In the IInd c. AD, when a German king was buried in what was going to be a village called Musov (Czech Republic), early iron objects dating back to the later part of the Iron Age were included within the grave goods : a large firedog with impressive bull-heads on the top, an elaborate pair of ironsmith tweezers, a large tripod for the suspension of a cauldron on a fireplace, a meat-hook and a gril. Were the objects family relics preserved during 3 centuries ? Did the king find them when unearthing a Late Celtic grave on his territory ? If these questions cannot be answered, the study of these objects concerns two different topics : first, their function and symbolic use in the Late Celtic societies of the Ist c. BC (with a special attention to banquet and ironsmith symbol); but also the importance of memory, and the link with earlier Celtic kingdoms, by the Germans of the IInd c. AD.
