim…….” Tree of weeping This is also known as the Oak of weeping. The tree of weeping in the dream symbolizes death. Refer to; Genesis 35:8 "Now Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the terebinth tree. So the name of it was called Allon Bachuth.” WATER The bible and water are very much connected. Water is mentioned 722 times in the sciptures. Water in dreams speaks of: - Physical birth: Genesis 1:20 shows us that life comes out of the water. “Then God said, "Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” If a woman is in labour and the baby is about to be born, we wait for that water to break so that the baby can come forth into life. Water also must come forth before spiritual birth takes palce. Water speaks of God's Word. Refer to; Ephesians 5:26 "That He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word.” Rain in the dream is a sign of the presence of God. Refer to; Isaiah 55:10-11 "For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there. But water the earth And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.’’ Water in the dream also repesents social justice. Refer to; Amos 5:24 “But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream.” Water speaks of purification and cleaning. A ceremonial washing with water in a dream symbolizes greater purity. Ezekiel 36:25 “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean, I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.” Hebrew 10:22 “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” In a dream, water also speaks of restlessness and tribulation. Refer to; Genesis 7:21-23 “And all flesh died that moved on the earth, the birds and the cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died. So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground both: man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth......" Water in a dream also speaks of deliverance and rescue. Refer to; Genesis 7:17. This scenario above can be described in the testimony of how Noah and his family who were delivered through the Ark that the waters and floods could not destroy. “Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.” Further more, water in a dream speaks of blessings from God. look at; John 2:7-11 “Jesus said to them, "Fill the waterpots with water, "and they filled it up to the brim. He said to them, to them "Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast". And they took it, When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. And he said to him, "Every man at the begining sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drank, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!......." Water is generally used in a variety of ways to symbolize many things in the scriptures. Further still, sometimes in the dream, water symbolizes trouble as seen in; Pslams 69:1 "Save me O God! For the waters have come up to my neck.” Water in the dream also symbolizes enemies who can attack as in; Isaiah 8:7 "Now therefore, behold the Lord brings up over them the waters of the River, strong and mighty-The king of Assyria and all his glory: He will go up over all his channels and go up over all his banks". Additionally, water in the dream symbolizes wells of salvation. Refer to; Isaiah 12:3 “Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” Water in the dream is also a symbol of God's help. Refer to; Isaiah 8:6 “Inasmuch as these people refused the waters of Shiloah that flow softly, And rejoice in Rezin and in Ramaliah's son.” Water in the dream symbolizes man's purpose. Refer to; Proverbs 20:5 “Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, But a man of understanding will draw it out.'” Water in the dream is also a symbol of an adulterous woman. Look at; Proverbs 9:17 “Stolen water is sweet, And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.” In further analysis, water in the dream symbolizes going through femine or overcoming something. Refer to; Psalms 72:6 “He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing, Like showers that water the earth.” Water in the dream also represents Purity and freshness it is symbolized in fountains of water as found in; John 4:14 as follows; “But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst, but the water that I shall give him become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” However, boiling water in the dream is a symbol of calamity poured out on people. Refer to; Jeremiah 1:13-14 “And the word of the LORD came to me the second time, saying, "What do you see? And I said a boiling pot, and it is facing away from the North……” NATURAL DISASTERS Dreaming of being in any disaster means you are or the person in the dream is in danger of losing property or people connected to them. God has said in bible prophesy that natural disaters would grow in frequency and intensify as the age approaches to shake people out of their complancency in order to seek him (God). Mathew 24:7 says; “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom among kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places.” Luke 21:25-26 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars, and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring: men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectations of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken." Dreams of floods A flood is an overflow of a large amount of water beyond its normal confines. Floods in the dream symbolized a direct judgment of God and all the wicked were destroyed and all the righteous were blessed. Refer to; Genesis 6:7-8. “So the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air for I am sorry that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” SYMBOLISM OF DREAMS OF TRAGEDY A tragedy refers to an event causing great suffering, destruction and distress for example a serious accident, crime or natural catastrophes. Tragedies in the dream symbolize a wake-up call. Refer to; Luke 13:4-5 “Or those eighteens on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” Dreams of tragedy also symbolize a Call to repentance. Look at; Romans 2:4 “Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?” More important to note is that dreams of tragedy symbolize the finger of Satan. Job 1:12, 15, 19 “And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not lay a hand on