EXAMINATION OF OCCUPATIONAL ACCIDENTS OCCURRED IN SHIPYARDS: A RISK ANALYSIS IN PERSPECTIVE OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
The first aim of occupational safety applications is to provide security of workers and prevent accidents. In this respect, job accidents are focus points of occupational safety process. In order to prevent job accidents effectively, it is required to define and analyze risk factors of these accidents. In this research, it was aimed to compare job accidents occurred in Marmara Region with both national and international similar job accidents, and to analyze risks of our country.
In the research selected shipyard job accidents in 2015 were examined, and evaluations based on regional and office based were performed. Afterwards, job accidents were evaluated according to risk factors and reported.
According to results of the study, accidents at regions did not show statistically significant difference based on age, experience, education and job type (p>0,05). In determining of accident frequency number of accidents, lost workday, total workers, monthly workday, monthly accident frequency and accident weights form a statistically significant model (p<0,05). Research results show that there are important lacks in ship construction industry, and data collection process is insufficient.

Günümüz dünyasının en önemli sosyo-ekonomik sorunsallarından biri haline gelen iş kazaları; özellikle 2000’li yıllar sonrasında meydana gelen Tuzla, Soma ve Ermenek’te yaşanan kazalarla birlikte giderek kamuoyunda daha fazla yer edinen bir konu haline gelmiştir. Bu sürece yönelik olarak gerek yasal düzenlemeler gerekse de önlem ve tedbirler yoluyla yeni faciaların önüne geçilebilmesi amacıyla birtakım kamu kaynaklı çabalar yürütülmekle birlikte bu çabaların AB ülkeleriyle kıyaslandığında oldukça yetersiz kaldığı gözlemlenmektedir. Türkiye’de İş Sağlığı ve Güvenliği adına atılan en önemli adım olarak değerlendirilen 6331 sayılı İş Sağlığı ve Güvenliği Kanunu; AB müktesebatına uygun bir şekilde düzenlenmiş lakin yasal prosedüre yansıyan bu kurallar zinciri, çalışma yaşamına tam anlamıyla nüfuz ettirilememiş ve bu durum iş kazaları açısından Avrupa ülkeleri genelinde en belirgin ve ölümlü iş kazalarının Türkiye’de görülmesine sebep olmuştur. Bu çalışma içerisinde; iş kazası kavramı üzerinden Türkiye’deki iş sağlığı ve güvenliği uygulamaları değerlendirilerek, iş kazası verileri Avrupa Birliği ile kıyaslanmış ve bu değerlendirmeler ışığında Türkiye’de iş kazalarını meydana getiren sorunlar ve çözüm önerileri üzerinde durulmuştur.

Policing is one of the riskiest and dangerous professions by its nature. Police officers face a range of risks at work: homicide, assaults, attacks, communicable diseases, car crashes or explosions. The risks vary according to the task being undertaken such as arresting offenders, attending street disturbances or performing traffic duties. These risks, having the characteristics of occupational accident in a way, have institutional losses like compensation, loss of manpower and reputation besides individual results like injury, death, mutilation, and posttraumatic stress disorder, exposure to psychological disorders or decrease in quality of life. Opinions and suggestions of 1066 employees currently working at different ranks and units in Turkish National Police in regards with reducing the risks of occupational accidents and safety risks were studied in this research. Suggestions of the participants were reviewed under total nine headings (themes) consisting of training, physical fitness and health, security measures, institutional policies and procedures, managerial policies, working conditions, equipment, uniforms, and patrol cars.

Female labor force participation is lower than men's in many developing countries, including Turkey. The reasons for this situation vary by country but are typically based on cultural and social norms. Given the difficulties that women face in the labor market in Turkey, it is reasonable to conclude that the de facto role ascribed to women by society in a cultural sense, particularly for religious and moral reasons, has a significant impact. As a result of this role, women who do not find an equal place in society with men from the beginning of their lives are unable to benefit from educational equality, and as a result, they are at a disadvantage in the workplace when compared to men. In this regard, it is critical that public authorities strictly protect girls' right to education and remove cultural barriers that prevent them from accessing education opportunities on an equal footing with men. Housework and care work, on the other hand, are another reason why women are excluded from the labor market. It is critical to develop public policies for care services in this regard. Making public investments in child and elderly care services, as well as increasing the supply of affordable and high-quality care services, will alleviate the burden on women in society while indirectly creating job opportunities for women.

