The interest of the provincial newspaper Casseler allgemeine Zeitung to Bulgaria as a possible ally was very significant yet in 1914, at the outbreak of the World War I in Europe. It increased sharply in the autumn of next year, after the intervention of Bulgaria, already perceived as "a brave comrade in arms." The amount of information did not reduce to the last month of this participation, when Bulgaria was portrayed as an unworthy defeatist. The attitude of the newspaper was emotional. The changes in the situation on the Balkans were communicated quickly and in detail, in the terms of wartime propaganda.