his person........” Note: Sometimes disasters are simply natural when tempered with. Dreams of the earth swallowing men symbolize rebellion against God. Look at; Numbers 16:27-33. “So they got away from around the tents of Korah, Dathan and Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the door of their tents, with wives, their sons and their little children. And Moses said, by this you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these works, for I have not done them of my own will. If these men, die naturally like all men, or if they are visited by the common fate of all men, then the LORD has not sent me, But if the LORD creates a new thing, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them..........” Dreams of serpents of fire symbolize punishment. Look at; Numbers 21:6 "So the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people and many of the people of Israel died.” Dreams of tumors on the secret parts symbolize stealing from God. Refer to; 1st Samuel 5:6-9 “But the hand of God was heavy on the people of Ashdod, and He ravaged them and struck them with tumors, both Ashdod and its territory………” Dreams of a city burning down symbolize wickedness. (Genesis 19). The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God using brimstone and fire because of their wickedness, Dreams of beasts mauling people symbolize curses. Mauling means inflicting wounds on a person or an animal through scratching and tearing. Refer to; 2nd Kings 2:23-24 “Then he went up from there to Bethel: and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, "Go up, you baldhead! Go up you baldhead!’ So he turned around and looked at them and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forth-two of the youths.” The natural things of this world are a picture of perfect reflection of the spiritual. God so graciously conveys to us heavenly truth through the use of natural elements that are so very familiar to us and appear in our dreams. A dream of wind blowing symbolizes life and vitality of the Holy Spirit. Refer to; John 3:8 “The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” A dream of rivers symbolizes healing. Look at; John 7:37-38 “On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts; let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said "out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” A dream of dew also symbolizes The Holy Spirit is a symbol of dew to the Christian at the start of each new day. Like dew is visible at the start of each new day. However, dew symbolizes blossom. Look at; Hosea 14:5 "I will be like the dew to Israel; He shall grow like lily, And lengthen his roots like Lebanon. DREAMS OF FIRE Fire is a symbol of Holy Spirit. Refer to; Matthew 3:14 "And John tried to prevent Him, saying, I need to be baptized by you, and are you coming to me? But Jesus answered and said to him, ‘permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.’ Then he allowed Him.” Fire is a symbol of the character of God. refer to; Deuteronomy 4:24 "For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God". Dreams of dust, stars and sand, symbolizes descendant or people of the future. Those who live by faith are descendants of Abraham. Look at; Galatians 3:7 “Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.” Dreams of a rainbow. A rainbow refers to an arch of colors formed in the sky in certain circumstances. The rainbow in the dream symbolizes a covenant. Revelation 4:2-3 teaches so as follows; "Immediately I was in the Spirit: and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. And He who sat there was like jasper and a Sardius stone in appearance, and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald.” Dreams of darkness Darkenss refers to a partial or total absence of light. Dreams of darkness symbolize sin, separation or satanic control. Refer to; Acts 26:18. Dreams of stars symbolize leading the people of God. Numbers 24:17 “I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near. A Star shall come out of Jacob; A Scepter shall rise out of Israel, And batter the brow of Moab, And destroy all the sons of to tumult.” PRAYER FOR NATURAL SYMBOLS My God, it is written the secret things belong to you according to Deuteronomy 29:29 “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” Lord please reveal to me mysteries about nature in my dreams so that I may distinguish between evil and good as promised in; Isaiah 40:5 “The glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” It is written in Job 12:7-10 that; “But now ask the beasts and they will teach you And the birds of the air, and they will tell you, Or speak to the earth and it will teach you……...” Therefore as it is written above, animals will teach me so are the earth, sea and creatures manifest your wisdom to me through nature. Declare your glory through nature. Psalms 104:24-25 says; “O LORD, how manifold is your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of your possessions - this great and wide sea, in which are innumerable teeming things, living things both small and great.” Nature is full of your unfailing love, Lord show me your hidden love in nature. May all the dreams about nature never be manipulated by the devil to send wrong signals to God's people? Lord show me your wisdom through nature in Jesus Name. Amen CHAPTER EIGHT NUMBERS, CLOTH, COLOR AND METAL SYMBOLS NUMBER DREAM SYMBOLS The Bible says in Psalms 90:12. “So teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Dreaming of numbers can unlock knowledge of the future; some have studied numbers through numerology. But this leaves a lot to be desired. Numerology is the study of individual numbers; however the bible is the best and ultimate source of revelation. Althrough some people are cautious about assigning too much importance to numbers in the Bible which may lead to falsehood. It must be noted that we can no longer deny that numbers possess a lot of symbolic or literal significance as analyzed below by the help of God. One. One in the dream means beginning. It is a symbol of the true God. 1 John 5:7 “For there are three are that bear witness in heaven; the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit and these three are one” Two. Two in the dream means witness; it is a symbol of two witnesses. Mathew 18:16 “But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.” Three. Three in the dream means complete, it is a symbol of completeness in three or trinity; it is also alluded to as the number of agreement. God often uses color to express Himself, every color of the spectrum of visible light is pregnant with revelation. We will now turn to examine the meaning of the following common colors that appear in dreams as revealed in the scripture. White White is a color which contains an equal balance of all the colors of the spectrum. White color symbolizes purity, righteousness and holiness. Psalms 51:7 “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be white than snow.” The white color also symbolizes the following. Victory Revelation 6:2 “And I looked, and behold, a white horse He who sat on it had a bow, and crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.” False righteousness Mathew 23:27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! “For you are like white washed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all un cleanness.” Red/ scarlet. Scarlet is a brilliant red color with a tinge of orange. In the spectrum of visible light, it is one quarter of the way between red and orange. The blue color in the dream symbolizes Holy Spirit and authority. It is also specifically a symbol of; Holy covering. Fraility refers to the condition of being weak and delicate. psalms 37:2 “For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.” Black Black refers to the very darkest color owing to the absence of or complete absorption of light. He is clean and the priest shall pronounce him clean.” Brown This is a colour produced by mixing red, yellow and black. The brown color in the dream symbolizes flesh. Lord, save me from a troubling spirit arising out of troubling dreams from satanic numbers, color or cloth or metal symbols because it is written in the book of; (Psalms 4:8) that:- “I will both lie down in peace, and sleep, For you alone, O LORD, make me dwell In safety.” Further still, Psalms 34:3 says; “I sought the lord and he heard me and delivered me from all my fears.” Every terrifying dream I bind you in Jesus name who delivers me. Lord Jesus, enlarge the meaning of dreams to me and keep me from harmful dreams so that I will be free from pain. Now therefore Lord if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways of dreams that I may know you more in order to find favor in your sight. Dear God, lift me up for your blessing today in my dreams. I pray that you will anoint me with strength to understand, grace to be encouraged throughout the night in my dreams. CHAPTER NINE PLACES AND LOCATIONS SYMBOLS The place in which the dream takes place is a symbol of a given significance. Each location in a dream is a map of sorts that tells you how something in your life requires response, action or reaction. May God reveal to you more through the following symbols if they apprear in your dreams or the dreams of another. Abandoned road An abandoned road in the dream symbolizes one’s own plans or stubborness. Refer to; Jeremiah 18:15 “Because My people have forgotten Me, they have burned incense to worthless idols. And they have caused themselves to stumble in their ways, From the ancient Paths, To Walk in pathways and not on a highway.” Bakery A bakery is a place where bread or cakes are made or sold. A bakery in a dream symbolizes the process of producing spiritual or otherwise, substances for others. Refer to; Genesis 40:1 “It came to pass after these things that the butler and baker of the king of Egypt offended their lord, the king of Egypt.” . Bank A bank refers to a financial establishment that invests money deposited by people. A bank in the dream symbolizes investment and security, look at the teaching in; Luke 19:23 “Why then did you put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?” Bar A bar is a place where drinks, especially alcoholic drinks, are sold and drunk. A bar in the dream symbolizes a bad environment. The idea in 1st Corinthians 6:10 gives a clue of the bible perception about those who attend sessions in the bar. “Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.” Barn A barn is a large farm building used for storing grain. A barn in the dream symbolizes a person’s stored wealth. Refer to; Proverbs 3:10 “So your barns will be filled with Plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.” Bathroom Abathroom is a room containing a bath tub or shower. A bathroom in the dream symbolizes an invasion into one’s privacy. 2nd Samuel 11:2 is an example of the above explanation. “Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing and the woman was very beautiful to behold.” Castle A castle is a large building or group of buildings fortified against attack with thick walls. A castle in the dream symbolizes a stronghold. 2nd kings 15:25 reveals how pekah killed the king in the castle (citadel of the king’s house) which was a stronghold symbol. “Then Pekah the son of Remaliah, an officer of his, conspired against him and killed him in Samaria, in the citadel of the king’s house, along with Argob and Arieh, and with him were fifty men of Gilead. He killed him and reigned in his place.” Cave A cave is a large underground chamber, typically of natural origin in a hillside or cliff. Refer to; Isaiah 42:22 “But this is a people robbed and plundered; All of the them are snared in holes(cave), And they are hidden in prison, houses; They are for prey, and no one delivers, For plunder, and no one says “Restore” Cemetery A cemetery simply means a burial ground or a grave yard. A cemetery in the dream symbolizes one who is spiritually dead. Mathew 8:28 describes how two demon possessed men lived in between tombs which are equivalent to a cemetery “When He had come to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way.” Church A church litrerally refers to a building used for public Christians worship. A church in the dream symbolizes beliefs about Christianity and their relationship with God for example; Hebrews 12:23 “To the general assembly and church of the first born who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect.” City A city is a large town. A city in the dream symbolizes the act of being busy, blessings or wickedness. Proverbs 11:10-11 is one such example that describes the above