Gurr, D., Drysdale, L., & Goode, H. (2020). Global research on principal leadership. In G.W. Nobit (Ed.), The Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Educational Administration. (New York, New York: Oxford University Press)2020 •
Large, sustained, multinational, and collaborative research networks are becoming more popular because of their power to produce findings that generalize across contexts as well as to provide contextually nuanced views of a phenomenon. In educational leadership, four major projects have been initiated since the beginning of the 21st century: The International Successful School Principalship Project; the International Study of the Preparation of Principals; Leadership for Learning; and the International School Leadership Development. These projects cover from seven to more than 20 countries and have run for 5 or more years. The discussion of these projects provides insight into principal effectiveness research and some guidance to those who seek to collaborate with colleagues nationally and internationally. International projects like these bring the interplay of leadership and context into focus and show that context is important in terms of educational success and how leadership is...

Gürcü Türkolojisi Araştırmaları I kitabımız dört bölümden oluşmaktadır. A Note on the Worship of the Ācārya's Pādukās among the Śrīvaiṣṇavas2023 •
Worshipping the feet, footprints, and sandals (pādukā) of deities and revered people is a widespread practice across South Asia (and throughout the world) that cuts across belief systems. And the Śrīvaiṣṇavas are no exception: on the one hand, they receive the benediction of the Lord's feet upon their heads in the form of the śaṭhāri, on a visit to a temple or a maṭha. And on the other hand, they worship the feet of their own Ācārya(s) and/or their pādukās, as well as those who belonged to their Ācārya lineage. In this article, I shall deal with the second practice, with a special focus on the manifold ways in which the Ācāryas' pādukās are honoured institutionally in some of the Śrīvaiṣṇava maṭhas in South India, and on how the disciples of those religious institutions replicate some of the customs at home for their private worship. Given that there are many branches and families of Śrīvaiṣṇavas, differences in the worshipping practices have inevitably crept in, and in this article, I shall seek to understand those differences based on a few examples.

In 2017, the remains of the two mosaics were accidentally found in the city of Manbij, 60 km north of Aleppo in northern Syria. These mosaics seem to be part of the same architectural context that has completely disappeared. The best preserved mosaic has a very interesting theme. It is the Dionysus scene with his thiasos including Satyr and Bacchant and leopard. There is also an other scene of landscape with river god and animals. The last one, so damaged, conserve just a mask and the rest of two personages and an amphora, beside it, there is an inscription mentioning Eros. The scene of Dionysus evokes the well-known figures in Zeugma and Antioch, Turkey, dated to the end of the 2nd century AD and the beginning of 3nd centuries. Perhaps, it represents the epiphany of the god. The others scenes are probably linked with Dionysus iconography. The mosaic could be dated, according to the stylistic criteria, to the end of 2nd century AD and the beginning of 3nd century AD. It attests the diffusion of the Dionysus cult in the city of Manbij (Hierapolis) in the roman period.

Getting to Accountability in Restorative Justice2024 •
Offender accountability is a primary goal of restorative justice meetings. Yet existing research on restorative justice demonstrates wide variation in how accountability is defined in research and achieved in practice. Empirical research also shows offenders sometimes struggle with providing information or demonstrating culpability, and victims are sometimes not satisfied with offender accounts or view offenders as justifying their behavior. Toward these problems of “getting to accountability,” we set forth a definition that is comprised of three phases – the giving, taking, and making of accountability – primary to how offenders demonstrate and how victims and others perceive accountability in restorative justice meetings. Following this, we discuss implications for research and practice.
