Beginning of the XXth Century

Garcia Lorca's poetry, like that of his contemporaries, displays the same desire to seek out new forms of expression, an attitude specific to authors associated with literary modernism. The Ballad of the Moon Moon depicts a poetic yet faithful portrait of the Andalusian region, evoking the image of its typical landscapes, while highlighting the mores and ancient beliefs of the nomadic Gypsies. The poem deals with the image of el gitano, a symbol of the marginalized, but paradoxically it does not contain a physical description of the Gypsies, in contrast with the detailed portrayal of the anthropomorphic moon to which the author allocates the largest part of the poem. This paper aims to demonstrate that Lorca's poem is actually the product of a recreation of the objective reality, and that the constant alternation between the real and the imaginary world, between the earthly and the mythical, fantastic dimensions, the stratification of meanings and the overlapping of plans allow us to associate it with magical realism.

Ethnic groups non-uniform concentrate in urban areas. At the same time, their ethnic structure is not static and changes over time. The study of five urban districts makes it possible to determine local features in the process of ethnic city migration in 1912-1920, and to identify the factors affecting them. For this purpose, the paper considers the population censuses of Moscow in 1912 and 1920, which contain data on ethnicity. In addition, new sources are applied - house registers of Moscow in 1918-1921. The registers belong to five city districts and contain records about the tenants of houses, of which a database of 7330 entries has been formed. Ethnicity of tenants is determined with help of anthroponymic methods with the involvement of other information from house registers. Thus, it becomes possible to use the population census in Moscow in 1920 in conjunction with house registers. The main method of study is the calculation of the localization of the most numerous ethnic groups for the five districts of Moscow in 1912 and 1920. The analysis of the obtained data reveals a significant difference in the ethnic structure of the five districts, and also allows tracing the dynamics of the localization of ethnic groups: from 1912 to 1920 the number of ino-ethnic population of Moscow increased significantly due to migrations caused by the First World War. As a result, the settlement system that had been existing for many decades was deformed. Research establishes a relationship between the city migration of ethnic and social groups and reveals factors affecting ethnic settlement in Moscow before and after the outbreak of the First World War. This study will subsequently make it possible to consider relation of ethnicity with territorial representation in the population of the five selected districts of Moscow. **** Этнические группы неравномерно концентрируются в городских районах. При этом их этническая структура не статична и со временем меняется. Исследование пяти городских участков Москвы позволяет определить локальные особенности в процессах этнического расселения в 1912-1920 гг., а также выявить факторы на них повлиявшие. Для этого привлекаются переписи населения Москвы 1912 г. и 1920 г., которые содержат данные об этнической принадлежности. Кроме того, используется новый источник – домовые книги Москвы 1918-1921 гг. Книги относятся к пяти городским участкам и содержат записи о жильцах домов, из которых сформирована база данных в 7.330 записей. Этническая принадлежность жильцов определяется с помощью методов антропонимики с привлечением остальных сведений из домовых книг. Таким образом, появляется возможность использовать перепись населения Москвы 1920 г. совместно с домовыми книгами. В качестве основного метода используется расчет локализации наиболее многочисленных этнических групп для пяти участков Москвы в 1912 г. и 1920 г. Анализ полученных данных выявляет значительную разницу в этнической структуре пяти участков, а также позволяет проследить динамику локализации этнических групп: с 1912 г. по 1920 г. численность иноэтничного населения Москвы существенно возросла по причине миграций, вызванных Первой мировой войной. В результате система расселения существовавшая многие десятилетия была деформирована. В процессе исследования устанавливается взаимосвязь между расселением этнических и социальных групп. Выявляются факторы, влиявшие на этническое расселение в Москве до и после начала Первой мировой войны. Данное исследование позволит в последующем соотнести этническую принадлежность с территориальным представительством в населении пяти выбранных участков Москвы.

Este texto aborda la circulación global de los lenguajes del arte moderno entre los últimos años del siglo XIX hasta la Primera Guerra Mundial, haciendo hincapié en los centros culturales de América Latina. Busca demostrar cómo los artistas de la región fueron receptores creativos de estas estéticas que iban del realismo y el impresionismo, al simbolismo y el decadentismo fin-de-siècle, insertándolas además en proyectos específicos en los que la búsqueda modernidad fue de la mano de la institucionalización artística.