interpretation; “When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices; And when the wicked perish, there is jubilation. By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted, But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.” College/ University A college/university refers to educational institutions. In the dream, colleges and universities symbolize higher learning. Acts 19:9 calls a college\university the school of Tryannus. “But when some were hardened and did not believe, but spoke evil of the way before the multitude, he departed from them and withdrew the disciples reasoning daily in the school of Tryannus.” (This is a college or University as we know it). Corner of the house The corner of the house in the dream symbolizes living with an argumentative person. Refer to; Proverbs 21:9 “Better to dwell in a corner of a housetop, than in a house shared with a contentious woman.” Couch A couch is along piece of furniture for sereral people to sit on. A couch in the dream symbolizes an adulterous woman. For example; Proverbs 7:16 “I have spread my bed with tapestry, Colored coverings of Egyptian linen.” Court A court is atribunal presided over by judges. A court in the dream symbolizes accountability for one’s actions or judging the actions of others. Refer to; Mathew 5:22 “But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother ‘Raca’. Shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool! Shall be in danger of hell fire.” Dark path A path is a way or track laid down for walking. A dark path in the dream symbolizes an evil place or the way of the wicked. For example; Psalms 35:5-6 “Let them be like chaff before the wind, and let the angel of the LORD chase them, let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of the LORD pursue them.” Deep water Deep water in the dream symbolizes a spiritual place. Refer to; Ezekiel 47:5 “Again he measured one thousand, and it was a river that, I could not cross for the water was too deep, water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed.” Desert A desert is a dry, barren area of land, especially one covered with sand. A fortress in the dream symbolizes protection offered to believers through faith in Christ. Psalms 31:3 is a perfect example of the above. “For You are my rock and dry fortress Therefore, for Your name’s sake, Lead me and guide me.” Garden A garden is a piece of land used for cultivation. Agarden in the dream symbolizes love and flourishing. Such as described in; Song of Songs 4:12 “A garden enclosed Is my sister, my spouse, Aspring shut up, A fountain sealed.” Government The government is the ruling body of a nation, state or community. Government in the dream symbolizes God given authority. Refer to; Romans 13:1 “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.” Highway A highway refers to the main road especially one connecting to major cities. A high way in the dream symbolizes the path of an upright person Proverbs 15:19 describes perfectly the above interpretation. “The way of the lazy man is like a hedge of thorns, But the way of the upright is a highway.” Hill A hill is a naturally raised area of land. A hill in the dream symbolizes God’s dwelling place. Refer to; Psalms 43:3 “Oh send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill And to Your tabernacle.” Similarly, a hill symbolizes a place of good things as described in; Isaiah 31:4 “For thus the LORD has spoken to me As a lion roars, And a young lion over his prey, (When a multitude of shepherds is summoned against him, He will not be afraid of their voice Nor be disturbed by their noise) so the LORD of hosts will come down To fight for Mount Zion and for its hill”. House A house refers to a building for human habitation. A house in the dream symbolizes a place of living. For example; Mathew 12:43-44 “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, I will return to my house from which I came, ‘And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.” Also a house symbolizes a fool or foolish action as found in; Proverbs 14:1 “The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish pulls it down with her hands.” It also symbolizes a wicked person Proverbs 14:11 “The house of the wicked will be overthrown But the tent of the upright will Flourish.” Contratry to the above, a house symbolizes a wise person. For example; Proverbs 21:20 “There is a desirable treasure, And oil in the dwelling of the wise, But a foolish man squanders it.” Furthermore, a house symbolizes disaster as described in; Mathew 7:26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.” Finally, a house symbolizes judgment. Ezekiel 16:41 “They shall burn your houses with fire and execute judgments on you in the sight of many women: and I will make you cease playing the harlot, and you shall no longer hire lovers.” Ice water This simply refers to water which is frozen. Refer to Ecclesiastes 7:4 (Good News Bible) “Someone who is always thinking about happiness is a fool. A wise person thinks about death.” Noah’s Ark Noah’s Ark is the ship in which Noah, his family, and the animals were saved from the flood. Noah’s Ark in the dream symbolizes the promise. Refer to; Genesis 7:1 “Then the LORD said to Noah, ‘Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.” Office An office is a room or building used as a place for commercial, professional work. The office in the dream symbolizes earthly or spiritual authority. Refer to; 1st chronicles 9:26 “For in this trusted office were four chief gatekeepers; They were Levites. And they had charge over the chambers and treasuries of the house of God.” Oven An oven is an enclosed compartment, as in a kitchen range for cooking and heating food. An oven in the dream symbolizes judgment upon God’s enemies. Refer to; Psalms 21:9 “You shall make them a fiery oven in the time of Your anger, the LORD shall swallow them up in His wrath, and the fire shall devour them.” Parade A parade is a public procession. Look at; Luke 3:5 “Every valley shall be filled And every mountain and hill brought low: The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough ways smooth;” Roof A roof is a structure forming the upper covering of the building. A Leaking roof in the dream is a symbol of idleness while a damaged roof symbolizes laziness Ecclesiastes 10:18 describes the