Introduction:Occupational accidents result in pain, suffering, death of workers in some cases, many financial losses, reduce production levels and so forth; thus it is counted as a national loss. The aim of this study was to investigate the causes of occupational accidents in the industries and plants supported by the Social Security Organization of Ilam during the years 2010-2012.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 462 occupational accidents occurring for employees covered by the Social Security Organization were evaluated. Data were collected using the pre-designed checklist filled out with the records of the accidents available in the Social Security Organization by the researcher. Data were analyzed by SPSS (ver. 23) software.
Results:The results of the study showed that 42.6% of the accidents occurred in 2010. The most accidents occurred in the age group of 21-30 years old (46.8%) and 461 of injured people (99.8%) were male. The majority of the people (62.55%) were married and 90% had work experience less than five years. Unsafe acts were the most cause of the incidents (57.1%). The most important type of the incident was dropping and slipping (37.9%). There was significant correlation between the cause of incident, type of incident and type of injury (P <0.001).
Conclusion: According to the results, most of the injured people had work experience less than five years, indicating that improving the safety needs monitoring and cooperation of relevant organizations and recruit training.

Hospital is one of the workplaces that have a variety of risks that could adversely affect health and safety. Data of occupational accidents in RS X is 1 accident in 2012 and 2 accidents in 2014. The accident data indicate not optimal management control in the implementation of OSH at RS X Surabaya. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the basic causes of the accident with the individual commitment efforts to pevent occupational accidents at RS X Surabaya. This research is a quantitative research with cross sectional design was conducted in October-November 2015. Large population of 180 people and a sample obtained by simple random sampling technique as many as 65 people. Results with Pearson correlation analysis there was no relationship between the length of work with individual commitment. OSH policies, infrastructure, financing, human resources of OSH, OSH training, and the provision of PPE there is a relationship with the individual commitment. Individual commitment are not related to work behavior. Results of path analysis showed that there is a relationship between infrastructure, financing, human resources of OSH, and OSH training with individual commitment. Recommendations are given for the RS X is adjusting infrastructure with attachments Kepmenkes No. 1087 In 2010, the hospital gave budgets sufficient funds for the implementation of OSH, hospitals procure new human resources special of OSH, OSH training in accordance with needs, and RS do efforts to increase individual commitment

Los riesgos de trabajo ocasionan daños y pérdidas, de esta evidencia surge el interés por conocer lo que cuestan. Generalmente no se pueden cuantificar porque no se realiza el registro de los accidentes de trabajo y de trayecto, en función de los costos. La valoración de los costos de los accidentes es un modo de visualizar las necesidades preventivas de las instituciones de seguridad social, también permite evaluar las condiciones de salud e incidencia económica. Asimismo, evirando los accidentes de trabajo y de trayecto se tendrá una mejor calidad de vida en el entorno laboral.

Risk assessment is widely used to improve patient safety, but healthcare workers are not trained to design robust solutions to the risks they uncover. This leads to an overreliance on the weakest category of risk control recommendations: administrative controls. Increasing the proportion of non-administrative risk control options (NARCOs) generated would enable (though not ensure) the adoption of more robust solutions. Bu çalışma; yakalama ve gözaltına alma uygulamalarında riskler ve iş kazalarının tespit edilmesine yönelik bir alan çalışmasıdır. Çalışmada araştırmanın amacı doğrultusunda katılımcıların demografik özellikleri olgusal sorular ile, araştırmanın alt problemlerine yönelik görüş ve algıları ise açık uçlu inanç ve kanı soruları ile betimlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmada belirtilen hedefe ulaşabilmek için; hazırlanan anket formu kurum içi intranet ağı üzerinden personele dijital ortamda uygulanmış ve ankete 1066 kişi katılmıştır. Alan araştırması sonucu yakalama ve gözaltına alma uygulamalarında yaşanan riskler ve iş kazalarının neler olduğu ve sebepleri ile riskler ve iş kazaları ile karşılaşılan süreçler ve yöntemler belirlenmiştir. Son olarak katılımcıların görüşleri doğrultusunda yakalama ve gözaltına alma uygulamalarında yaşanan riskler ve iş kazalarından korunmak için yapılabilecek öneriler geliştirilmiştir.
ABSTRACT:
This study aims to explore occupational risks and accidents in seizure and detention practicesthrough a field study. For this purpose, the demographic characteristics of the respondentswere evaluated with the factual questions, while their perceptions about the sub-problems ofthe study were measured by open-ended questions. The survey was conducted via the TurkishNational Police (TNP) institutional intra-net (pol-net), and 1066 respondents, who are membersof TNP, were attended to the survey. The results of the field survey revealed the reasons andprocesses leading to occupational risks and accidents in seizure and detention practices.Depending on the insights obtained from the field study, this study generates suggestions thathelp coping with occupational risks and accidents in seizure and detention practices.
