Since supply chain performance impacts the financial performance of services and companies, it is important to optimize and analyze the performances of supply chains. Simulation provides a way to get closer to real life complex situations and uses less simplifications and assumptions than needed with analytical solutions. This paper proposes the application of Monte Carlo simulation based sensitivity analysis of supply chains to handle modeling uncertainties and stochastic nature of the supply chains and to extract and visualize relationship among the decision variables and the Key Performance Indicators. In this article the authors utilize an in-house developed interactive simulator, SIMWARE, capable to simulate complex multi-echelon supply chains based on simple configurable connection of building blocks. The proposed sensitivity analysis technique is based on the improved method used to extract gradients from Monte Carlo simulation. The extracted gradients (sensitivities) are visualized by a technique developed by the authors. The results illustrate that the developed sensitivity analysis tool is flexible enough to handle complex situations and straightforward and simple enough to be used for decision support.

Monte carlo simulation based performance analysis of supply chains2012 •
Since supply chain management is one of the most important management practices that impacts the financial results of services and companies, it is important to optimize and analyze the performance of supply chains. Simulation provides a way to get closer to real life complex situations and uses less simplifications and assumptions than needed with analytical solutions. This paper proposes the application of Monte Carlo simulation based optimization and sensitivity analysis of supply chains to handle modeling uncertainties and stochastic nature of the processes and to extract and visualize relationship among the decision variables and the Key Performance Indicators. In this article the authors utilize their own interactive simulator, SIMWARE, capable to simulate complex multi-echelon supply chains based on simple configurable connection of building blocks. They introduce a sensitivity analysis technique to extract and visualize the relationships among the decision variables and key performance indicators. . The proposed robust sensitivity analysis is based on an improved method used to extract gradients from Monte Carlo simulation. The extracted gradients (sensitivities) are visualized by a technique developed by the authors. The results illustrate that the sensitivity analysis tool is flexible enough to handle complex situations and straightforward and simple enough to be used for decision support.

Simulation software as a tool for supply chain analysis and improvement2016 •
Effective decision making in the automotive supply chain is complex, due to the increasing number of suppliers and customers who form part of it. For this reason, the use of tools that allow to improve the performance of the supply chain is necessary. Simulation Software is one of these tools. Therefore, in this paper a simulation model to improve the performance of an automotive supply chain is developed. Using sensitivity analysis, this study finds the values that allow the supply chain to improve its order fulfilment indicator. In the sensitivity analysis, the variables Cycle Time, Production Adjustment Time, Delivery Time, Raw Material Inventory, and Finished Good Inventory, were modified. The results show that: 1) in the base line scenario, only the 78.85% of the orders are fulfilled, and 2) to fulfil the 100% of the orders Cycle Time, Production Adjustment Time, and Delivery Time must be reduced to one week.

Simulation has become an important information technology tool for analysis and improvement of ent ir supply chain operation. One of the most important supply chain operation stability measures is a bull whip effect value. The bullwhip effect can lead to holdi ng an excessive inventory, insufficient capacities and hi gh transportation costs. It is important to investigat e the magnitude of this effect by quantifying it. There a re a variety of methods, which address bullwhip effect modelling. Nevertheless, there is a lack of methods f r its numerical evaluation in a supply chain. This pa per proposes statistics and probability theory based analytical methods which allow quantification of th e bullwhip effect value in a supply chain that operat s under uncertain market demand. Simulation technique is used to validate results obtained from the analytic al model. Based on validation results, the logic of th e analytical model is examined, and some specificatio ns of the analytical mode...