above. “Because of laziness the building decays, And through idleness of hands the house leaks.” Room A room is a part of division of a building enclosed by walls, floor and ceiling. A school in the dream symbolizes a time of learning, it also symbolizes a setting for past or present important events in a person’s life. Refer to; Acts 19:9 “But when some were hardened and did not believe, but spoke evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them and the disciples reasoning daily in the school of Trannus!” Shade A shade is a comparative darkness and coolness caused by shelter from direct sunlight. A shade in the dream symbolizes protection. Refer to; Psalms 121:5 “The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand.” Shadow A shadow is a dark area or caused by a body. A shadow in the dream symbolizes God’s blessing. Refer to; Psalms 36:7 “How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.” A shadow also symbolizes death or demonic presence. As found in the book of; Psalms 44:19 “But You have severely broken us in the place of jackals, And covered us with the shadow of death.” Further still, a shadow in Psalms 23:4 symbolizes God’s protection “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, For You are with me; Your rod and your staff, They comfort me.” Shelter A shelter is a place giving temporary protection from bad weather or danger. A shelter in the dream symbolizes refuge from enemies. Refer to; Psalms 31:20 “You shall hide them in the secret Place of Your presence from the Plots of man; You shall keep them Secretly in a pavilion from the strift of tongues.” Ship A ship is a vessel larger than a boat. A ship in the dream symbolizes a person’s life. James 3:4 gives a symbolism of a ship as compared to a person’s life. “Look also at ships; although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very smaller rudder whenever the pilot desires.” Sky The sky is the region of the atmosphere outer space seen from the earth. The sky in the dream symbolizes separation. Refer to; Genesis 1:6 “Then God said, Let there be firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the water from the waters.” The sky also symbolizes a witness and faithfulness. As found in; Psalms 89:37 “It shall be established forever like the moon, Even like the faithful witness in the sky.” Soil Soil is the upper layer of earth in which plants grow. Soil in the dream symbolizes a condition of a person’s heart. Refer to; Mathew 13:23 “But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces some a hundred-fold, some sixty,” Sphere A sphere is a round solid figure. A store house in the dream is a symbol which shows that things are only accessible through God. Look at; Job 38:22 challenging us to this effect. “Have you entered the treasury of snow, Or have you seen the treasury of hail.” Stream A steam is a small narrow river. A stream in the dream symbolizes a life flowing from God. Psalms 65:9 “You visit the earth and water it, You greatly enrich it. The rivers of God is full of water; You provide their grain, For so You have prepared it.” Street A Street is a public road in city. A Street in the dream symbolizes hypocrisy or evangelism. Refer to; Luke 14:23 “Then the master said to the servant, Go Out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” Theater A theatre is a building or outdoor area in which plays and other dramatic performances are given. A theatre in the dream symbolizes a person who has wandered a way from the assembly of truth. Proverbs 21:16-17 describes this theartre as an assembly. “A man who wanders from the way of understanding will rest in the assembly of the dead. He who loves pleasure will be a poor man; He who loves wine and oil will not be rich.” Village A village is a group of house and associated buildings situated in a rural area. A village in the dream symbolizes the state of being private and away from other people. Look at; Song of Songs 7:11 “Come, my beloved, Let us go forth to the field; Let us lodge in the villages.” Vineyard A vineyard is described as a plantation of grapevines. A vineyard in the dream symbolizes a person’s life or laziness. Look at; Proverbs 24:30-31 “I went by the field of the lazy man, And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding; And there it was, all overgrown with thorns, Its surface was covered with nettles.” PRAYER Lord may I find favor in your sight, show me the meaning of my dreams that I may know your will and find favor in your sight as written in; Exodus 33:13 “Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight And consider that this nation is Your People.” May I abound more and more with knowledge and all discernment so that I may approve what is excellent and pure through my dream and I may benefit other people. CHAPTER TEN BODY PARTS AND ACTIONS In dreams, the body is a symbol and so are the body parts. The Bible uses these as a metaphor therefore specific body parts are especially significant if they appear in dreams as follows; Ankle An ankle is a joint connecting the foot with the leg. An ankle in the dream symbolizes having faith in a certain situation. Ezekiel 47:3 is descriptive of the above interpretation as follows; “And when the man went out to the east with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the water came up on my ankles.” Arm An arm refers to each of the two upper limbs of the human body from the shoulder to the hand. An arm in the dream symbolizes being delivered. Isaiah 40:10-11 makes a reference of the above. “Behold the Lord God shall come with a strong Hand, and His arm shall rule for Him; Behold His reward is with Him, and His work before Him He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And Carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those who are with young.” Body A body is the physical structure of a person. The body in the dream symbolizes the temple of God or also it is a symbol of Sin in a person’s life 1st Corinthians 3:16 makes mention of the above. “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the spirit of God dwells in you?” Baby A baby is a very young child, especially one newly or recently born. A baby in the dream symbolizes a new thing being brought into a person’s life or a gift from God such as beginning is described in; Isaiah42:9 “Behold, the former