The rise in domestic violence against women in India, especially in the pandemic and post-pandemic period, is an alarming issue that needs immediate attention. The dominant explanation for this emerging trend is structural inequality, internalized patriarchy, and misogyny. Previous studies have shown that factors such as the patriarchy of society, the hierarchy of relationships, the perception of women as housewives, child bearers and caregivers and the lower sex, the existence of norms that encourage violence in society, the existence of a model of violence. domestic violence in families is influenced by instability in relationships, excessive male power, poverty, preference for male offspring, alcohol and drug abuse by the male partner, and economic imbalance. This study attempted to identify the relationship between socio-personal factors and domestic violence against women. The study revealed that there is a significant relationship between the education level, caste, age, household income, family type and nature of marriage of the victims.

Introduction: Violence against women is a serious problem in India. There is growing recognition that violence against women has a large public health impact, in addition to being a gross violation of women's human rights. Aim and Objectives: To find the extent of different type of domestic violence and to identify various risk factors for domestic violence against married women. Materials and Method: Population based cross-sectional study among 170 currently married women in a rural block of North India from May to October 2016 who were selected by stratified random sampling technique. Results: 45.9% of the total study participants had experienced domestic violence. Education, occupation, financial dependence, type of family, alcohol abuse by husband and place of residence were significantly associated with domestic violence. Common reasons were disobeying husband/elders followed by neglecting household chores.

Women are neglected and discriminated in every aspect of life. In Pakistan traditionally women are considered as subordinate to their men. Women are suffering in every sector. They don't know about their rights as generally they are less educated. Millennium Development Goals and sustainable development goals focus on gender equality and much legislation has been passed in favor of women rights but still in Pakistan women are insecure even in their homes. They are considered as subordinate to men and are not allowed to participate in any matter of life. The objectives of the present study were to know the prevalence and types of domestic violence; to identify the root causes of domestic violence; to know the contributing factors compelling women into Dar-ul-Aman. The present study was conducted in Dar-ul-Aman, District Multan, Pakistan. The population for present study was all the women who faced domestic violence and were living in Dar-ul-Aman District Multan, Pakistan. For the data collection interview schedule was used as a tool. Of the 100 respondents, majority 56% respondents belonged to age group 21-30 years, 32% belonged to 31-40%, 4% belonged to age group 41-50, 2 % belonged to above 50 years. The data revealed that 76% respondents belonged to rural area and 24 % respondent's belonged to urban area. About 52% respondents' family monthly income was less than 20000 PK rupees, 33% respondents family monthly income was 21000-30000 PK rupees, 6% respondents' income was 31000-40000 PK rupees, 7% respondents family monthly income was 41000-50000 PK rupees and 2% respondents family monthly income was above 50000 PK rupees. Grater part of the respondents 72% discussed that their male partners used drugs and 28% shared that their male partners did not use any drugs. Majority 83% respondents faced violence by their male partners, while 7% shared that perpetuators were fathers, about 9% respondents shared that their other family members were perpetuators of domestic violence and only 1 % expressed that any other was perpetrator of domestic violence. Background: Domestic violence is a widespread social evil and continues to be a major public health problem. Domestic violence by marital partners is the most common type of violence against women. This not only has serious impact on their physical, mental health but also impedes women’s socio-economic development. Objectives: 1. To determine the prevalence of domestic violence among the ever married women in reproductive age group. 2. To identify the types of domestic violence and factors associated with it. Methodology: A Community based, cross sectional study was conducted in Javarnahalli, a rural field practice area of AIMS, BG Nagara, Mandya. Study population constituted all 186 married women of reproductive age group (15-49 years) residing in Javarnahalli. Ethical committee approval, informed consent from study participants was taken. A pre designed, pretested structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Statistical analysis was done using SPSS version 20. Results: The overall prevalence of domestic violence was 54.3%. 42.1% suffered from both current and lifetime physical and psychological violence. 48% suffered from both current and sexual violence. Conclusion: In this context, more social support for women, community awareness, making women self reliant by increasing their literacy levels can be recommended.

Factors such as patriarchal nature of society, hierarchy of relationships, perception of women as housewives, caregivers and child bearers they being the lower sex, encourage their suppression. Domestic violence in families is influenced by instability in relationships, excessive male power, control over the mobility of women, poverty, power relationships, preference for male offspring, alcohol and drug abuse by the male partner, and economic imbalance. This study has attempted to identify frequency of different forms of domestic violence such as physical violence, emotional violence, social violence, economic violence and sexual violence. The study revealed that all forms of violence were reported to be prevalent among the respondents. Considering each type of violence, emotional violence topped the chart, followed by economic violence and social violence. Respondents also reported to suffer from sexual violence and physical violence. The study suggests that for holistic sustainable development and women empowerment, different forms of domestic violence and causes/situations leading to it, needs to be identified. Additionally, the society needs to be sensitized how it affects the physiological, psychosocial and psychological wellness of women, at large, thus hampering their empowerment.
Domestic violence is a very well known and most frequent towards women's in India. Domestic violence against women is understood as a situation supported and reinforced by gender norms and values that place women in a subordinate position in relation to men. This study reviles the presence of domestic violence in Indian women's. An interview schedule was prepared to assess the prevalence of domestic violence. 50 women's of lucknow were interviewed to get adequate result. The study showed that alcoholism of husbands is one of the main cause of domestic iolence against women's. The result showed that Domestic violence is still prevailing in the Indian society and women's are very less aware of the laws and organizations dealing with domestic violence. The study showed that alcoholism of husbands is one of the main cause of domestic violence against women's.