Population migration during periods of weakening state power arises for various reasons, including due to the growth of ethnic tensions in regions where representatives of different nations coexist. The First World War gave rise to large numbers of refugees from the western provinces moving further into Russia; some of them came to Moscow. A study of Moscow migrants at the beginning of the 20th century allows identifying the degree and causes of the impact of interethnic relations on the refugee movement in the exit regions. A new mass source of information about the inhabitants of Moscow – house books of 1918-1921 – is used as the main one. In addition, the novelty of the study is due to the complex use of house books and population censuses: the 1897 general census and the 1902 local census. The main advantage of house books in comparison with other sources is the varied information about residents, which allows for the interconnected use of information about ethnicity, regions of exit and arrival of migrants. The study database included 2,220 records of tenants registered in 21 house books as of 01/01/1918 from five different districts in Moscow. The results of the study showed that the share of migrants from the western provinces of the Russian Empire increased sharply in Moscow after the beginning of the First World War. Ethnic groups that were migrating more actively than the rest, namely Jews, Germans, Poles, and Russians, stand out. At home, these groups constituted an ethnic minority with an increased ratio of urban population. One of the factors that influenced their accelerated migration was the increase in national self-consciousness on the outskirts of the empire and the simultaneous weakening of the central authority, leading to the aggravation of interethnic differences, which were of a long-term nature. In these processes, the ethnic factor was intertwined with the social and economic. **** Миграции населения в периоды ослабления государственной власти возникают по разным причинам, в том числе из-за роста межэтнической напряженности в регионах, где соседствуют представители разных народов. Первая мировая война породила большие массы беженцев из западных губерний вглубь России часть из которых прибывали в Москву. Исследование мигрантов Москвы в начале XX в. позволяет выявить степень и причины влияния межэтнических отношений на беженское движение в регионах выхода. В качестве основного, использован новый массовый источник о жителях Москвы – домовые книги 1918-1921 гг. Кроме того, новизна исследования обусловлена комплексным применением домовых книг и переписей населения: всеобщей 1897 г. и местной 1902 г. Главным преимуществом домовых книг по сравнению с другими источниками является разносторонняя информация о жильцах, которая позволяет взаимосвязано использовать сведения об этнической принадлежности, регионах выхода и прибытия  мигрантов. В базу данных исследования вошли 2 220 записей о жильцах, зарегистрированных в 21 домовой книге 01.01.1918 г. из пяти разных участков Москвы. Результаты исследования показали, что после начала Первой мировой войны в Москве резко возросла доля мигрантов из западных губерний Российской империи. В их числе выделились этнические группы, мигрировавшие активнее, чем остальные: евреи, немцы, поляки, русские. У себя на родине эти группы составляли этническое меньшинство с повышенным коэффициентом городского населения. Одним из факторов, влиявших на их ускоренную миграцию,  явилось повышение национального самосознания на окраинах империи и одновременное ослабление центральной власти, что привело к усугублению межэтнических разногласий, носивших долговременный характер. В этих процессах этнический фактор переплетался с социальным и экономическим.

В статье приводятся новые сведения о собирательской деятельности Бориса Львовича Модзалевского (1874–1928) – историка русской литературы, публикатора и комментатора сочинений А. С. Пушкина, археографа и генеалога, блестящего знатока русской иконографии конца XVIII - первой половины XIX вв., одного из основателей Пушкинского Дома. После революции Б. Л. Модзалевский вел активную работу по спасению частных  художественных коллекций, в том числе, собраний Абамелек-Лазаревых, Воронцовых, Лонгиновых-Козловских, Раевских и многих других, произведения искусства из которых после смерти ученого поступили в такие крупные художественные собрания как Государственный Эрмитаж, Русский музей, Всероссийский музей А. С. Пушкина и др.

Au Professeur Pierre-Olivier Walzer, à l'occasion de son 70e anniversaire.Sa première gloire, Gide la dut au fait d'avoir osé s'attaquer à deux de ses pairs plus célèbres que lui: Maurras et Barrès. Ainsi, la polémique qui l'opposa au second, dès 1898, eut bien plus d'écho que la publication de chacun de ses livres, de PaludesàL'Immoraliste. De làà le réduire à un «anti-Barrès», et à ne lui reconnaître d'autre mérite que celui de l'inversion ou de la négation des thèses de l'«enracinement», il n'y avait qu'un pas: des esprits sectaires ou dogmatiques le franchirent sans tergiverser.Nous voyons mieux aujourd' hui la clairvoyance de Gide vis-àvis de Barrès. Elle s'articule autour de deux axes: littéraire - il condamne le roman à thèse et ses impasses; humain - il perçoit le caractère dangereux, «incestueux», de la thèse même, son négativisme, et même la pulsion de mort qui l'habite.Que nous aurions tort de rester indifférents à la double leçon, littéraire et humaniste, éthique et esthétique, de Gide critique de Barrès, les vicissitudes d'une certaine politique, en France et ailleurs, nous le rappellent chaque jour avec insistance.

The paper takes as its subject the theoretical reconsideration of the surrealist technique of automatism as put forth in the first issues of Minotaure magazine in 1933 and the influence it exerted over formalist thinking, notably in the pages of Cahiers d'Art.