things have come to Pass and new things I declare; Before they spring forth,I tell you of them” Babies are also children who are a symbol of heritage as found in; Psalms 127:3 as follows; “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward.” Back The behind part of the human body from the shoulders to the hips. If a person turns their back on you in a dream it symbolizes an attempt to ignore or dismiss you! Refer to; Jeremiah 32:33 “And they have turned to Me the back, and not the face; though, I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive Instruction.” Backsliding Backsliding refers to going back to the evil behavior or influence which one had in the past. A dream of backsliding symbolizes relapsing into Old behaviors. Hosea14:4 portrays God dealing with the spirit of backsliding. “I will heal their backsliding, I will Love them freely, for My anger has turned away from him.” Bald Being bald refers to having a scalp wholly or partly lacking hair. Losing hair in a dream symbolizes lack of protection from God. Micah 1:16 “Make yourself bald and cut off your hair, Because of your precious children; Enlarge your baldness like and eagle, for they shall go from you into captivity.” Bandits Bandits are robbers or outlaws belonging to a gang. Bandits in the dream symbolize a group of demons sent to raid someone. Refer to; Hosea 7:1 “When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was uncovered, And the wickedness of Samaria for they have committed fraud; A thief comes in; A band of robbers takes spoil outside.” Barbarian A barbarian is a member of a community or tribe not belonging to one of the great civilizations. Dreaming of a barbarian, symbolizes a person or something that you cannot understand. 1st Corinthians 14:11 describes a barbarian situation. “Therefore, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I Shall be a foreigner to him who speaks, and he who speaks will be a foreigner to me.” Bathing Bathing refers to washing ones’ body through immersing it in water. Bathing in the dream symbolizes cleansing of oneself; intimacy and exposure. Exodus 30:19-21 “For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hand and their feet in water from it. When they go into the tabernacle of meeting, Or when they come near the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire to the LORD, they shall wash with water, lest they die………..” Beaten Being beaten refers to the action of having been struck. Belching in the dream symbolizes wicked words. Refer to; Psalms 59:7 “Indeed, they belch with their mouth; swords are in their lips; for they say, who hears?” Biting Biting refers to using the teeth to cut into something. Being bitten in the dream or biting others symbolizes strife and quarreling. Galatians 5:15 gives a warning about this. “But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!” Blind A person or something which is blind is unable to see. Blindness in the dream symbolizes one without Godly instruction or one who needs brotherly love in ones’ life. Prov 29:18 “Where there is no revelation, the people Cast off restraint; But happy is he Who keeps the law.” Lack of revelation is also a form of blindness which is deadly. 2nd peter 1:9 also describes blindness. “For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.” Blindfold Blindfold refers to depriving someone of sight by tying a piece of cloth round the eyes. Being blindfolded symbolizes spiritual blockage or a person’s Inability to see the truth. Refer to; 2nd Corinthians 4:4 “Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, we do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God should shine on them.” Bodyguard A bodyguard is a person or group of people hired to escort and protect another person. Dreaming of a bodyguard symbolizes a close spiritual advisor, friend and a protector. 1st Samuel 22:14 describes the above. “So Ahimelech answered the king and Said, And who among all your servants is as faithful as David, who is the king’s son in-law, who goes at your bidding and is honorable in your house.” Bones Bones are any of the pieces of hard, whitish tissue making up the skeleton. Dreaming of bones symbolizes spiritual death and hopelessness. Refer to; Ezekiel 37:11 “Then He said to me, Son of man, These bones are the whole house of Israel .they indeed say, Our bones are dry, our hope is lost and we ourselves are cut off!” Branch A branch is a part of a tree that grows out from the trunk . A branch in the dream symbolizes Christ. Refer to; Zechariah 3:8 “Hear, O Joshua, the high priest, you and your companions who sit before you, For they are a wondrous sign; For behold, I am bringing forth My servant the BRANCH.” Bride A bride is a woman on her wedding day. A bride in a dream symbolizes the church. It may also symbolize a foretold marriage. Revelation 21:9 is a good example to describe the above; “Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the Seven last plagues came to me and talked with me saying, Come, I will show you the bride, the lamb’s wife.” Bride Groom. A bride groom is a man on his wedding day. A bridegroom in the dream symbolizes Christ spiritually as follows in; Mathew 9:15 “And Jesus said to them. Every demonic activity in dreams which are designed to reverse the symbolism of God’s message in my dream or manipulate a message to have a form of godliness but deny the power there in inorder to cause me to support falsehood or evil I bind, break, block and blot you out of my life in Jesus’ name. I cancel every body symbolism alluding to my death, failure, depression or fear in Jesus name. I commit all the body actions appearing in my dreams under the authority of the word of God and reject all evil forged, formed and fashioned against me in Jesus’ name. Amen! CONCLUSION In fifteen years, as a counselor, one of the outstanding features characterizing my counseling sessions has been the urge and quest for a sizeable number of my counselees to find out the meaning of their dreams. This for long produced a dilemma in me, which in turn produced in me a realization of a call to serve God in the ministry of dreams and in the service of dream interpretation which belong to the Lord in accordance to Genesis 40:8. Interpretations belong to God because it is God's word that is written in the bible. One should know that