The main aim of this study was to determine the potency of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolate 18A(Lactococcuslactisssplactis 1),isolated from the colon of Bali cattle to be used as a probiotic candidate. The study was started by confirmation tests of the isolate, including test for growth response in De Man Rogosa and Sharpe(MRS) brothmedium, test on catalase production, and Gram staining. Its probiotic potencywas tested by growing theisolate in MRS broth medium in low pH conditions (pH 2.3 and 4) and in MRS medium supplemented with various concentrations of sodium deoxycholatet (NaDC) (0.2 mM, 0.4 mM, and 0.6 mM). The results showed that isolate 18A was able to grow well in De Man Rogosa and Sharpebrothmediumunder anaerobic condition. In addition, the isolate was catalase negative and Gram positive, indicating that this isolate was confirmed as an LAB isolate. The isolate was resistant to low pH conditions (up to pH 2) and to high concentration of NaDC (up to 0.6 mM), indicating tha...
The research on " Effectiveness of Various Sources of Carbon in Probiotic Fermented In Farming Shrimp Vaname Litopenaeus vannamei " had been done. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the carbon source in the fermentation of probiotic bacteria on survival and vibrio population in maintenance shrimp vaname in controlled tub. The use of carbohydrates from natural food sources are expected to be used as a fermentation medium for growing bacteria probiotic that will be used to multiply the probiotic culture and improve chemical compound that acts as an antibacterial. The treatment that tested was carbon sources for multiplied probiotic i. e: tapioca, sago, rice bran, and a positive control using probiotics RICA 951. filled with aerated seawater and 500 individu of vaname shrimp. Probiotics which has been reproduced in the fermentation medium is given 500 ml every 7 days for each treatment container with 3 replications. The results showed that treatment of various carbon sources in the fermentation probiotic effect to increased survival of life of live shrimp vaname i.e. A (Tapioca) (92%); B (sago) (91.60%); C (rice bran) (79.20%); D (positive control) (70.5%) and reduce the population of vibrio bacteria i.e. A (Tapioca) (4.63 CFU/ml); B (sago) (4.67 CFU/ml); C (rice bran) (4.63 CFU/ml); D (positive control) (4.77 CFU/ml). The use of fermentation media from natural food rice bran, sago, tapioca can be used as a source of nutrients to increase the amount of probiotics that can be applied to farms shrimp vaname.

This study aims to determine the effect of Petro Gladiator® probiotic on the growth of earthworms (Lumbricus rubellus), in terms of the length and weight of earthworms to determine the compost produced from probiotics and earthworms (Lumbricus rubellus). This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 4 replications. The sample of this study is 3 kilograms of earthworms with hand sorting. The results showed that administration of Petro Gladiator® Probiotic has a significant effect (α <0.05) on the increase in total body length of earthworms, while from the weight gain of compost in treatment of different Petro Gladiator® probiotic, there was no significant difference with the Tuket test (α = 0.05). The administration of probiotics significantly (α <0.05) increased the percentage of total N and P content, and decreased total K content. The addition of Petro Gladiator® probiotics has an effect on the length and weight of earthworms. The addition of Pet...

The increase of peanut-based agro-industry today, cause a significant increase in the number of waste products in the form of peanut shells. This can cause a problem to the environment due to insoluble carbohydrate fiber molecules in peanuts. However, the cellulose in peanut waste can be used as useful material, such as prebiotic, which plays a role in the growth of probiotic bacteria. Nowadays, inulin is used as a source of prebiotics in food additives or health supplements. However, its limited availability and high prices have an impact on the cost of finished products. This research was aimed to identify and to analyze the crude extracts of peanut shells waste as a prebiotic substitution material. The crude extract of peanut shells waste was used as a growth medium for the probiotic, Lactobacillus bulgaricus. A completely randomized experimental design with levels of treatments, i.e., 0% (negative control), 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% of peanut shell extracts, as well as inulin as a posi...
