The construction of multi-storey building requires a proper heavy machinery to move and lift the materials. The heavy machinery used is a tower crane. It is an important factor in the construction projects for multi-storey building in a huge scale. Hence, the placement and tool condition are expected to yield an efficient productivity and to minimize operating cost of the tower crane. This productivity is found in the cycle time and material volume. The purpose of the research is to analyze the productivity of heavy machinery and operating cost issued in the term of tower crane. This research is conducted in the construction project of Government Building of Lamongan Regency. The data are collected by means of observation and interview in the field. The results of data analysis showed that the overall productivity scale indicates 4443.45 kg/hour while the cycle time indicates 802.74 hours. So there is a main requirement of the construction crane for the purpose of material handling from one place to another place. This project will helpful for the specific requirement of such application of material handling in case of construction sites. Basically these construction sites requires more human interfere for proper completion of the construction work.

Mobile crane incidents can cause devastating results in terms of production, property damage, and loss of human life. The paper presents analysis of different critical elements in operation of mobile cranes, еxploration of problems related to stability and increasing of safety by work with mobile cranes.