no divine dream Interpretation gift is of any private interpretation, for it never comes by the will of man but servants of God interprete dreams as they are moved by the Holy Ghost. The uniqueness with dreams is their symbols and features. The bible deals much in dreams which is worth noting because today we live in a generation which is obsessed with dreams. In the pages of the bible, only those who had a strong relationship with God and feared him were given the privilege of interpreting dreams. Further still, dreams are of a natural function enabled through the brain. On the other hand, interpretation of dreams is about seeking God, having the fear of God, being in a personal relationship with God and responding in obedience and faith to the grace of God which has God given wisdom to know when symbols have different meanings and when they point to the same thing in the dream and now with the completion of the bible, God has chosen to communicate with us through dreams, it must be noted that when one gets a dream and they are faced with urgent desires to react upon it consequently; the first response should be aided by the authority of the scriptures not the belief in the dream. Dreams are full of symbolism, and perhaps they need to be understood like parables, and the language of dreams is much of symbolism and allegories whose representation must be sought from the scriptures which set a parameter for Christian life. Do not concern yourself with much details about the dream as it may bring about loss of interpretation due to much eagerness built on the simplest form i.e. start from the known the going to the unknown. Remember dreams from God never come to leave us in the dark but to reveal something of God to us. You must discern between dreams that come from God, soul imaginations and Satan. And the best way to do this is to invite the authority of the scripture over every dream. Because of lack of knowledge, we disregard Holy Ghost dreams. One should note that listening to the Holy Ghost is the most important aspect of finding the honest interpretation of any dream that we have. Seeking the interpretation of dreams is only natural and right. Although dream interpretation is not listed as a spiritual gift, it is clearly a grace given by Holy Ghost and it is interpreted by Him. Therefore since grace is a gift, it is justiable to call dream interpretation a gift. It is clear that in the symbols of our dreams God paints, pictures with colors, figures, animals, nature etc that we know to symbolize important messages. Although the New Testament gives far less reporting of dreams than the Old Testament, we must not lose sight of Peter's pronouncement that in the last days (that would be about now) that God would use dreams - Acts 2:17. A prayer for salvation This study on dreams proves a lot among which is the warning from God about a wicked generation that is in need of salvation. If you have not been helped by this book it could imply that you need to examine your life, repent and lose yourself from the web of Satan attacking you with re-occurring dreams that have created weakness and weirdness in your life and you feel empty, lost and confused. 1 John 3:8 says; “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” And Romans 10:9-10 offers all mankind an opportunity to receive Jesus Christ as Lord of their life. Carefully consider and reconsider the need to have a new life by mentioning this simple prayer: - Lord Jesus, I thank you for loving and knowing me. I ask you to forgive all of my sins that I committed and those that they commited for me, remove my name from the book of death and add it to the book of life. The threat simulation theory suggests that dreaming should be seen as an ancient biological defence mechanism that provided an evolutionary advantage because of its capacity to repeatedly stimulate potential threatening events. Researchers like Sigmund Freud famously stated that dreams are the royal road to the unconscious. Modern psychoanalytic though now holds that dreams are just one of the several roads to the unconscious. Ancient civilization saw dreams as portals for receiving wisdom from the gods There are many theories of dreaming, some overlap with others and some are just plain. All these theories are without contraversy and great inadequacy if one lines them up with scriptural truth. However, many scientists point out that dreams often do make sense. Infact, they can follow very intricate plots however illogical. A number of researchers think that dreams are for mental and emotional problem solving. They agree that dreams contain at least a solution for psychological meaning but point out that this does not necessarily prove a purpose overall . AUTHOR’S ANALYSIS Scientific understanding of dreams is still quite vague. Although people like Freud gave dreams great attention in the research world, the truth is that science still does not have a complete answer. HERE IS FOOD FOR THOUGHT ABOUT CONTROVERSIAL SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ON DREAMS PURPORTED RESEARCH FINDINGS People who become blind after birth can see images in their dreams. People who are born blind do not see any images but have dreams equally vivid involving their other senses of sound, smell, touch and emotion. On average, you can dream for about one to two hours every night. It is said that people who snore are definitely not dreaming at that point. You forget 90% of the dreams. 70% of the dream characters in a man’s dream are men. The average person has about 1460 they a year. Every human being dreams except in cases of extreme psychological disorder. Dreaming can help one learn a new task. The most common dream is your spouse cheating. A dream lasts 5 to 20 minutes. Women dream more about family and children. We only dream of what we know. You cannot read while dreaming or tell the time. An average human being spends 6 whole years of their life dreaming. 