Purpose-Supply chain management plays an important role in sustaining businesses in today's competitive environment. Therefore, industrial managers are focusing on exploring the key performance improvement attributes of supply chain management to achieve a better position in the global market. Aimed at ensuring best supply chain management practices, this study presents the key performance improvement attributes, known as critical success factors (CSFs), within the context of the apparel supply chain of Bangladesh. Design/methodology/approach-In this paper, the interpretive structural modeling method (ISM) has been applied to develop a structural framework to analyze the contextual relationship among the factors under consideration. MICMAC (Matriced' Impacts Croises Multiplication Appliquee aunClassement) analysis has also been performed to define the classification of the CSFs in terms of their driving and dependence power. Findings-The research findings reveal that supply chain collaboration/partnership and customer satisfaction are of crucial importance to success in the context of supply chain management of the readymade (RMG) garments industry of Bangladesh. Further evidence suggests that these, along with other success factors, can assist in achieving a competitive advantage and better market position. A number of theoretical and managerial implications have been provided for managers and practitioners, and for further evaluation of the study. Originality/value-This paper considers a new supply chain problem which identifies and evaluates critical success factors. This paper also develops a new structural model for evaluating critical success factors.

Background: The identification of key success factors in managing supply chain (SCM) is one of the main tasks of managers, but still a weakly explored study field. We lack a comprehensive approach, in which financial, infrastructure, logistic, administrative and relational aspects are simultaneously examined. Thus, the aim of the analysis is was to identify the hierarchy of importance of different factors and their common relations among these, which were considered as the most important. Methods: The study material was collected based on an in-depth interviews with the use of a structured survey questionnaire. The subjects of the study were the employees of Ukrainian company, which operates in dairy industry. Whereas in the analyses, Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) was used. Results: In this study, we distinguished subject constructs, which included success factors in managing supply chain, we determined the level of their significance and we conducted the exemplification of the possible analyses with the use of a case study. Based on the empirical studies, we distinguished autonomous factors (with a low driving force and a low level of dependence) dependent factors (with a high level of dependence and a low driving force) combined (with a high driving force and a high level of dependence) and independent (with a high driving force and a low level of dependence). We used MICMAC analysis in this. Conclusions: Based on the conducted empirical study, it can be concluded, that determining the significance of different success factors in managing supply chains and using ISM method

The abrogation of Multifiber Arrangement in the year 2005 pushed many developing nations into tough competition. Within the textile industry, despite having many advantages apparel manufacturing and exporting organizations (AMEOs) in developing nations are experiencing decline in their supply chain supply chain performance. Developing a comprehensive model to explore and classify factors, which affect the supply chain performance, is extremely significant. Owing to limited research in this area, an exploratory qualitative study involving a variety of organizations in apparel supply chain was carried out, in combination with a literature review, to determine the causes behind that decline. The outcome of preliminary exploratory study and literature review aided in the proposal of a conceptual framework. Employing that framework, a questionnaire survey was designed and piloted to support a quantitative study, which was conducted in the Karachi region in Pakistan. Collected data were analyzed by employing structural equation modeling. Results indicate that a number of factors have a strong influence on the supply chain performance of AMEOs. Apart from contributing to the literature, this study can also be of interest to managers and practitioners from the textile industry, as it clearly indicates areas on which AMEOs need to focus in order to improve their performance.

This paper presents a research framework for studying supply chain excellence, emphasizing two distinct paths of knowledge acquisition, that is qualitative inquiry through interviews with senior supply chain executives in Taiwan and quantitative inquiry through data collection from companies that operate in Taiwan. Four factors are considered as the antecedents of supply chain excellence, such as collaboration, organizational conditions, technology adoption, and operations. The authors use the grounded theory approach to further understand those four critical factors and relevant concepts. Organizational condition was ranked by our senior supply chain executives as the most important factor based on this qualitative investigation. The effect of four critical factors on organizational performance is also assessed through regression analyses, and the results help supply chain professionals in Taiwan determine which factors and concepts of supply chain management to focus on to improve...

