Language is tool of human beings to communicate each other. People can express their ideas, thought, and feelings through language. One of the ways to learn language is by used song. According to Apsari (2012), by using songs the students tend to be more active in the teaching and learning process. It showed that people can learn English through song. Actually, in fact so many people do not really understand about figurative language, how to classify the type and explain the denotative meaning each figurative meaning. The research design used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The unit analysis of research is the figurative languages, contextual, connotative, denotative meaning, and the dominant of figurative which are found in the song lyric of Bruno Mars’s songs. This paper examines types of idiom and meaning that found in song lyric of Bruno Mars. In clarifying the meaning of idiom, it is not only find the word from the contextual meaning but also the speakers condition when uttering the message. This study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach focusing on idiomatic expressions and meanings. This study is a qualitative research and data was taken from Bruno Mars album. The researcher used Siedl and Mc Mordie theory to investigate the type of idioms and meanings. From the findings, there are four types of idiom found such as special categories, noun with preposition, verb with preposition and preposition with adverb.The idiom meaning had strong message that delivered in the song. This study aims to analyze about sentence patterns that used in westlife’s song lyrics. It was qualitative descriptive research with tree diagram theory by Bornstein. The data source of this study is Westlife album entitled Coast to Coast produced in 2000. To collect the data, the writer choose three songs lyrics such as My Love, I Lay My Love on You and I Have a Dream. The findings of this research were in the first song My Love there are 5 types of sentence patterns S à NP + VP (10 data), Sà VP + NP (3 data), Sà CP + NP + VP (3 data), Sà Adv. Analyzing sentence patterns turns into more essential in song lyrics as there are regularly misinterpretation of words when they are arranged into sentences in song lyrics. This research was aimed to analyze the types of phrase, clause and describe the sentence patterns in Agnez Mo’s song lyrics through tree diagram. This research employed qualitative research. The data of this research is the four lyrics of Agnez Mo’s songs, they are: Long as I get paid, Coke bottle, Damn I love you and Overdose. In analyzing the data, the research used theory of Miles and Huberman; data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/verification. This article entitled "Uncover the Meaning of Figurative Language in BTS Selected Song Lyrics". Figurative language is language that have some meaning behind the word or sentence and uses figures of speech. A figure of speech could even be how of claiming something aside from the literal meaning of the world. This article aims to analyze the types of figurative language and uncover the meaning of figurative language used in BTS selected song lyrics. The writer is interested in analyzing BTS selected songs since their songs not only tell stories of love or heartbreak, but also about current social situation. The data were collected by observation method and note taking technique. Reading Song Lyrics offers the first systematic introduction to lyrics as a vibrant genre of (performed) literature. It takes lyrics seriously as a complex form of verbal art that has been unjustly neglected in literary, music, and, to a lesser degree, cultural studies, partly as it cuts squarely across institutional boundaries. The first part of this book accordingly introduces a thoroughly transdisciplinary interpretive framework. It outlines theoretical approaches to issues such as performance and performativity, generic convention and cultural capital, sound and songfulness, mediality and musical multimedia, and step by step applies them to the example of a single song. The second part then offers three extended case studies which showcase the larger cultural and historical viability of this model. Probing into the relationship between lyrics and the ambivalent performance of national culture in Britain, it offers exemplary readings of a highly subversive 1597 ayre by John Dowland, of an 1811 broadside ballad about Sara Baartman, ‘The Hottentot Venus’, and of a 2000 song by ‘jungle punk’ collective Asian Dub Foundation.