12% of short sighted people dream exclusively in black and white hence not everyone dreams in color. One can remember a dream within five minutes of waking up. Dreams are not about what dreams are about. You can control your dreams; it is called the lucid dreaming. Quitters have more vivid dreams (people who easily give up). Toddlers do not star(appear) in their own they till They are about 3-4 years old You are paralyzed while you sleep to prevent your body from acting out aspects of your dreams. Animals dream too. AUTHOR’S ANALYSIS This, I must say is not an entire collection of scientific research but it establishes an over view about how excitement and curiosity in the world today characterizes the subject of dreams. God has chosen to communicate with mankind through dreams so he alone guides and counsels us through our dreams. MAJOR QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK ON THE SUBJECT OF DREAMS. Can unsaved people have dreams from God? Quick answer yes! In Genesis 20:6-8 God spoke to abimelech a non believer warning him about taking a believer’s wife. (Abraham) In Genesis 32:24 God spoke to Laban a non believer warning him about trying to take a life of a believer. (Jacob) Ultimately God decides who he talks to in dreams whether he/she is a believer or not. He told Moses as recorded in Romans 9:15 – that he will have mercy on whom he has mercy and he will have compassion on whom he has compassion. Does God still speak to people in dreams? Quick answer yes! God uses dreams to guide his people, not just for giving special revelation but for directing them in life some even in the Christian circles argue that dreams are nothing and should be ignored, others seem disappointed if they do not receive dreams. If we read from the scriptures, we conclude that dreams are supernatural, we all would like to dream, as announced by Peter in Acts 2:17-21 or the magi dream in Mathew 2:12-22. Ocultic powers are choking the word of God today among many people thus controlling many processes, truth is God still speaks through dreams but the attention given to them is so little. Where do dreams come from? Dreams can be a product of our own imaginations acquired from watching all types of films, desiring, worrying, trouble etc Isaiah 29:8), dreams come from God Genesis 1:10-13, Genesis 37:5-8, Daniel 7 They can come from the demonic world because Satan its head attempts to play the role of God. 2nd Corinthians 11:14 “And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” Can someone interprete dreams? It should be noted that God has gifted some in the body of Christ with gifts of dream interpretation and interpretation can be very helpful for difficult they. James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” Should Christians consult non Christian sources for dream interpretation? There are many sources of dream interpretation, common among them are; Tribal interpretation Mediums interpretation Christian interpretation Islamic interpretation Dream dictionaries Scientific interpretation Professional dream interpretation General occultic interpretation Psychotherapy interpretation. The majority of interpretation is by powers of mediums or necromancers which the bible warns against (Leviticus 19:31) and the power of sorcerers (Exodus 22:18). The scripture is our final authority; anything that does not line up with the scriptures is under easy manipulation by Satan. Let us accept the promise in 1 John 2:27 “But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.” It is important to understand that not all dreams are God given, some come from a busy day and yet others come from Satan. For a dream to have a right message, one should take note of the need for Godly counsel like pharaoh sought counsel from Joseph.(Genesis 41) 7) Is my dream real? Some have done terrible things out of obedience to what they think is a dream from God. Others have neglected their dreams out of failure to discern their meaning but to be sure that your dream does not make you miss an important message from God, you should consider the following; Is it convicting? Know that a dream from God lingers and might bother you until it fulfills its purpose. Therefore, a dream is as real as its purpose. 8) Why is my dream re-occurring? Re-ocurring dreams are important messages requiring attention. An example is in Genesis 41 where dreams were given by God to pharaoh, to warn him of a coming famine. However, note that recurring dreams that wake you up or keep nagging you are differently a signal requiring attention and wisdom. Remember if the interpretation someone offers does not feel right for you, you are never obligated to accept it. 9) Why do I forget my dreams? Dreams that come from emptiness are easily forgotten because such dreams have no purpose. E.g in Isaiah 29:8 note that to be empty is spiritual dryness, prayer less or not having the word of God. Forgetting can also be due to a medical condition that affects the mind’s memory. Finally, forgetting is due to the evil work of Satan that target the mind which is an important component used in dreaming inorder to manipulate the sub-conscience and dominate the conscience. Satan’s desire is to conquer and control your thought life and use your mind for destruction hence the counsel in; Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” 10) Are dreams from children relevant? Several times children have narrated to me of how they had dreams, some of them get nightmares, children must be prayed for so that they get peace in their sleep. Refer to; (Psalms 4:8, psalms 34:4) 11) Can I pray to God to give me a dream? If one gets dreams from God, they dream according to the grace and not a willful desire. God gives dreams and he will, but at his prerogative, dreams are up to God and he chooses who gets it or who dreams. (1st Corinthians 12:1-11) 12) Can Satan attack believers through dreams? Quick answer-yes! Therefore safeguard your self by being; Strong in the lord. Put on the whole armor of God. Learn spiritual warfare. (Psalms 119:11, Ephesians 1-3, 4-6, 6:10-20) We are all hungry for our dreams taking us beyond our perception of reality and because of this hunger, those who claim to have special abilities of interpreting dreams will always find an audience in those who are hungry for understanding their dreams. There is something special about the way God reveals Himself in dreams to people. However, the dreams today promote an image of God that does not live up with His word which explains that Satan is at work and by far influencing many people’s dreams. Godly attempts like the material in this book are designed to reverse the status quo in favor of the kingdom of God.