This study focused on the investigation of barriers and enablers of supply chain management practice's success. After extensive literature review the author formulated research framework and two hypotheses. The data for the study was collected from 45 focal factories (textile and garment), seven input supplier factories, and 12 customers' firms. The respondents were high level management of the mentioned firms such as CEOs, general managers, V/managers, operations/manufacturing managers, purchasing managers, logistics managers, materials managers, quality managers, marketing managers, and finance managers. 370 effective questionnaires were collected, having a response rate of 82.3%. Before proceeding to hypothesis test, instrument validation was carried out, then the proposed relationships were tested using structural equation modeling. The result indicated that SCM practice enablers enhance the success of SCM practices while, barriers of SCM practices have a negative on the success of SCM practices.

A supply chain is an integrated manufacturing process wherein raw materials are converted into final products, then delivered to customers. Due to the complexity of supply chain nature, it is very difficult to measure its performance. In this study Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) model has been used to measure supply chain performance of a regular ready made garments industry in Bangladesh. Four Key Performance Indicators (KPI) have been measured following the measurement of overall KPI which indicates the ultimate supply chain efficiency. The four KPI values are; Quantity and Timely Delivery 56.67, Adherence to Production Target 55.92, Quality Capability 23.98 and On-Time Shipment 85.9. Overall efficiency of the supply chain is only 61.85% which is not well enough. Only On-Time-Shipment has higher KPI value. Other individual KPI values can be enriched by improving backward linkage, labor, management and production line efficiency and also improving the quality level. However, TQM will play a vital role to improve overall KPI.

Supply chain management (SCM) has become an effective tool now a day to survive in this competitive world. Organizations do their best to improve performance by adopting better supply chain (SC) performance indicators. In this paper 19 key performance indicators (KPI) were identified based on strong literature support in consultation of practitioners and consultants in the field of non-livestock retailing (NLR). NLR is the retailing of agriculture and horticulture products. The technique of factor analysis using principal component analysis with Varimax rotation has classified KPI into four factors as; inventory metrics, customer metrics, flexibility metrics and growth and learning metrics. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) approach was used to develop and validate a model for measuring SC performance of organized NLR industry based on KPI. The data for analysis was collected from top 10 organized NLR players operating in Punjab, Chandigarh, New Delhi and Gurgaon in India. The res...

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are playing an increasingly important role in sustaining economic growth and generating employment in Malaysia. SMEs also play a very crucial role in supply chain management (SCM) as they may serve the roles of suppliers, producers, distributors and customers. However, adoption of SCM in Malaysian SMEs has not been broadly explored. Therefore, the authors propose a conceptual model by examining the moderating effects of contextual factors (firm size, firm age and supply chain length) on the relationship between SCM practices, namely, information sharing, strategic supplier partnership, customer relationship, material flow management, corporate culture and SCM performance in a single study. The study has important managerial implications as the findings will enable management of SMEs to understand progressive and highly varied SCM practices and contextual factors that contribute to the SCM performance and its effective implementation.

This article aims to highlight the factors that influence the supply chain (SC) performance. SC performance is an aggregate of the performance of every company operating in the chain. The relationship between the companies in the SC plays a key role in the SC overall performance. There are different factors that may influence directly a company's performance but indirectly they affect the entire chain. Some of these factors are: longevity of the relationship, supply base reduction, supplier involvement, information sharing, cross-functional teams, trust and commitment. In addition, this paper identifies several other factors that influence the SC performance, such as: environmental uncertainty, top-management support, customer focus, information technology, strategic purchasing, logistic integration and supply network structure. By knowing them, strategies can be build to overcome problems, the opportunities offered can be exploit and lastly these factors can be used to develop SC models with focus on SC performance.

It is widely argued that competition is no longer between organizations, but among supply chains. Effective supply chain management (SCM) has become a potentially way of securing competitive advantage, improving supply chain performance and organizational performance. This research conceptualizes, develops, and validates three dimensions of SCM components (Supply chain concerns, supply chain competence and supply chain practices), supply chain performance and organizational performance. Data for the study were collected from 255 manufacturing industries and measurement scales were tested and validated using structural equation modeling (SEM). It is hoped that this research study will provide a compo site model to assess the causal linkage among the critical components of supply chain and its impact on supply chain performance and organizational performance.
