Renewable energy sources have attracted wide attention due to their advantages of being abundant in nature and nearly non-polluting. The most feasible and reliable Grid connected renewable energy systems are the hybrid wind-solar sources. This paper proposes a high performance power generation of hybrid solar photovoltaic (PV) with a large capacity doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind energy system. The proposed scheme uses both the grid side converter (GSC) and rotor-side converter (RSC) of DFIG to inject PV power to the grid. This proposed scheme provides an elegant and economic integration of PV source and DFIG-based wind energy source. A Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) extracted from the wind based rotor speed control is proposed in conjunction with pitch control to avoid overloading in case of high wind velocity over the rated value. The integrated GSC and RSC control is designed to implement the dc-link voltage control, active and reactive power, and grid voltage support control functions. The PV solar is connected directly to the dc-link. A nonlinear control is applied to extract Maximum Power from the PV under variable operating conditions. The proposed scheme does not hamper MPPT of PV and wind sources except during very rarely occurring environmental glitches, which the PV power control algorithm is suitably geared to handle using an artificial neural network (ANN). The developed model is validated through a comprehensive set of simulation studies in the Matlab/Simulink environments. A series of results are obtained in order to analysis the system performance under variable operating condition

Social Change in Town and Country in Eleventh-Century Byzantium
What Went Wrong? Decline and Ruralisation in Eleventh Century Anatolia. The Archaeological Record2020 •
There is scarcely any archaeology of eleventh century-Anatolia, and little can be said with any degree of certainty. Few monuments are known, fewer still are securely dated, and their significance for the socio-economic development is ambivalent. Problems surround most supposedly eleventh-century monuments of Byzantine Anatolia, and to approach them archaeologically is difficult. One major issue is the apparent stagnation of formal development, which makes it virtually impossible to date a monument on stylistic grounds. Most buildings may actually date from the tenth century, and if some belong to the eleventh century, they would look rather old-fashioned. Another, certainly old-fashioned, trait of the period was the employment of traditional forms which had been introduced in the Early Byzantine period. Its heritage remained dominant in Anatolia and was superior to anything contemporary, which may go some way in explaining the conservative attitudes of the period. More importantly, much of eleventh-century Anatolia seems to have been short on prosperity and ambitious building projects, although palynological evidence indicates an intensification of agriculture and an increase of rural population. This paper considers the evidence of churches, templon epistyles and fortifications, before asking, ‘what went wrong?’ Why did eleventh-century Anatolia apparently fare worse than the contemporary Aegean, Greece and more generally the Balkan part of the Byzantine Empire?
ABSTRACT The study sought to analyze the relationship between reading comprehension and academic performance. For data collection, comprehension passages and academic performance reports were used. A group of Grade Four pupils from Mariano Villegas Elementary School were selected and a comprehension passage was administered to them to assess their reading ability. Data from their school academic performance reports was used to find the relationship between reading comprehension practices and academic performance. Class observation schedule was used by the researcher to find out about reading comprehension practices. The study findings confirmed that reading comprehension practices have an influence on academic performance of slow readers and therefore there is a significant correlation between reading comprehension practices and academic performance.

From Kato Platanos (Vonorta) of Nafpaktia to Bucharest: the Doctor and Benefactor Georgios Kyriazis, “Offspring of Aetolia”. Monumental Testimonies. Georgios Kyriazis (1829-1893) was born in Kato Platanos (Vonorta), Municipality of Nafpaktia, prefecture of Aetolia-Acarnania, in Western Greece. He studied medicine in Athens, Montpellier, and Paris. After successfully dealing with a cholera epidemic in Nafpaktia, he left for Romania, where he distinguished himself as a doctor. He was decorated for his work by both the Greek and the Romanian state. He also developed a rich public benefit activity by implementing the bequests of Konstantinos Xenokratis, uncle of his wife Eleni, and founding bequests himself. According to the inscriptions, he was the sponsor of two renovations of the church of Agia Paraskevi in Kato Platanos (1870, 1880) and the donor of the icons of the iconostasis, two of which were made in Bucharest (painter Tache Ionescu, 1882). In the city of Missolonghi are preserved the neoclassical buildings of the “Xenocration” School for Girls (founded 1883) and the Vocational School of George and Eleni Kyriazis (1906-1941), that offered technical vocational training to boys. In Bucharest, Kyriazis founded in 1881 and managed the “Xenokration Hospital”, which operated according to European standards; its building was demolished in 1986-1987. He also owned Kyriazis Hotel in Bucharest; its impressive building still exists, although in a bad condition. In Bellu Cemetery in Bucharest is the Tomb of Kyriazis, a monument combining realistic and neoclassical elements: the bust of Georgios Kyriazis signed by Carol Storck, an important Romanian sculptor, accompanied by a female allegorical figure, a personification of Hygheia (Health). In the epitaph he is mentioned as an “offspring of Aetolia”, due of his origin. In 1897 in the same monument his wife Eleni was buried; the Kyriazis couple had founded the “Elenion” School for Girls in Samakovo (Demirköy) of Eastern Thrace, birthplace of the Xenokratis family. Kyriazis had also bequeathed scholarships to needy Romanian high school students. He benefited both his homeland and the country that hosted him, Romania, as the Greeks of the Diaspora often did. His work and contribution remain in the collective memory, while his presence is emphasized by the monumental reserve that is related to him and is a link between the places he lived.
